Dunkin v. Bud Light

Dunkin said no way will they advertise on X (Formally know as Twitter)… well the snowflakes did not like that, no way and they set off in a tizzy!
MAGA influencers are asking their followers to boycott Dunkin'.

It started on Aug. 7, when a marketing agent from Inspire Brand, which acquired Dunkin', wrote an email to Rumble Video, an alternative to YouTube, stating that the coffee shop would not advertise on the site due to its "right-wing culture." Rumble's CEO, Chris Pavlovski, posted the email to X with his response: "No, we don't discriminate. All cultures are welcome on Rumble." He followed it with another post saying that he created "@rumble1775 coffee, a coffee for all cultures."

On the same day, conservative media personality Catturd, who has 2.7 million followers on X, started #BoycottDunkinDonuts. His post on X read: "Trend it, retweet it... Another woke company that thinks they have power over us. So tired of these woke idiots." The hashtag was the number one food trend on the platform on Aug. 7. People responded with statements like, "Go woke. Go broke."
Now I have a couple of questions for you.
Question #1: Do conservatives drink more coffee or beer?
Question #2: Do liberals drink more coffee or beer?

The MAGAs all hyped from Bud Light victory wants to do the same to Dunkin!
"Time to give Dunkin' Donuts the Bud Light treatment. Go Woke, Go Broke," user @iAnonPatriot wrote in a post that has been viewed more than 170,000 times.
Now then, how many gallons of beer do the MAGA Republicans drink a year becomes important when you want to boycott something… you know there is a difference between guzzling a six-pack a night versus a coffee in the morning.
The coffee shop has 102 locations in Arizona.
I think we have that many just in my town in Connecticut.

Newsweek reported what brought this on…
MAGA-influencers on X have called for a boycott of Dunkin' Donuts after the chief executive of the video platform Rumble alleged that the fast-food chain declined to advertise with it because "the right wing culture of the site is too polarizing."

[…]

Pavlovski posted a screenshot of what appeared to be a redacted email reply from the company: "To be honest, [redacted] I would be opposed to showing up on the current version of the platform—the right wing culture of the site is too polarizing from a brand suitability standpoint today."
Them there are fighting words! A call to arms! Even though it is true.

Solidarity!

Our Body, Our Choice!
Do you want to support LGBTQ+ rights?

Do you want to support body integrity?

Our Body, Our Choice!

This is a boycott not of a company but of states.

It is simply this… all you college graduates, all you new doctors, all those looking for a new job just don’t look for jobs in states that deny body integrity. It is as simple as that.

Already without the boycott the states are feeling the pinch. The legislators don’t but the businesses do.
Texas Companies Say Republicans Are Ruining Their Business
Newsweek

A coalition of Texas businesses have said ambiguity over abortion bans in the Lone Star State is making recruitment harder, following the near all-out ban enacted by Republicans.

An amicus brief originally filed by law firm Reed Smith and signed by 40 Texas companies was filed in support of 22 women who are suing the state of Texas over its abortion laws. Numerous businesses have endorsed the letter. These include dating platforms such as Bumble and Match Group (owner of Match.com and Tinder); prominent advertising agencies Preacher and GSD&M; event organizers SXSW; and the United States Women's Chamber of Commerce, along with various Texas real-estate companies, law firms, and restaurant groups.

The companies say that Texas abortion laws render the state less appealing for families considering relocating to a place where they can comfortably start a family. The Texas Legislature, dominated by Republican representatives, passed a trigger law on abortion in 2021. It is currently illegal to have an abortion after a fetus has a heartbeat, which typically occurs around six weeks, often before the woman knows she is pregnant, unless there is a significant threat to the mother's life. The overturning of Roe vs. Wade by the Supreme Court in 2022 gave states the power to limit abortion access.
They are worried.

They already instructed their candidates not to talk about abortion… zip your lips.

Businesses are getting nervous, the best and brightest don’t want to go to those states. Medical students are thinking twice in going to states that want to control what they can say, what medical procedures they can learn, they want to tell you what books you can read, they want to tell you who you can love!

If you want to help us keep our freedom, do not apply to any company in those states. If you are a med student do n ot intern in those states, get a complete education and not one the states want to only learn. If you are going to be a student teacher don’t look in those states.

Our Body, Our Choice!

Vote Blue and save a life.

There's something an anti-LGBTQ extremist recently stated that every person who considers themselves decent and human, and who believes that Pride Month is an extraordinary thing, a good thing, needs to know. You need to pay attention because it signals something we possibly haven't seen before.

The quote comes from Candace Owens, who if there was an Avengers of hate, she'd be a founding member. This is what she said: "I think that my colleague, Matt Walsh, probably said it best in this tweet. He wrote, 'The goal is to make Pride toxic for brands. If they decide to shove this garbage in our face, they should know that they'll pay a price. It won't be worth whatever they think they'll gain. First, Bud Light, and now Target. Our campaign is making progress. Let's keep going.' And he is absolutely right. It is making progress. And it's absolutely right that we have them scared. As I said, we have them backed into a corner, and now is absolutely the time for us to pounce. So do not shop at Target or else you're gay and you're a pervert. And that's all I have to say about that."

There's a lot of ugliness there. It's telling how she uses the language of aggression and violence. "Scared." "Backed into a corner." "Pounce."
These people dislike our guts… they believe that we choose to be LGBTQ+ and that is why they call us “groomers” but in reality it is they who are stirring the pot. They believe that they are on a religious mission to eradicate us. So when they see ads like Bud Lite, or Target or North Face their blood boils.
In the past, the right often ignored Pride Month, and Pride events. Or just mocked them. That's no longer the case. Now, we're seeing a war on all things Pride. That word, war, is not used lightly. It's accurate.

It's a war they're playing for keeps. They like the viciousness of it. The idea of it. The power of it. The pain it causes. They like that it terrifies companies and people alike. There is no goal other than to bash the LGBTQ community and force companies to capitulate. If you don't believe me, just look around.
The scary part is that these are religious fanatics and they are armed and  on a mission from god!
The Washington Post recently said that the right is launching a guerilla war on Pride. But that type of action implies sporadic bouts with limited resources. The right is using a vast array of powerful weapons including television networks and a Twitter that's more bigoted under Elon Musk. Owens, for example, has 2.7 million followers on the site.
They also have the far right-wing media that is pumping them up in their echo chamber. They have mega churches who are preaching fire and brimstone against us.
There's another reason why opposing the raw bigotry we're seeing is important. It won't stop with Pride. They will attack anything representing Black History Month next. Or AAPI month. They will attack anything that celebrates our diversity and unity.

They will expand their war on all fronts because their goal is to drag us back to the antebellum.

It's Pride now, but it could be something or someone else next time. Maybe you. Or you. Or you over there who thinks it will never be you.
They are against anything that is different from them. Remember Martin Niemöller poem.

Running Scared.

Businesses that support us are facing a huge backlash from the far-right, besides Bud Light  and Target they are also attaching other businesses including sports teams like the Dodgers.
While acknowledging they “can’t boycott every woke company or even most of them,” right-wing figures created a playbook for future boycotts

As major consumer brands continue to partner with members of the LGBTQ+ community, release Pride Month products, and carry out Pride campaigns, right-wing figures are responding with an escalating anti-LGBTQ+ crusade that aims to make inclusive branding a “market death wish.”

Currently, right-wing figures are celebrating Target’s decision to remove some of its Pride Month merchandise after a month-long campaign saw anti-LGBTQ activists harass and threaten store employees, with some figures even endorsing violence and acts of vandalism against the retailer. On May 25, disgraced CPAC Chair Matt Schlapp sent a letter to Target’s CEO & Board of Directors calling for an end to their partnership with a designer of the Pride collection who Schlapp claims is a “self-declared ‘satanist’” and “openly flaunts his anti-Christian agenda.”

Calling for boycotts is not a new tactic for right-wing activists. Former President Donald Trump and his allies attempted to organize a boycott against Major League Baseball after the 2021 All-Star Game was removed from Atlanta in protest of the state’s restrictive voting laws. Right-wing figures also attempted to start a boycott of the country band The Dixie Chicks (now known as The Chicks) in 2003 over their public opposition to the Iraq War.The right-wing attacks against Bud Light for their collaboration with trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney has ignited current frenzies to boycott companies seeking to be more inclusive.
This is nothing but an attack by right-wing white supremacist and homophobes who want to stamp us out. They made threats against Boston Children Hospital and other doctors treating trans patients.

Some of the businesses that are the focus are:
State Farm (May 2022): In May 2022, a right-wing consumer advocacy group released emails showing State Farm’s participation with a non-profit organization that provides trans-inclusive books to schools in Florida.
[…]
M&M’s (2022 – January 2023): In early 2023, M&M came under fire from right-wing media for making changes to their “spokescandies” with the intent to make the mascots more inclusive.
[…]
LEGO (February – April 2023): The LEGO Group announced that it would create minifigures representing people with disabilities, different skin tones, and other diverse characteristics, including pivoting some existing product lines to feature characters with LGBTQ identities and mental health conditions.
[…]
Nike (April 2023 – ongoing): Mulvaney also unveiled a partnership with Nike, with Mulvaney posting a video on Instagram advertising the brand’s leggings and sports bras. Right-wing commentators and social media figures, including former Olympic athletes Sharron Davies and Caitlyn Jenner, condemned the partnership. Soon after, a “burn bra challenge” started on TikTok in protest.
[…]
Jack Daniel’s (April 2023 – ongoing): In early April, right-wing social media users dug up two-year-old Pride Month advertisements for Jack Daniel’s whiskey that featured contestants from RuPaul’s Drag Race, claiming that the distiller had “gone woke.”
[…]
Sports Illustrated (May 2023 – ongoing): Sports Illustrated unveiled that transgender singer Kim Petras would be on one of the four covers of this year’s Swimsuit Edition, sparking backlash from right-wing commentators.
[…]
Adidas (May 2023 – ongoing): Sportswear brand Adidas released its Pride Month campaign featuring a male-presenting model wearing the brand’s “Pride Swimsuit,” and immediately faced transphobic attacks from right-wing media.
[…]
Walmart (May 2023 – ongoing): Walmart is reportedly being targeted by a number of right-wing social media users over its Pride collection after their apparent success against Target.

The North Face (May 2023 – ongoing): In May 2023, The North Face announced its second Summer of Pride campaign coinciding with the release of its Pride collection, with advertisements featuring drag queen Pattie Gonia. In response, right-wing media began their typical attacks, saying that The North Face had the goal of “making fun of women” by featuring a drag queen in its campaign, and claiming that the company has “gone trans.”
I plan in the fall to buy a nice winter parka from North Face.

Companies like North Face are standing up to the bullies.
  • Right-wingers are now targeting The North Face after the brand debuted its "Summer of Pride" collection.
  • Conservatives, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, are calling for a boycott of the outdoor apparel brand.
  • VF Corporation, the brand's parent company, defended its campaign, which features a drag queen as its spokesperson

The North Face is standing strong against right-wing criticism of its latest Pride campaign, which features a drag queen as the spokesperson for the outdoor gear company.

In an Instagram post this week, which has its comments turned off, drag performer Pattie Gonia invited viewers to "come out" into the wilderness as part of The North Face's "Summer of Pride" campaign.

[…]

The campaign quickly drew ire among conservatives, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who chimed in to criticize The North Face and call for a boycott of the brand following the release of the collection, accusing the company of "grooming our children" in a tweet.
Newsweek wrote,
Lauren Boebert has hit out at clothing company North Face over an advertising campaign featuring a drag queen, telling her followers: "It's time to boycott ANY product North Face has ever made."

The Republican Colorado representative's remarks come amid rising calls by conservatives for a boycott over its "Summer of Pride" campaign, which features Pattie Gonia and was released on Instagram on Wednesday.

The controversies sit at the heart of a culture war, and feed into a broader debate about the acceptance of LGBTQ+ individuals in public life.
