The release of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer from a Texas jail on Thursday despite Minnesota’s request for his return could set a dangerous precedent, increasing friction between states and helping criminal defendants avoid justice, legal experts said.

Christian Castro was released from a detention center in Brownsville after Texas Gov. Greg Abbott declined to immediately sign his extradition warrant. A federal judge also declined to block Castro’s release or order Abbott to sign the warrant.

Minnesota officials say they believe Castro could flee to Mexico to avoid prosecution on charges he shot a man and lied about it during an immigration crackdown in Minneapolis in January. Extradition from Mexico would require action by the Trump administration, which opened an investigation into Castro’s actions but also has argued ICE agents have “absolute immunity” for their actions on duty.

But now it has escalated to another level:

Over the “strongest possible” objections from the federal prosecutor handling the case, leaders at the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., quashed plans to bring civil rights charges against an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent accused of shooting a Venezuelan immigrant and then lying about it. 

The agent, 52-year-old Christian Castro, allegedly shot Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis in the leg in Minneapolis this January during Operation Metro Surge, the Trump administration’s immigration blitz that sent thousands of federal agents into the state. The incident was one of three shootings by immigration agents in the city, the other two of which were fatal. 

Federal prosecutors in Minnesota had been preparing to charge Castro with deprivation of rights under color of law for the shooting of Sosa-Celis, according to several people familiar with the case. Those charges are similar to the ones leveled against Minneapolis police officers accused in George Floyd’s killing and can carry hefty prison sentences. 

Late on Tuesday, Matthew Evans, the assistant U.S. attorney in Minnesota in charge of the case, told lawyers for Sosa-Celis and other victims to prepare for Castro to be charged “only with False Statements,” according to an email that was reviewed by ProPublica. 

You know what that behavior and being above the law reminds me of? The KGB, NKVD, Stasi, Cheka... the whole alphabet soup of Cold War secret police.

The Hill reports that;

U.S. District Judge Fernando Rodriguez Jr., an appointee of President Trump who oversees the case, will consider Minnesota’s bid at a Tuesday afternoon hearing in his Brownsville, Texas, courtroom.

It has become a major legal clash between Abbott and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), who requested Castro’s extradition as state authorities charged the ICE officer with four counts of second-degree assault and one count of falsely reporting a crime.

The officer stands accused of injuring a Venezuelan man in the leg by firing a gun at the front door of an occupied Minneapolis home on Jan. 14 amid an immigration enforcement surge in the Twin Cities. Castro had allegedly told investigators he opened fire in self-defense after being hit with a shovel and a broom, only for video footage to undercut the officer’s claim. 

Abbott has refused to sign a rendition warrant that would pave the way for the officer to return to Minnesota for trial.

This is a whole new level of political interference in our legal systems. Think about this for a moment: The governor and the judge are saying that for the shooting, Castro can't be charged, only for the misdemeanor.

This doesn't make sense... for the serious crimes of shooting an individual, they say he can't be charged because it was justified. While he used a lie to justify it! Duh! What circular logic. Has Texas become a "sanctuary state" for all the ICE agents who cross the line?

Hypocrisy?… When “Stand Your Ground” Doesn't Seem to Apply to Everyone!

What sets the case of Mr. Martin apart from the other two cases? Race.

When a White man shot a Black man, the NRA publicly defended the Stand Your Ground principle. But when a transgender person is attacked, knocked to the ground, and the incident is captured on video, the NRA hasn't said a thing.

Crickets!

The prosecutor in this case needs to be called into question as well. They have seen the video, yet they are proceeding with the case.

A trans woman in Wyoming is facing two felony charges — aggravated assault and possession of a deadly weapon with unlawful intent — after pulling out a gun on someone who had pushed her to the ground, per Slate.

Rihanna Kelver was standing outside the Crowbar & Grill in Laramie, Wyoming, when a man — whom local state news publication Cowboy State Daily identified as Scott Durham — began to shout homophobic and transphobic slurs at her. Durham later shoved Kelver to the ground with such force that she injured her tailbone, per court testimony and surveillance footage reviewed by Slate. In response, Kelver drew a pistol from her bag, put in a round and pointed the weapon at Durham, which caused him to flee. Kelver, per Slate, kept the safety on and never fired.

Despite Wyoming’s “Stand Your Ground” statute, which allows people to use reasonable force in moments of self defense, Kelver faces up to 15 years in prison for both charges, as well as up to $11,000 in fines, per Cowboy State Daily. Kelver faces an additional year and $1,000 fine for a charge of interference with a peace officer.

Per the statute, “A person who uses reasonable defensive force … shall not be criminally prosecuted for that use of reasonable defensive force.”

Why is she being prosecuted?

In other cases involving Wyoming's Stand Your Ground law, authorities have declined to prosecute. Wyoming's law establishes that a person lawfully present who is attacked has no duty to retreat before using reasonable defensive force.

And let's be clear: Ríhanna was already on the ground. She was surrounded by people after being knocked down, where exactly was she supposed to retreat to?

The judge's ruling also needs to be examined.

On Tuesday, Albany County Circuit Court Judge Robert Sanford ruled the felonies can be tried in district court. He rejected a request from the defendant’s lawyer to dismiss the charges outright.

The charges can bring up to 15 years in jail plus fines!

In April 2024, Brandon Upchurch and his cousin were driving home from a convenience store when they noticed flashing lights behind them. When Upchurch pulled over, officers from the Toledo Police Department drew their guns and ordered him out of his red Dodge Ram.

Upchurch initially refused to turn off the engine or exit the truck, and repeatedly asked officers why he was being pulled over. An officer named Adrian Wilson warned that he would deploy his police dog if Upchurch didn't get on the ground. As Upchurch began to get down, Wilson released the animal.

The dog latched onto Upchurch's dreadlocks, rammed his head into the ground, and sunk its teeth into his arm. Wilson later said he thought Upchurch had tripped and was getting ready to run.

"Your car has a stolen license plate on it," one of the officers said. His plates weren't stolen, Upchurch insisted. He was transported to a hospital for his injuries, then sent to the county jail, where he remained for hours. The charges, which were later dismissed, were obstructing official business and resisting arrest.

Flock's stated mission is "shaping the future of safety." Or is it actually bringing us into the dystopian era of George Orwell's 1984 and Big Brother? The Electronic Frontier Foundation wrote back in 2024 about this exact crisis:

Imagine driving to get your nails done with your family and all of a sudden, you are pulled over by police officers for allegedly driving a stolen car. You are dragged out of the car and detained at gun point. So are your daughter, sister, and nieces. The police handcuff your family, even the children, and force everyone to lie face-down on the pavement, before eventually realizing that they made a mistake. This happened to Brittney Gilliam and her family on a warm Sunday in Aurora, Colorado, in August 2020.

And the error? The police officers who pulled them over were relying on information generated by automated license plate readers (ALPRs). These are high-speed, computer-controlled camera systems that automatically capture all license plate numbers that come into view, upload them to a central server, and compare them to a “hot list” of vehicles sought by police. The ALPR system told the police that Gilliam’s car had the same license plate number as a stolen vehicle. But the stolen vehicle was a motorcycle with Montana plates, while Gilliam’s vehicle was an SUV with Colorado plates.

You don't hear about these "errors" until they get someone killed.

Wrongful detentions like these happen all over the country. In Atherton, California, police officers pulled over Jason Burkleo on his way to work, on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle. They ordered him at gun point to lie on his stomach to be handcuffed, only to later realize that their license plate reader had misread an ‘H’ for an ‘M’. In Espanola, New Mexico, law enforcement officials detained Jaclynn Gonzales at gun point and placed her 12 year-old sister in the back of a patrol vehicle, before discovering that the reader had mistaken a ‘2’ for a ‘7’ on their license plates. One study found that ALPRs misread the state of 1-in-10 plates (not counting other reading errors).

What someone needs to do is sue the pants off of the ALPR companies. Right now, there are no incentives for the companies to achieve 'Zero Defects.' In the meantime, I hope that no one gets killed.

She was 18 years old when a restaurant server followed her into the bathroom, pounded on her stall door, and demanded she leave. The server refused to believe Gerika Murda was a woman, so Murda unzipped her baggy sweatshirt and stepped forward. Only after seeing her breasts in a tighter shirt did the server finally back down.

This is what gender surveillance looks like in practice. It’s where you, your friend, your daughter or your wife must undress to “prove” their womanhood in a public restroom. For over a decade, conservative lawmakers have justified trans bathroom bans as protection for women and girls, despite the overwhelming lack of evidence that transgender people pose any danger to women, and the fact that crimes in bathrooms — such as sexual assault or indecent exposure — are already crimes.

Just weeks ago, Idaho made using the “wrong” bathroom in a private business or government building a crime punishable by up to five years in prison. The math here is perplexing: Why is the Idaho Legislature focused on restricting the rights of the 0.64% of Idahoans who identify as transgender while 41% of Idaho households are struggling to pay for housing, childcare and food?

Just think what the legislature could do if they devoted their time and effort in to the real problems in Idaho? Then again, that might be the real reason that they are going after us... to distract us from what they are really doing or not doing.

Two Cis Women Kicked Out of a Boston Hotel Bathroom After One Was Ordered to "Prove" Sex

A queer couple said they were ordered to leave a Boston hotel on Saturday after a security officer demanded one of the women to show identification to “prove” her sex while using the women’s restroom. Both women are cisgender.

In an online Google review of Liberty Hotel published on Monday, Boston.com reports that Elizabeth Victor said the security officer approached her girlfriend, Ansley Baker, while she was in a stall, using the toilet. The couple was attending a Kentucky Derby party at the hotel when, according to Victor, Baker was “forcibly removed from the women’s restroom by a staff member.”

And that is on top of the fact... it is not like Republican states where they discriminant against us... this is Massachusetts!

Both women are cis, CBS’ local affiliate reports, but it is important to note that according to the Movement Advancement Project, Massachusetts does not prohibit people from using the bathroom consistent with their gender identity. The state also explicitly prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

“She was humiliated and physically confronted while still inside the stall, pulling up her pants, and forced to show ID to ‘prove’ her sex,” Victor wrote. “Even after verifying she is a woman, we were both ejected from the event entirely, while shaken, crying, and publicly shamed… No guests stepped in. No staff de-escalated the situation. No compassion was shown. This was not just unprofessional — it was traumatizing, discriminatory, and dehumanizing. My partner and I are devastated.”

A high school student is fighting back after a Buffalo Wild Wings employee allegedly followed her into the bathroom and wouldn't stop harassing her until the teen ended up unzipping her hoodie to "prove" she's a girl.

On Tuesday, Aug. 12, Gender Justice filed a charge of discrimination with the Minnesota Department of Human Rights (MDHR) on behalf of 18-year-old high school student Gerika Mudra, according to a press release from the nonprofit.

Mudra, who is a biracial lesbian, according to NBC News, was eating at a Buffalo Wild Wings in Owatonna when she got up to use the bathroom.

In a video released by Gender Justice, the teen said the server followed her into the bathroom and "came in yelling, 'This is a women's restroom, the man needs to get out.' "

Watch out! The "Gender Police" is out to get you!

“Gender policing” is pinching cis women who don’t conform to expected appearance norms!

This isn't new, I wrote about the same thing back in 2006 at boxing match where a security guard yelled  "This is Security! Everyone out! There's a man in the bathroom!" Then again in 2016, in Trump's first term I wrote where a grandma was jailed in a men's jail with 40 male prisoners for over 10 hours!

NYC Hotel Discriminated Against Me For Being Non-Binary!!!

Wesley Han, a non-binary actor famous for their work in "Power Book II: Ghost," is suing a swanky hotel in New York City for harassment and discrimination ... and it sounds like it's all about which bathroom they allegedly used.

In a new lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, Wesley claims they were attending a private event at the Soho Grand Hotel when they were accosted by a security guard who forcibly removed them from the women's restroom.

Wesley says they were dressed in women's clothing when they attempted to use the women's restroom ... and they say a security guard asked women in the foyer, "Excuse me ladies, have you seen a man enter?”

Wesley alleges the guard was told "no" but entered the restroom anyways and would not allow them to wash their hands. They claim the guard escorted them to the men's restroom, humiliating them in a walk of shame.

Um... NYC and New York have non-discrimination laws!

ACLU To Host Webinar On License Plate Readers, Flock Cameras

The American Civil Liberties Union of Connecticut is hosting a webinar next week on automatic license plate readers, including Flock cameras. 

The automated cameras – found in dozens of municipalities across the state – are small black devices placed on poles with solar panels on top that take photos of the rear license plate of each passing vehicle. The photos are stored for 30 days.

The ACLU last year called for a statewide moratorium on their use until the state passes legislation to prevent the misuse, sharing, and selling of driver-location data. The cameras put residents at risk, the ACLU said, including immigrants, LGBTQ+ people, and those seeking reproductive or gender-affirming care out of state. 

Law enforcement officials, however, have said the cameras are helpful in solving and preventing crimes and have helped locate missing people as well as solve burglaries, robberies, assaults and break-ins.

Report reveals Virginia police misuse of license plate reader technology

A new report found that some Virginia law enforcement agencies using automatic license plate recognition (ALPR) have violated the law since it took effect in July 2025.

A report published in January by the Virginia State Crime Commission stated the results of an ALPR use survey sent to law enforcement agencies to ensure they are following the new statutes that took effect.

The survey found that several law enforcement agencies have violated the new ALPR statute. It also noted that almost one-third of law enforcement agencies did not respond to the survey.

Milwaukee cop’s misuse of Flock ALPR undercuts case for facial recognition use

The debate in Wisconsin over whether police in Milwaukee should be allowed to use facial recognition or join Biometrica’s network to share images of convicted criminals and missing people has taken a new twist. Revelations that a Milwaukee Police Department officer misused the city’s network of Flock automated license plate recognition (ALPR) cameras has added to the perception that oversight is lacking and responsible use policies for sophisticated technology will be ignored.

Now, an MPD officer is accused of using Flock’s camera network while on duty to look up the license plate number of a person he was dating more than 120 times, and that of the person’s ex-boyfriend another 55 times, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. The investigation into alleged misuse of the system was sparked by a driver who noticed in public records that their license plate had been searched numerous times.

There are 31 Flock cameras deployed across Milwaukee. The MPD officer is the second law enforcement official in the state to be charged with misusing Flock cameras.

Speed Traps or Spy Traps

You all know that I don't like speed cameras. It is not that I speed, but rather the fact that is you are not aware of the speeding ticket until a month later. Suppose you are keeping up with traffic and you go that way every day to work. By that time you collected ten ot twenty more tickets!!!!

The Hartford Courant writes;

From the time the camera went live in July through December 2025, the department issued about 46,000 citations for the same area. As of early December, the department had collected $1.84 million in fines out of a total of $2.8 million issued, according to Costa.

Once you know it's there, you slow down. But the person passing through doesn’t, and they just made the town and the camera company another $50. That is why towns love these cameras: they bring in tons of money by "socking it" to out-of-towners. The delay between the act of speeding and receiving the ticket—which can be weeks—proves these aren't meant to curb speeding in real-time; they are meant to generate revenue.

The towns have contracted with a variety of vendors to provide the cameras and software. A purchase order from August 2024 shows that Middletown paid about $3,900 to the firm Traffic Logix for a speed camera. The town paid $4,000 to Dacra Tech for the camera’s operating system and will also pay the firm a monthly fee based on the number of citations and warnings issued: $13.50 per citation and $6 per warning.

It is a massive money-maker for both the town and the private companies. The towns are seeing $$dollar$$ signs!

Although Connecticut’s law strictly regulates the way data collected by speed and red light cameras can be used, Dan Barrett, the legal director of the ACLU of Connecticut, said the organization is concerned about their use.

“The pervasive surveillance means that so much more evil is possible,” Barrett said.

State law mandates that any data collected by speed or red light cameras can only be used to track those violations. It can’t be used, for example, to track someone who has committed a crime.

Still, some municipal officials, while assessing the need for the cameras, have expressed concerns about potential collateral effects.

Whew! I thought that ICE could see the data, but it looks like we have laws in place to stop that!

However, the camera companies are thumbing their noses at the laws! Back in 2019 the ACLU wrote about the cameras in the article, Documents Reveal ICE Using Driver Location Data From Local Police for Deportations;

Records obtained by the ACLU of Northern California in a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit detail ICE’s sweeping use of a vast automated license plate reader (ALPR) database run by a company called Vigilant Solutions. Over 9,000 ICE officers have gained access to the Vigilant system under a $6.1 million contract that the public first learned of last year. ICE has access to over 5 billion data points of location information collected by private businesses, like insurance companies and parking lots, and can gain access to an additional 1.5 billion records collected by law enforcement agencies.

Over 80 local law enforcement agencies, from over a dozen states, have agreed to share license plate location information with ICE. Emails show local police handing driver information over to ICE informally, violating local law and ICE policies.

The ACLU’s grave concerns about the civil liberties risks of license plate readers take on greater urgency as this surveillance information fuels ICE’s deportation machine. Many communities have license plate readers: high-speed cameras mounted on police cars, road signs, or bridges that can photograph every passing license plate. Together with time, date, and location coordinates, the information is stored for years, generating a literal and intimate roadmap of people’s private lives. Vigilant also sells ALPR systems to local police and hosts location information collected by law enforcement and private companies in a massive database called LEARN.

Santa Cruz leaders vote to terminate contract with Flock

Santa Cruz City Council voted 6-1 on Tuesday to end its contract with license plate camera company Flock Safety, but left the door open for a possible replacement.

The Atlanta, Georgia-based surveillance company Flock Safety has come under fire after reports surfaced that license plate data from Santa Cruz, Capitola and Watsonville have been accessed by outside agencies on behalf of federal law enforcement, including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE. 

Vice Mayor Shebreh Kalantari-Johnson and Councilmembers Susie O’Hara and Renee Golder proposed the contract termination, citing rising tensions with ICE, and weak trust in the company following Flock’s lackluster response to the data breaches. Councilmember Sonja Brunner was the sole dissenting vote.

ICE is creating a surveillance network that rivals authoritarian counties like North Korea!

Consider the reality for the trans community today. Connecticut is supposed to be a "safe harbor" state, but these camera networks don't respect borders. Imagine a District Attorney from a hostile state like Texas running a search for every vehicle with Texas plates parked near a gender clinic in New Haven. With one click, they have a list of targets to prosecute. Our local streets are being turned into a dragnet for out-of-state "bounty hunter" laws.

If a Texas DA wants to find out who is visiting a clinic in New Haven, they don't have to talk to a Connecticut judge. They simply log into the national database provided by companies like Flock or Vigilant. Since the data is hosted on servers in Georgia or California, they can bypass Connecticut's "safe harbor" protections entirely.

It is time to enforce our state laws. We cannot allow our local police to hand over data that puts people’s lives and healthcare at risk. We need to cancel these contracts and hit these companies where it hurts: their bottom line. If we don’t, we are allowing our towns to build a totalitarian infrastructure that ICE and out-of-state prosecutors will use to hunt the most vulnerable among us.

The company Flock, which sells participation in a nationwide license plate reader network as well as other surveillance technology, has been under a lot of pressure lately as increasing numbers of Americans realize they don’t like the mass surveillance the company sells or its use in the Trump Administration’s war on immigrants. That pressure seems to be resulting in demagogic attacks on the motives of its critics, with the CEO saying they want to “normalize lawlessness” and “weaken public safety.”

As we have been saying for years, the creation of a giant automated infrastructure for the surveillance of drivers’ comings and goings raises a lot of profound issues — about the balance of power between government and the governed, how much power we should grant the government to investigate and prevent crime, how much privacy we should allow people to have in their public movements over time and space, the psychological, practical, and political effects of a diminishment of such privacy — and ultimately, what will best give people in this country a shot at living happy and fulfilling lives free of domination by others.

Big Brother is watching you! And in this case it is ICE!

In a December email reportedly sent to all its law enforcement clients, CEO Garrett Langley claimed that attacks on Flock were attacks on law enforcement. “Let's call this what it is,” he wrote. “Flock, and the law enforcement agencies we partner with, are under coordinated attack.” Langley then portrays Flock’s critics as motivated not by legitimate disagreement over the relative importance of different values and the role of mass surveillance in a brutal mass deportation effort, but as some kind of nihilists who wish to destroy society:

Flock Safety — a private company that has acknowledged federal immigration agents can access its license-plate reader data — operates in several Arizona cities. Police departments in Flagstaff, Prescott Valley and Scottsdale use Flock cameras, while Sedona paused its program in August amid community concerns over surveillance and data-sharing.

Flock Safety does not appear to have a formal agreement with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, but data obtained by 404 Media revealed ICE had indirectly accessed Flock’s system thousands of times through local police departments. An AZCIR review of that data confirmed Arizona law-enforcement agencies appeared in the records, with search terms like “ICE ASSIST.”

The American Civil Liberties Union of Connecticut (ACLU-CT) today called for a statewide moratorium on the use of all all automatic license plate reader (ALPR) technology until the state passes legislation to prevent the misuse, sharing, and selling of driver location data, citing risks and harms to immigrants, LGBTQ+ people, and those seeking reproductive or gender-affirming care. The announcement follows ACLU-CT filing 94 public records requests with police departments across the state seeking transparency about law enforcement’s use of ALPRs, including Flock Safety systems that track drivers’ movements and enable data sharing across state lines without adequate oversight or protection for vulnerable Connecticut residents.

The action comes amid warnings from experts, including Ken Barone of the Institute for Municipal and Regional Policy, who has examined how Connecticut driver-location data collected by police has been accessed by out-of-state agencies, including law enforcement in states that criminalize abortion or gender-affirming care and, in some instances, by agencies seeking information on undocumented individuals. There is mounting evidence nationwide, and across the region, that ALPR technology like Flock Safety is already being used to monitor, expose, and target marginalized communities in the state, as well as facilitate immigration enforcement and the criminalization of reproductive and gender-affirming healthcare, undermining the intent of our Trust Act and Shield Law . These findings underscore the urgent threat this technology poses to the data privacy and civil liberties of all Connecticut residents and the critical need to halt its use until the state implements comprehensive protections.

Illinois orders end to Customs and Border Protection access to license plate readers in state

Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias has ordered operators of the nation's largest automated license plate reader system to end any access to Illinois cameras for U.S. Customs and Border Protection use.

Giannoulias’ office audited the use of Flock Safety data and determined some Illinois law enforcement agencies had provided access to federal authorities in violation of state law.

The secretary of state’s office said in June that it planned to do a sample audit of 12 local law enforcement agencies to see if data was being shared, and determined Flock Safety "did not have proper safeguards in place for data sharing."

A 2023 state law prohibits license plate reader camera information from being shared with out-of-state law enforcement for such things as immigration or reproductive health care investigations without a court warrant.

"This sharing of license plate data of motorists who drive on Illinois roads is a clear violation of the state law," Giannoulias said. "This law, passed two years ago, aimed to strengthen how data is shared and prevent this exact thing from happening. I take my responsibility as secretary of state seriously. It’s why we spearheaded this legislation, which now gives us the tools needed to hold Flock accountable for its actions."

This show a complete disregard for laws!

• Disregard for state sovereignty when state laws restrict federal access (CT, IL, VA, etc.).
• Law-and-order absolutism, where criticism is framed as an attack on society itself.
• Delegitimization of oversight, treating public records laws and civil-liberties advocacy as hostile acts.
• Rhetorical fusion with law enforcement, rather than arms-length vendor neutrality.

Those are the same themes that show up in ICE and DHS communications during the Trump era, and they persist today regardless of administration.

Home Depot locations have become hotbeds for ICE arrests, after U.S. Homeland Security Adviser Stephen Miller said the agency should target the home improvement chain, where migrant day laborers are known to gather.

As violent clashes between ICE agents and protesters escalate in Minneapolis, video is now circulating of a woman who is dragged from her car and hauled away by masked agents as she says she is a disabled autistic person trying to get to the doctor.

The confrontation with the woman occurred on Tuesday, reportedly just a couple of blocks away from where Renee Nicole Good was shot to death by an ICE agent last week.

In the Tuesday video, which has been posted to YouTube by Freedom News TV, the woman is shown sitting behind the wheel of her vehicle, which is stopped on the street with the driver's side window rolled down.

Multiple masked ICE agents approach her car and tell her to move it, as another agent points in the direction he wants her to go. She responds, but it's not clear what she says or who she's speaking to.

Yet, Trump & Company keeps saying that the protesters are characterized as "professional agitators" and "insurrectionists."

This was just a woman who left her house to go to a doctor's appointment only to drive into an ICE operation and,

That same agent then pulls on the driver's side door handle, but is unable to open it. The woman then drives slightly forward and stops. Agents again approach the car, demanding she move.

At that point, another agent, located on the passenger side of the vehicle, breaks the window in the passenger door. Throughout the altercation, protesters and ice agents can be heard yelling at each other and at the woman. Some people who appear to be protesters, tell her to drive away.

This is just an ordinary person who gets trapped in a nightmare. It could be any of us, at the wrong place at the wrong time. She probably driven a dozens times on that road going to her doctor's but this time it makes her "professional agitators!"

Another Branch Of The Military… But Not Military.

We have the Army, the Navy, the Air Force and Space Force but there is now another branch that is “non-military” but;

•     It looks like a military (tactical gear, high-end weaponry, mass transport).
•     It acts like a military (mass logistics, detention camps, "battlefield" rhetoric).
•     But stays "Civilian" on paper, allowing it to bypass the strict constitutional and statutory limits that keep the actual U.S. Army out of your neighborhood.

That branch is ICE.

It has become the "Third Branch" of the armed forces—one that operates domestically, is not bound by the traditional rules of war or policing, and circumvents the Posse Comitatus and the Insurrection Acts.

The budget for ICE, thanks to the recent "One Big Beautiful Bill," has ballooned to nearly $30 billion—nearly three times its 2024 levels and roughly two-thirds of the entire U.S. Marine Corps budget. Let that sink in for a minute. Their motto appears to have become: “One of Ours / All of Yours.”

As the saying goes, they are loose cannons—and they are acting like thugs in uniform.

A gay Minneapolis pastor says federal immigration agents handcuffed him, pointed a gun at his face, and taunted him while he stood among nonviolent protesters just blocks from where an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer fatally shot Renee Nicole Good, a mother of three who also leaves behind a wife. The encounter has become a visceral symbol of fear, fury, and deepening mistrust between federal authorities and communities already scarred by violence.

The Rev. Kenny Callaghan, a gay senior pastor at All God’s Children Metropolitan Community Church whose congregation sits near Portland Avenue and East 31st Street, told The Advocate in an interview Friday that he went toward a commotion on Wednesday morning after hearing that a group of federal agents was surrounding and threatening what he perceived to be a Hispanic woman, not specifically in response to the earlier shooting.

When he stepped in and told ICE agents to take him and now woman the ICE agents the Advocate article goes on to write,

An agent immediately raised a firearm at his face, Callaghan said, and asked, “Are you afraid now?” He said he replied no, and moments later, he was handcuffed and placed in a black SUV. Inside the vehicle, Callaghan said, the same agent returned repeatedly to ask whether he was “afraid yet.” He remained there for about 30 minutes and was released without being arrested or charged, he said.

In Minnesota: it is Assault in the Second Degree (MN Statute 609.222) and is defined as an assault with a dangerous weapon. You do not have to pull the trigger for it to be an assault; "intent to cause fear of immediate bodily harm" is the legal threshold. And he words shows "intent to cause fear of immediate bodily harm"!

The final insult revealed the blatant racial targeting behind these tactics. Before letting him go, Callaghan said the agent told him:

Fullerton police stop man pointing gun at female driver, only to learn he is ICE agent

A Fullerton police officer intervened when he saw a man in plain clothes pointing a gun at a female driver on a busy street in Santa Ana. The man later identified himself as an immigration agent and accused the driver of “following him” during an “operation,” a refrain increasingly heard as agents push back on people recording their movements.

The brief, but tense encounter Sunday, caught partially on video, raises concerns as it joins a growing list of cases of masked and plainclothes agents being mistaken for criminals and vice versa.

The officer had just dropped off an inmate at the Orange County Jail and was returning to Fullerton when he noticed a man exit a vehicle at an intersection and draw his weapon on the driver behind him, according to a statement from the Fullerton Police Department.

ICE agent arrested for pulling gun on California teen, lawyer says

 A 45-year-old California man who reportedly works as a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent is accused of illegally detaining a minor at gunpoint while off duty last week.  

The Nov. 10 incident, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, played out at around 10:30 pm outside a home in Temecula, California.  

Lawyer Greg Kirakosian, who represents the boy and his family, told Nexstar’s KTLA that the 17-year-old was driving home after dropping a friend off down the street when he saw the suspect, identified by investigators as Gerardo Rodriguez, pointing a gun at his vehicle and demanding he pull over.

The Star Tribune writes,

 Federal agents have either shot a person or fired a weapon 14 times since July, according to a database compiled by the news outlet The Trace.

The Trace found at least three people were killed and four injured in 12 of those shootings. Two other shootings involved off-duty officers. The data includes the Minneapolis fatality.

Nearly every case had a common factor with the Minneapolis shooting: officers shot or fired at, people in a vehicle.

Federal officials did not immediately comment on the Trace data but say there is a major uptick in people using vehicles as a weapon against law enforcement. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, said Wednesday that “we’ve seen over 100 of these vehicle rammings happen in just recent weeks.”

ICE agents are a bunch of gun happy thugs and don't have to worry about going before a Shooting Review Board. But remember one thing... Minnesota has no Statue of Limitation for murder!

One Leader, One Voice!

In any dangerous, high-stress incident, there must be one leader and one voice.

I was never a police officer, nor did I serve in the military. But I completed 40 hours of HAZWOPER training—hazardous waste operations and emergency response—and one principle was drilled into us from day one: one leader, one voice.

I have watched a number of videos related to the killing of Ms. Good. One thing stands out clearly in my mind.

One officer was telling her to go, while another officer was yelling, “Get out of the car!”

She obeyed the officer telling her to go—and it cost her her life.

How many times have we seen videos of officers yelling contradictory orders with their guns drawn? Adrenaline is pumping. Stress is high. Chaos takes over.

The Missouri Sheriffs’ Association addressed this exact issue in “Stop the Shouting – and Cops Respond”, writing:

“Consider another common occurrence: multiple officers shouting conflicting orders to a suspect believed to be armed. Again, what might the impressions be? Clearly officers are not working as a team. Will allegations arise that they are so emotionally focused they cannot hear each other’s conflicting orders? I once saw a suspect cry out, ‘Don’t shoot me. I don’t know what to do!’ when several officers simultaneously and repeatedly shouted at him to ‘Don’t move!’ ‘Get on the ground!’ ‘Show me your hands!’”

Others with a more refined understanding of human predatory behavior observe that a screaming officer often appears extremely fearful and is compensating by shouting. That fear can make them vulnerable and slow to respond, while a calm officer is actually more dangerous.

At least, that’s what one very dangerous parolee—an Aryan Brotherhood associate named “Cory”—told me just two weeks after his release from San Quentin. He said that when a frightened cop screams orders, it signals fear. A calm cop, on the other hand, commands respect and caution.

Hardened gang members often dismiss shouting officers with comments like, “Yeah, he’s just going typical.” They’ve experienced shouted threats from violent people with little impulse control, for whom violence was the first option, not the last. They are not impressed by yelling. Worse, they may see it as an advantage to exploit.

But Ms. Good was not a hardened gang member.

She was a mother.

So the questions that must be asked are these:

• Was the officer yelling “get out of the car” aware another officer was telling her to go?
• Was the officer telling her to go aware of the conflicting command?
• Where was the Officer in Charge—or was there one at all?
• Were there operational orders for this incident, or was it simply “go raid this address”?
• What training did each officer receive, and when?
• I want to see the training records for everyone involved.

I was certified as an incident commander for hazardous waste accidents. My factory needed someone authorized to sign a Bill of Lading for hazardous chemicals—that person was me. I underwent a week of training, and one lesson was hammered into us repeatedly: one leader, one voice!

Because there must be:

• A clear chain of command
• No freelancing
• No contradictory instructions

So that:

• Everyone knows who to listen to
• Everyone knows not to override the leader

Why?

Because people die from confusion.

That is not politics.

That is safety.

Renee Nicole Good calmly said everything was “fine” and “I’m not mad at you” seconds before an on-duty Immigration Customs Enforcement agent fatally shot her in Minneapolis as she drove away, according to a cellphone video shared Friday by Donald Trump’s White House.

The partisan media outlet Alpha News first posted the video on X, a 47-second clip that showed the perspective of the ICE agent – and captured a man’s voice calling Good a “fucking bitch” after she was mortally wounded. It was then shared by the White House’s official Rapid Response X account as well as JD Vance, with the vice-president writing in part that he agreed with the notion that Good’s death was “a tragedy” but accused the media of dishonestly covering the circumstances of her killing.

The agent filming the video has again walked in front of Good’s car from passenger side to driver’s side. Good briefly backs up and drives forward while turning to her right. The agent’s phone then abruptly points skyward, and he can be heard saying: “Whoa!”

That moment of the clip is consistent with another video in circulation that shows the agent get slightly brushed by the car, which is moving so slowly that the officer is able to easily retain his balance.

Gunshots then erupt without the officer putting the phone down. A voice says, “Fucking bitch,” as Good’s car briefly comes into view while it drives away. A loud crash is then heard.

The ICE agent who killed Good, an American mother of three, has been identified as Jonathan E Ross. Ross, a 10-year veteran of the special response team of ICE’s enforcement and removal operation, was taking part in an immigration sweep in Minneapolis on Wednesday at the time that he fatally shot Good. In June, Ross had been dragged by a vehicle while participating in the arrest of an undocumented immigrant with an open ICE detainer and a criminal conviction for sexually assaulting his 16-year-old stepdaughter in 2022.

Do you think that being by "dragged by a vehicle" might have affected the ICE officers? Her wife said,

Rebecca Good, meanwhile, published a statement saying: “On Wednesday, January 7th, we stopped to support our neighbors. We had whistles. They had guns. We were raising our son to believe that no matter where you come from or what you look like, all of us deserve compassion and kindness. Renee lived this belief every day. She is pure love. She is pure joy. She is pure sunshine.

“Renee was a Christian who knew that all religions teach the same essential truth: we are here to love each other, care for each other, and keep each other safe and whole.”

New reports and videos keep coming in but so far nothing that I have seen justifies the killing.

Cell phone footage raises new questions about ICE agent’s tactics before fatal shooting

As he approached Renee Good’s vehicle on a Minneapolis street on Wednesday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Jonathan Ross held up his phone camera and recorded video.

Less than a minute later, he was still recording when he drew his weapon and fatally shot Good as she accelerated.

That extraordinary footage, along with video shot by bystanders and a 3D model created by CNN of the confrontation, shows Good and her wife challenging ICE officers – but also raises new questions about Ross’s tactics and decision to use deadly force.

The video evidence also appears to undermine elements of the government’s narrative of what happened.

CNN’s analysis found that while the Department of Homeland Security claims that Good was “blocking” ICE agents, multiple cars – including one driven by Ross – were able to drive around Good’s vehicle before the shooting.

It's no secret that 2025 has given Americans plenty to protest about. But as news cameras showed protesters filling streets of cities across the country, law enforcement officers—including U.S. Border Patrol agents—were quietly watching those same streets through different lenses: Flock Safety automated license plate readers (ALPRs) that tracked every passing car. 

Through an analysis of 10 months of nationwide searches on Flock Safety's servers, we discovered that more than 50 federal, state, and local agencies ran hundreds of searches through Flock's national network of surveillance data in connection with protest activity. In some cases, law enforcement specifically targeted known activist groups, demonstrating how mass surveillance technology increasingly threatens our freedom to demonstrate.

This is what totalitarian governments do, governments like Russia, North Korea, and China do!

2025 was an unprecedented year of street action. In June and again in October, thousands across the country mobilized under the banner of the “No Kings” movement—marches against government overreach, surveillance, and corporate power. By some estimates, the October demonstrations ranked among the largest single-day protests in U.S. history, filling the streets from Washington, D.C., to Portland, OR. 

EFF identified 19 agencies that logged dozens of searches associated with the No Kings protests in June and October 2025. In some cases the "No Kings" was explicitly used, while in others the term "protest" was used but coincided with the massive protests.

Just looking at the list what is see is a majority of the states are Republican controlled, only three states are Blue. And many law enforcement officers ignore state laws...

 Some agencies have adopted policies that prohibit using ALPRs for monitoring activities protected by the First Amendment. Yet many officers probed the nationwide network with terms like "protest" without articulating an actual crime under investigation.

We can't put it ARLPs back in the box. But can definitely end this abuse and invasion of privacy!

And once again, this network can be used by states to track trans people as they get their needed healthcare form trans friendly states. Or women with say, Texas license plate around women's clinics.

Police rely on license plate cameras to help solve crimes. Recently, lookups of this data have surged by federal agencies, who are potentially using it for immigration enforcement in sanctuary states.

JUANA SUMMERS, HOST: Local police have become increasingly reliant on license plate tracking cameras to solve crimes, and federal investigators have noticed. There's been a recent spike in federal searches of local data, which means police departments in some sanctuary states may find themselves illegally sharing information for immigration enforcement. NPR's Martin Kaste has the story.

MARTIN KASTE, BYLINE: This isn't new tech. For years now, police have used automatic license plate readers to log when and where random passing cars are seen in traffic. But what is new is how common the cameras have become.

PHIL NEFF: Some of the comments you see are, well, these are only tracking criminals. But that's not true. It's everyone.

I have been warning about this, there has to be laws on who can see the data (i.e. Court order, subpoena, etc.).

NEFF: Over the summer, hundreds if not thousands of searches by U.S. Border Patrol - and it would have keywords that were sometimes as vague as, like, investigation or targeting.

KASTE: The police departments pointed to what they saw as a lack of clarity about who had access through a setting called national lookup. The data system they're using is run by Flock Safety. That's the company that supplies the license plate readers.

HOLLY BALIN: Flock has never opted any agencies into sharing relationships that they did not opt themselves into.

KASTE: Flock Safety spokesperson Holly Balin says these departments chose to allow access to federal agencies, which is normal and legal in Washington when it's a criminal matter, such as human trafficking.

BALIN: We see agencies cooperate with federal agencies for these complex cases that are very much within the purview of their laws. But again, that's not Flock, to determine whether agencies cooperate with federal agencies or they don't. That is entirely up to them.

So the question... how many towns check the box "Do not share" King5 reports that courts ruled that the data from traffic camera are public records!

Data collected by automated license plate readers used by police departments across Washington state must be made public, a judge in Skagit County ruled on Thursday. 

It's a decision that could have far-reaching implications for law enforcement surveillance practices.

Judge Elizabeth Yost Neidzwski of Skagit County Superior Court ruled images captured by Flock brand cameras qualified as public records subject to the state's Public Records Act, siding with a tattoo artist who had sought access to the data from multiple police agencies.

"I felt like that's violating my privacy, everyone's privacy, regardless if you are obeying the law," Rodriguez said. "It's not like they are a traffic light camera that takes picture of all the people that are breaking the law by speeding or whatever. It's taking pictures of every single vehicle that passes by."

Emily Guildner, an attorney representing Sedro Woolley and Stanwood, argued that releasing the images publicly would violate individuals' privacy and could enable malicious actors such as stalkers. She said the present court case involves "a fairly specific issue regarding a very valuable and effective enforcement tool."

Now I want you to think for a second; a ex-husband check up on their ex-spouse or looking at who is going in and out a a fraternity clinic? What about a trans clinic?

A cisgender woman in Arizona is speaking out after she says she was harassed by cops in the women’s restroom of a Tucson Walmart late last month.

Kalaya Morton, 19, of Phoenix, says she and her ex-girlfriend were using adjacent stalls in the store’s women’s restroom when two male sheriff’s deputies entered.

“They were flashing lights on our feet and saying, ‘You have to get out of here. You have to come out. We need to talk to you,’” Morton told Advocate.

Morton, who identifies as a stud — queer slang for a Black masculine-presenting lesbian — says she believes a store employee who had been eyeing her earlier reported her to the cops believing she was a man. As the Advocate notes, Arizona law does not dictate that people use public restrooms that correspond with the sex they were assigned at birth.

In social media videos and in her interview with the outlet, Morton said that when she exited the bathroom stall, she lifted her shirt to prove to the deputies that she was a woman. But, she said, one of the deputies continued to insist she “looked like a man.”

How horrible that she has to go through this s**t because the Trump and the Republicans are stirring hatred against us!

A little more than three weeks ago, President Trump placed the Washington, D.C., police under federal control and put the National Guard on the city's streets to crush crime and "clean up" the nation's capital.

Although crime in the District of Columbia was already in decline after spiking during the pandemic, the administration has cast the operation, which also includes a surge of federal law enforcement officers, as a major success.

"We've had some incredible results," Trump said last month while visiting law enforcement officers in southeast D.C. "It's like a different place. It's like a different city."

Yeah... it is like they are an occupied city!

Trump, who travels in an armored limousine with a huge security detail, also said: "I feel very safe now."

The White House said on Tuesday that 1,669 people have been arrested since the president's surge of federal officers into the nation's capital began on Aug. 7. A sizable chunk of those arrests are for immigration-related offenses.

The administration has not provided the names or case numbers for any of the individuals who have been arrested or what they've been charged with on an individual basis, despite repeated NPR requests for such information.

While President Trump billed the federal law enforcement surge in the nation's capital as an effort to crack down on violent crime, internal government data obtained by CBS News shows nearly 40% of over 3,500 arrests made since the operation began in early August were immigration-related.

The federal government statistics indicate that, as of Sept. 29, federal and local law enforcement officials assigned to the Trump administration's high-profile operation in Washington, D.C., had reported making just over 3,550 arrests.

Nearly 1,400 of those arrests were counted as administrative arrests by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, the federal agency spearheading Mr. Trump's mass deportation campaign. Those arrests involve immigrants ICE seeks to deport because of alleged civil violations of federal immigration law, like entering the U.S. illegally or overstaying a visa. It's unclear how many of those arrested by ICE had criminal histories in addition to their alleged civil immigration violations.

Do they sound like harden criminals? Or do they sound like a bunch of minor infractions?

Agents and officers deployed throughout the capital have also seized over 300 illegal guns and issued roughly 650 misdemeanor citations, plus more than 300 traffic citations, according to the data.

Wow! And how many would the DC police ordinary seized... probably about the same number.

One month after President Donald Trump’s law enforcement surge in the nation’s capital, there may be less crime. There are fewer guns on the streets and fewer homeless encampments, according to official figures. But for some who work or live in Washington, D.C., the operation has sparked fear and prompted a change in how they see their place in the United States — and how they think the United States sees them.

Crime appears to have gone down. But it was already falling

The president has lauded his surge as a resounding success. But reality is less clear cut.

According to data released by the White House, there have been more than 2,100 arrests from August 7, when federal law enforcement began their deployment, through September 8.

The White House says those include 20 suspected gang members, including several from the MS-13 and Tren de Aragua groups. In addition, 222 firearms have been seized and 50 homeless encampments dismantled, according to the White House.

And they are proud that they 50 homeless encampments dismantled?

D.C.’s mayor caught between Trump and her voters

Mayor Muriel Bowser has mostly avoided the kind of biting rhetoric and personal attacks against the president that has been typical of other high-profile Democratic leaders.

Instead, she cooperated with the administration’s efforts, including having MPD officers work more closely with federal immigration agents, as Trump has demanded.

The nation’s capital is taking stock of its future

If, as anticipated, the emergency is not extended by Congress, the MPD will no longer be under the president’s authority and participating in federal operations, like immigration roundups.

The surge may have damaged community relationships

The takeover, with uniformed and armed Guardsmen patrolling Metro stations, tourist sites and neighborhoods, unnerved many residents. In one storied D.C. neighborhood with a traditionally high crime rate, residents felt they wanted more law enforcement, but not the kind Trump had deployed, especially as it came with the use of masked ICE officers taking people into custody.

This whole thing is nothing more than a publicity stunt by Trump to stir up unrest so he can use even more troops!
