Saturday 9 Meme

On Saturdays I take a break from the heavy stuff and have some fun…

Welcome to Saturday 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Drive to You (2006)

Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here.

1) In this song, Jewel sings that she can't sleep and is staring at the ceiling. Did you fall asleep easily last night?
Yes I did. It was way past my bedtime… midnight!
But last night I went to an award ceremony at a local university, they gave an award to a friend who was one of the early activist back in the eighties. I sat with some friends and I had a moment of insight… we are all old! I was sitting with all gray hair people. But wait a minute, I’m gray also.

2) She concludes that the only thing to do is drive to her lover's side. Last time you got behind the wheel, where were you headed?
See question #1.

3) Jewel grew up in Alaska. Have you ever visited our largest state?
No, I would like to but…it is not very high on my bucket list.

4) She once performed at the Sydney Opera House, which is more than 7,300 miles away from Anchorage. There are no direct commercial flights between those two cities. Given your choice, would you rather spend less on travel but have to change flights, or spend more and fly non-stop to your destination?
Neither! I got spoiled on my last business trip in a private company jet.
The last time I few commercial on a plane I felt like in was in a Chicago stock yard being herded to slaughter they packed us in so tight. I dropped my book and the whole row had to get up so I could get my book. Moooo.

5) Actor Sean Penn developed a crush on Jewel after seeing her perform on TV and attended many of her concerts during her 1995 tour. What's the best concert you ever saw?
I was much of a concert fan because I don’t like crowds… but I went to Bills stadium: Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Santana, and Jesse Colin Young in 1974 and another concert in Hartford CT for the Grateful Dead concert.

6) She married Ty Murray, a successful rodeo cowboy. Have you ever attended a rodeo?
Nope, and it is not on my bucket list.

7) In 2006, the year "Drive to You" was released, Al Lewis died. He was best known as Grandpa on The Munsters. It's time for you to declare where you stand on this issue: do you prefer The Munsters of The Addams Family?
Can I chose neither? I wasn’t a big fan of either one.

8) 2006 was a very good one for tennis pro Roger Federer. He reached the finals in all four Grand Slam tournaments, and won three. What's the last game you won? (Yes, Wordle counts.)
I don’t remember, but I was the Backgammon champ at work when we had a contest.

9) Random question: Using one word, how would you describe 2024 so far?
Zip, zip, zipping on by!
My theory…
When you are ten each year is a tenth of your life, when you are seventy each year is only 1/70th of your life.

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

Time sure is moving along. I noticed yesterday on the ride down to CCSU all the trees that are starting to change. Fall starts very soon and the plants in the garden are already starting to go by.

  6. I used to play backgammon and I enjoyed it. I wonder why I quit .... Maybe I just couldn't get anyone to play it with me. I bet somewhere there's online Backgammon.
