Cuckoo Award

We have another winner of the coveted Cuckoo Award... this time it once again goes to the Trump adminstrator's crazy ideas. This one is tying the drop in the birth rate to mass transportation!
The federal government is seeking to revamp a national program that supports rail and bus rapid transit.
Politico

Communities with high birth and marriage rates could soon gain an advantage in securing federal transit money — a long-sought goal of the Trump administration but one that a top Democratic appropriator calls “bizarre and dystopian.”

The Federal Transit Administration wants to revamp a multibillion-dollar program that helps state and local authorities fund infrastructure projects such as rail improvements and new bus lanes. Public feedback on the administration’s plan, which was rolled out Oct. 1, is being accepted through mid-November.

The idea would fulfill a priority of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy to steer grant money to parts of the country with birth and marriage rates higher than the national average, a policy initiative he unveiled shortly after being sworn into office early last year.
Cuckoo... Cuckoo...
“It’s throwing a bone to these ideologues who want to incentivize child rearing and marriage,” said Peter Rogoff, who previously led Sound Transit in the Seattle area and is now a transportation consultant. “But it’s ludicrous on its face to try to achieve that goal through an infrastructure program.

“Does anyone really believe that there are couples out there saying, ‘Hey, sweetheart, you and I should get married and raise a passel of kids because a dozen years from now, maybe they’ll build light rail out to our neighborhood?’” he asked.
It's bonkers!

With great fanfare the Cuckoo award is given to Transportation Secretary Duffy!

Cuckoo Award: A Trifecta

Can you believe it, the Republicans are racking up the Cuckoo Awards this month. The newest is for butting into the affairs of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Virginia Republican says DAR abandoned founding principles by rejecting motion to bar transgender applicants
By Rachel del Guidice
Fox News
July 15, 2026

A House Republican is introducing legislation that would require the Daughters of the American Revolution to limit membership to biological women, saying the historic organization's congressional charter should reflect its original mission after the group adopted a policy interpreted as allowing transgender applicants.

Rep. Ben Cline, R-Va., introduced the Daughters of the American Revolution Membership Integrity Act on Wednesday.

"The DAR has a longstanding tradition of celebrating and empowering women who represent the exceptional heritage of the birth of our Nation," Cline said in a statement provided exclusively to Fox News Digital.
Not the economy. Not the Iran war. Not the cost of food. Not the cost of gas. But trans people in the DAR is the #1 issue in the United States today. So with that in mind, Congressman Cline is hereby awarded the coveted Cuckoo Award.

Another Cuckoo Award!

Oh... this is a good one! He wants to sanction Canada smoke.

Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio), a close Trump ally, announced Thursday that he will introduce legislation to sanction Canada and Canadian officials over the huge wildfires that have poured smoke and haze across the United States, creating hazardous air-quality conditions.

“I’ll be introducing a bill next week to sanction Canada and the responsible Canadian government officials for this atrocity,” Moreno posted on social media.
Cuckoo, cuckoo, cuckoo!

And he is not alone!
Four Republican members of the House wrote an angry letter to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, blasting his government for not doing more to prevent the crisis.
The Cuckoo Award is given to the four of them... for this hairbrained bill!

Cuckoo Award

We have a WINNER! A real winner for the coveted cuckoo award, I mean this is a real winner!
AP News

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced Wednesday that he is rolling out a new screening program for “testosterone deficiency” among troops, calling it necessary to allow them to operate at their “absolute best.”

The screenings will be conducted annually as part of service members’ required medical screenings for those 30 and older, he said. Troops under 30 can volunteer to be tested. In a video on social media, Hegseth said receiving testosterone replacement therapy would be voluntary.
Cuckoo! Cuckoo!
The move comes as other Trump administration officials have begun to advocate for men to have easier access to testosterone replacement therapies, but the messaging from Hegseth and others blends known science on the hormone with broader, and less substantiated, claims.
You know the more T you have the more you chance of heart problems!

So today's Cuckoo Award goes to Sectary of Defense Hegseth

But on a serious side...

Testosterone use in the military has previously come under scrutiny
When asked what conditions Hegseth was looking to address with the new policy, the Pentagon referred to Hegseth’s remarks in the video that mentioned keeping troops “strong, resilient and capable” and that the rigors of the modern battlefield demand “maximum psychological and mental readiness.”

Over the past several years, special operations troops — and specifically Navy SEALs — have come under scrutiny for their use of testosterone and similar substances to enhance performance.

The death of a SEAL recruit during training in 2022 led to a discovery of substances in his possession, including testosterone, and revealed far more rampant drug use among the elite program than was previously acknowledged.

A year after the recruit’s death, the Navy said it would begin a drug-testing program to screen for “any hormonal substance, chemically or pharmacologically related to testosterone, that promotes muscle growth.”
They are playing with fire!

The U.S. Department of Education posted a historic photo to Facebook on Wednesday proclaiming, “American history is worth learning.” The image shows women in clothes from the early 20th century demanding the right to vote. It’s an inspiring thing to behold. But it’s not American history. The photo is from the United Kingdom.
Only this is really British suffragettes demanding the right to vote in London around 1912
Ops...

So with great fanfare the coveted Cuckoo Award is give to the DoEd staff!

Cuckoo Award: Click Bait

Just take a look at this headline in the National Enquirer!

It brought out the MAGA in a fit. They are out for blood... How dare they keep me from flying my flag!!!!
Massachusetts Residents Advised Not to Fly American Flags Ahead of July 4.
Well, first off, it is not the whole state, but only one town.

Also, it is only in part of that town.

In a nature preserve where endangered birds are nesting.
“Are you serious?” Sarkady told the outlet of his reaction. “You’re telling me I can’t fly American flags on my property to celebrate America 250?”
Hey, man, when you bought the property, there was a covenant on the property deed, which is a legally binding promise or rule attached to the land that dictates what an owner can or cannot do with their property. And now you're bitching about it because they're telling you that you have to obey what you agreed to do!

You are hereby awarded the Cuckoo Award!!

You see the island is the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, which serves as one of the most critical nesting habitats in New England for this federally threatened shorebird. Annual Beach Closures: The majority of the refuge beaches are closed to public access from April 1st through August. This gives the tiny, camouflaged chicks and nests protection from accidental human disturbance.

Cuckoo Award!

Today's Cuckoo Award is going out to the states with straight Pride!

Yeah... the majority gets to gloat over all the discrimination they heap on the minorites!
Fernando Cervantes Jr.
USA TODAY
June 3, 2026

Several Republican-led states have moved to designate June “Nuclear Family Month” or similar observances, creating an overlapping contrast with Pride Month.

Tennessee was the first to adopt the label this year, followed by proclamations in Indiana and Alabama emphasizing households with a mother, father and children. Supporters frame the observance as recognition of traditional family structures, while opponents say the timing and language amount to political counterprogramming that excludes LGBTQ+ families.

“Homes led by stable parents, a father and a mother, provide children with the structure and discipline necessary to succeed,” Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey, a Republican, said in a statement. “In Alabama, we celebrate these hardworking parents that strive for an even better future for their children.”
Yup, like the guy with three wives and five children from them. And he was having an affair with while married to one of them.

Before I came out as trans, I never knew anyone LGBTQ+ and I believe that the lie that they hopped form one bed to another. The first couple that I met were together for 40 years!

Cuckoo Award Winner

Folks we have a new winner!

Today's Cuckoo Award goes to Homeland Security Secretary Mullin for his idiotic statement about closing international airports to international travel just because the airports are in sanctuary cites.
The Hill
by Rebecca Beitsch
06/02/26

National security experts and the airline industry are cautioning against Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin’s threat to pull U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) from international hubs, arguing the “shockingly naive or dumb” plan would cause airline chaos for Americans of all stripes.

Mullin floated the plan last week during an appearance on Fox News following protests outside a New Jersey detention facility in which Sen. Andy Kim (D-N.J.) was among those affected by pepper spray fired into the crowd.

Mullin said as a response to the chaos he was “drawing up plans” to yank CBP officers stationed at airports in so-called sanctuary cities.
Duh... exactly what did he expect? Stopping air travel to probably tens of millions of traveler!
“Our major airports servicing international flights in the United States are at max capacity. I mean, that’s what they do. They lease gates to airlines based on how many gates they have available. Those airlines are not authorized to arrive at other airports because they don’t have gates,” she said, calling the arrangement “obvious” to anyone with knowledge of the industry.

“Guess who’s on those international flights? Americans, and often they’re red Americans. This idea that this is only going to hurt blue people in blue cities is shockingly naive … it’s either shockingly naive or dumb. And my only hope is that the airline industries are making this case a little bit more diplomatically than I’ve been.”
So it with great pleasure I award this Cuckoo Award to the person who makes threats without upstanding the consequences of their action to Secretary Mullin.

A Double! A Double Cuckoo Award!

For the very first time a double Cuckoo Award is being given out! The first award goes to Trump for his post on Truth Social...
'Trump Called India A Hellhole,' Reporter Tells Marco Rubio. His Response
The exchange referred to an incident in April when US President Trump shared on social media a derogatory post by a podcaster that described India as a "hellhole".
NDTV
May 25, 2026

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio faced a curveball from an American journalist about his recent remarks on India during a press briefing in New Delhi on Sunday, as he stood alongside External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.

A reporter raised the issue of Indians facing racism online and referred to a specific social media post involving US President Donald Trump. Rubio responded by saying he did not know who the reporter was referring to and had assumed the question concerned general online content.

"I don't know who he was talking about. I figured, I assumed that he was talking about people posting stuff online," Rubio said. "I don't even know, some of those could be a troll, it could be a bot, I don't know. So that's why I asked him specifically, can you tell me what you're talking about and who you're talking about. He didn't have a specific example."
And boy when he found out that his boss said he did a quick two-step!

So the first Cuckoo Award goes to Trump for calling India a "hellhole" and to Rubio for putting his foot in his mouth.

Cuckoo Award

We have anther winners... and losers.
The federal government wants to open up the land to ranchers to raise livestock for food.
The Daily Beast
William Vaillancourt
May 5 2026

The Department of Interior is moving to evict from the Montana prairie hundreds of bison—a symbol of the American West and the once-critically endangered animal on the department’s own seal.

The Bureau of Land Management, a division of the Trump administration department, revoked American Prairie’s license to graze bison on federal lands in Phillips County, which has more square miles than Connecticut. The bureau, the New York Times reported, cited the Taylor Grazing Act of 1934 to claim that the land should be used to raise livestock for food. The 900 bison that roam the lands, it said, were wildlife.

The move—which has yet to go into effect but could as soon as the spring—has naturally been praised by ranchers, Republican lawmakers, and business leaders.
Anything that hammers tree huggers!
The bison are tagged and vaccinated, the foundation says. It leases land where the animals aren’t roaming to local cattle ranchers, and it maintains electric fences, allows public access through its land, sends bison to Native American tribes to boost their herds, and donates meat to food pantries, according to the Times.
But hey, the tree huggers haven't bribed er... donated to the Republican!
The Bureau of Land Management’s decision “is not grounded in new impacts or new information,” Fox told the Daily Beast in a statement. “It appears to be completely arbitrary and unfair.”

In a February press release, Fox argued that the proposal “is an unprecedented reversal of BLM’s own decision-making after more than 40 years of treating bison as eligible livestock under federal grazing law.”
Hey! Under Trump, we got the best government money can buy!

Cuckoo Award: We Have A Winner!

You know, it is so hard for them to say. It is right there on the tip of their tongues: Biden won the 2020 election.

Today's Cuckoo Award goes to a group of people who just can’t bring themselves to say it... Biden won.
“What would be wrong if they said Biden won?” asked the Republican senator, who has berated Democrats for asking Trump's nominees this question.
HuffPost
By Jennifer Bendery
Apr 30, 2026

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) apparently forgot that he’s supposed to be helping President Donald Trump’s judicial nominees avoid saying that Trump lost in 2020, when a hot mic picked him up asking his staff why they won’t just say Joe Biden won.

“What would be wrong if they said Biden won?” Grassley, the 92-year-old chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, was heard loudly asking his aides in a Wednesday hearing.
Good question senator!
It’s hard to make it out, but you can hear Grassley’s question right around the 1:17:20 mark of the hearing. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) turns his head as Grassley speaks, and in the background, some staffers look surprised by what they heard. Two people who were in the hearing room later confirmed to HuffPost they heard Grassley ask his full question.

The GOP senator’s question came as Blumenthal was in the middle of asking four of Trump’s judicial nominees who won in 2020. All refused to say Biden won.

[...]

Most importantly, Grassley’s question gets at the heart of why Democrats have been asking Trump’s nominees about 2020 at all: because it’s alarming they won’t say he lost and arguably disqualifying, as it raises red flags about their ability to be impartial judges versus loyalists to this president.

That just shows you the craziness in Washington, doesn't it? These people are terrified of the wrath of Trump! How can they be expected to rule on the law when they are so afraid of one man?

So, without further ado, the coveted Cuckoo Award is given to all the judicial nominees who refused to answer!

Cuckoo Award: Going Cuckoo Over The Straits

If this wasn't so serious it would be a three ring circus. What? Trump's War. It is so crazy it wins the Cuckoo Award!

Here is a brief summary...  Iran closes the Strait almost immediately after Trump announced it was opened. Which was contingent on an Israel/Lebanon ceasefire. Trump said he had ordered Israel to do so.  Israel said that Trump is not the boss of them and bombed Lebanon to prove it. Iran now has total control of the Strait. Turns out Trump lied about sinking all their ships, too.

What did we call that back when I was working? A Cluster F**k?
Iran closes Strait of Hormuz again over U.S. blockade and fires on ships
Iran’s joint military command warned it would continue to block transits while the U.S. blockade remained in effect.
AP News
By  SAM METZ and SAMY MAGDY

The standoff over the Strait of Hormuz escalated again Saturday as Iran reversed its reopening of the crucial waterway and fired on ships attempting to pass, in retaliation after the United States pressed ahead with its blockade of Iranian ports.

New attacks on the strait, through which roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil normally passes, threatened to deepen the global energy crisis and push the countries into renewed conflict as the war entered its eighth week.

A fragile ceasefire is due to run out by Wednesday. Iran said it had received new proposals from the United States, and Pakistani mediators were working to arrange another round of direct negotiations.

Iran’s joint military command said “control of the Strait of Hormuz has returned to its previous state ... under strict management and control of the armed forces.” It warned it would continue to block transits while the U.S. blockade remained in effect.
Trump's is being run like a three ring circus! But unlike the circus people are dying.

Cuckoo Award! Got Milk?

I’ve never given the coveted Cuckoo Award to Congress before, but they’re well on their way to earning it by passing a truly crazy bill on behalf of an industry.

The milk industry!
March 10, 2026

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Rep. Chellie Pingree (D-ME) introduced H.R. 7880 on March 10, 2026 – the latest and most politically significant push yet to lift the FDA’s decades-old prohibition on transporting raw milk across state lines.

On March 10, 2026, Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY) introduced H.R. 7880, the Interstate Milk Freedom Act of 2026, in the 119th Congress. The bill would prohibit any federal department, agency, or court from interfering with the interstate transport of unpasteurized milk and milk products that are packaged for direct human consumption – stripping the FDA of the regulatory authority it has used since 1987 to effectively ban raw milk from crossing state lines.
And yes, that’s from a milk industry website.

Why are they doing this? The usual political talking points: “food freedom,” “small farm rights,” and “less federal regulation.” It echoes the same mindset seen in anti-vaccine movements.

What’s wrong with raw milk? Like anti-vaccine rhetoric, it ignores the role of public health. Raw milk can spread disease.

Common diseases associated with raw milk:
  • Salmonellosis – causes diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps
  • E. coli infection – can range from mild diarrhea to severe kidney complications
  • Listeriosis – especially dangerous for pregnant people, newborns, and older adults
  • Brucellosis – can cause long-term fever, fatigue, and joint pain.
  • Tuberculosis – historically spread through contaminated milk
People with weakened immune systems, children, pregnant individuals, and older adults are especially at risk.

Once again, it’s about “me, me, me” and not “us.”

So today, I award the coveted Cuckoo Award to Congress for its idiocy in bowing to the milk industry.

Cuckoo Award --- Just Another Crazy Idea From Fearless Leader

Not only is Trump being awarded the coveted Cuckoo Award but with a Gold Star! He out did himself this time, get a load of this!
Local leaders have rejected the idea of transforming the tourist destination, but the White House says it’s a priority.
The San Francisco Standard
By Cyrus Farivar
Apr. 3, 2026

President Donald Trump’s pipe dream to reopen Alcatraz as a federal prison entered a new phase Friday as the White House called for $152 million in next year’s budget for the project.

Buried on Page 44 of the White House’s newly released 92-page spending proposal(opens in new tab) is a brief suggestion that Congress spend $152 million on “the first year” of rebuilding “Alcatraz as a state-of-the-art secure prison facility.” Estimates suggest it would cost far more to accomplish that goal.

It’s one of the few proposed increases in domestic spending. Trump also called for drastic cuts that include eliminating the Department of Education and reducing the budget of the National Institutes of Health by $5 billion.
It’s less about practicality and more about performative politics,  signaling a brand of decisiveness and toughness that energizes the base, but everyone else says that its down right cuckoo!

Cuckoo Award!

Today's award goes to Trump for an idiotic statement about oil...

President Donald Trump had a message Tuesday for U.S. allies whose access to oil has been imperiled by the White House’s war against Iran: You’re on your own.

“All of those countries that can’t get jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz, like the United Kingdom, which refused to get involved in the decapitation of Iran, I have a suggestion for you: Number 1, buy from the U.S., we have plenty, and Number 2, build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT,” he wrote on Truth Social Tuesday.
Oil is a global market!

Oil is a big bucket where everyone pours the oil into and which everyone dips into.

So for the stupidly I award the coveted Cuckoo Award to Trump!

Cuckoo Award: Whoa! Two In One Day!

Can you imagine going to war without checking your weapon stockpile?

You really have to be Cuckoo to do that!

US President Donald Trump claims his country has a "virtually unlimited supply" of key weapons. Iran's defence ministry says it has "the capacity to resist the enemy" for longer than the US had planned.

Weapons stocks and supplies alone will not decide the outcome of this conflict – Ukraine has long been outnumbered and outgunned by Russia – but it's certainly a significant factor.

The tempo of operations has been high from the start. Both sides will already be using up weapons faster than they can be produced.

The Tel Aviv-based Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) estimates that the US and Israel have already carried out more than 2,000 strikes, each involving multiple munitions.
Duh!
"If President Trump is willing to draw down on the number of Patriots, then I think we can outlast the Iranians – but it will come at a cost of risk in a potential Pacific conflict."

The fact that Trump is set to meet US defence firms later this week is a sign that there is some concern about weapons stocks. But the US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth insists "Iran can't outlast us". On this, he's probably right.
This is what happens when you have fanatics in charge! So I award this Cuckoo Award to our bumbling idiot who went to war without checking the stockpiles of weapons om hand!

You're not going to guess what RFK Jr, is going after now! Your morning cup of Joe!
Fernando Cervantes Jr.
USA TODAY

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., raised in Massachusetts, is challenging the state's beloved coffee chain, Dunkin', over the safety of its sugary drinks, triggering a caffeinated showdown with the governor.

Speaking at a rally last week in Austin, Texas, Kennedy said he plans to press major coffee chains including Starbucks and others to prove their ingredients are safe, zeroing in on the sugar content of some popular beverages.

“We’re going to ask Dunkin’ Donuts and Starbucks, ‘Show us the safety data that show that it’s OK for a teenage girl to drink an iced coffee with 115 grams of sugar in it,’” Kennedy said. “I don’t think they’re gonna be able to do it.”
So all of you caffeine freaks out there beware he is coming after your morning cup of Joe!

It is with great honor that I award RFK Jr. the coveted Cuckoo Award!

Cuckoo Award: Happy Trails To You!

So what got the right-wing kooks up in a tizzy this time? Well, it’s their old nemesis — contrails! You know, those clouds that planes leave behind while obviously spraying chemicals for a secret CIA experiment.
The Post and Courier
By Nick Reynolds
Dec 11, 2025

A S.C. Senate subcommittee advanced proposed legislation to ban the airborne release of chemicals into the atmosphere, setting the table for a fuller Senate debate on the alleged existence of a shadowy government plot to engineer weather patterns via “chemtrails.”

Sponsored by Easley Republican Sen. Rex Rice, Senate Bill 110 is one of several proposals on this year’s legislative docket seeking to prohibit the practice of intentionally releasing chemical compounds, substances or contaminants into South Carolina airspace with “the express purpose of affecting temperature, weather, or the intensity of the sunlight.”

The policy push is not unique to the Palmetto State.

Once relegated to the realm of conspiracy theorists, several red states — including Florida and Tennessee — have taken the fears into the mainstream, enacting similar legislation in their own states despite the federal governments’ insistence that toxic, weather engineering chemicals dispersed from planes are not actually a thing that exists.
Now, if these right-wing nuts would stop and think for a moment… why are they accusing Trump of doing this? Oh wait! They think it’s a Democratic conspiracy — but Trump is running the CIA now. So… are they accusing Trump?
But among the supportive lawmakers on the committee and the four witnesses who spoke Dec. 11 — all of whom spoke in support of the bill — the word of the federal government was irrelevant. The federal government, they said, could not be trusted, while federal officials themselves have suggested, like Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. did in May, that the War Department has been adding chemicals to jet fuel to alter the atmosphere.
Oh... It is the Trump right-wingers are blaming! What happened to party unity?
“If states fail to block these actions with legislation by providing their own governance, then we will continue to be manipulated by the federal government, stakeholders and the U.N.,” said Denise Sibley, a Tennessee physician who aided lobbying efforts for similar legislation in her state.
Yeah! States' Rights to go off the deep end!!!

The feds even have a webpage to clam these nut-jobs fears and it only increase their fear of a "government coverup!"

So today’s coveted Cuckoo Award goes to the Republicans who voted for this farce. 🏆

Cuckoo Award

The problem with giving out the Cuckoo Awake is that there are so many choice to chose from but one popped right there up on the radar as a bright blip.
The president said he had received his “best numbers ever” after a week when he had his worst.
The Daily Beast
By Adam Downer
Nov. 22 2025

Donald Trump woke up early to boast about his supposed popularity with American voters in a winded rant.

“I HAVE JUST GOTTEN THE HIGHEST POLL NUMBERS OF MY ‘POLITICAL CAREER,’” crowed the president on Truth Social Saturday morning.

It is unclear what polls Trump is referring to, as multiple polls taken in November have found that Trump’s approval rating is at its lowest for his second term.
A Fox News poll found that 41% of voters approve of the job he is doing, while 58% disapprove. It seems Trump may have misread the numbers and thought the 58% disapproval reflected 58% approval—and for that, he earns the Cuckoo Award!
