It Is A Vicious Cycle We Are In.

Violence against us is increasing assaults and murders of trans people is increasing.

Two men charged in connection with an alleged attack on a transgender woman at UW-Madison’s Memorial Union appeared in court Tuesday, where Dane County Court Commissioner Brian Asmus set cash bonds of $75,000 and $100,000.

Yorfred Marcano Gutierrez and Arturo Santos Albujas each face charges of attempted second-degree sexual assault as a party to a crime, strangulation and suffocation as a party to a crime, false imprisonment as a party to a crime and misdemeanor battery.

According to the criminal complaint, the alleged attack happened early Saturday morning at Goodspeed Pier.

The complaint states the two men had been making advances toward other women on State Street before approaching the victim. She told police the men asked her to walk with them to a boat they said they had at the pier. Once there, she became concerned when she did not see a boat and tried to leave.
But she wasn’t the only one attacked.
Tucson police say shooter died at hospital; carried list of local LGBTQ businesses

Two men were killed outside Tucson's Venture-N early Monday morning, while the shooter died at a nearby hospital. Police are investigating the murder-suicide as a hate crime.

Authorities say Ousman Ceesay, 44, fatally shot two men at the business at 1239 North 6th Ave. shortly after midnight.

Ceesay confronted the men in the longtime gay bar's parking lot before shooting them, and then himself, authorities said.

The two victims, 42-year-old Vincent Anthony Siqueiros and 33-year-old Cameron Davis Capara, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Ceesay was found suffering from gunshot wounds and taken to a local hospital, where he died soon after.

Tucson police said they found a note on Ceesay with several LGBTQ-associated businesses written on it.

"Bias-based crimes are especially heinous and have no place in our community. Our investigators are thoroughly examining the evidence and pursuing all available leads as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding this tragic incident," said Tucson Police Chief Monica Prieto in a news release.
We have to end this cycle of hate! We have to end this institutionalizing of hate. Hate flow from the top down. The swamp creatures need permission to crawl out of the swamp. When those at the top look the other way with a wink and a nod.

Figures Do Not Lie.

And you know the rest of the saying…

Well, Trump & Company came out with a report linking us to violence!
The Trump administration’s Department of Health and Human Services has released a new report claiming that support for transgender rights is associated with “left-wing authoritarianism” and a greater willingness to justify political violence.

Critics have dismissed the 20-page report released on 27 August as “junk science” and accused the administration of using taxpayer money to manufacture a justification for targeting trans people and their allies.

The Human Rights Campaign released a statement the same day as the report, writing: “The entities that conducted the supposed ‘research,’ the Manhattan Institute and the Network Contagion Research Institute, are both known conservative-leaning think tanks with track records of producing reports that align with extremist right-wing positions.”

[...]

The report then attempted to connect those views with support for political violence by asking participants about things including damaging property, attacking police and the killings of political and business figures, namely Charlie Kirk and Brian Thompson.

The survey also included 13 statements that respondents were asked to rate their agreement with on a seven-point scale to measure their “left-wing authoritarian tendencies”. Statements included “America would be much better off if all of the rich people were at the bottom of the social ladder”, “We need to replace the established order by any means necessary”, and “Getting rid of inequality is more important than protecting the so-called ‘right’ to free speech”.
You know what this reminds me of? The 2018 study by Lisa Littman, a researcher at Brown University, on “rapid-onset gender dysphoria” (ROGD), and the 2024 Cass Review.

A key principle in any research is where you draw your subjects from. The population you study and the way you recruit participants should have a direct bearing on the question you are trying to answer. In this case, you can see the potential for bias just from the name of one of the research organizations: the Network Contagion Research Institute.

“Contagion”? Being trans is not contagious. We are born this way!
Researchers created their own “Clinical Gender Affirmation Scale” to measure support for trans people, asking participants whether they agreed with statements about respecting transgender identities, names, pronouns, gender expression and children exploring their gender.

The report then attempted to connect those views with support for political violence by asking participants about things including damaging property, attacking police and the killings of political and business figures, namely Charlie Kirk and Brian Thompson.
Okay, I was a researcher on a study funded by HHS through the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS at Yale. I was an MSW intern on the study, and I had to be certified to work with human subjects.

One of the things we had to do as part of the study was “validate” our measures—to make sure they were actually measuring what we intended them to measure.

Somehow, I have very serious doubts that those questions were properly validated.
Critics say the broader concern is not simply the report itself, but how its findings could be used. Certain right-leaning media outlets have already begun citing it as evidence that trans people and their allies pose a threat to American society at large.
As a trans person, this scares the crap out of me.

In Germany in the 1930s, the Nazis did something similar with Jewish people: they portrayed them as a threat to the nation and ultimately declared them enemies of the state.

That history is precisely why I find this kind of rhetoric so frightening. When a group of people is repeatedly portrayed as dangerous, diseased, contagious, or a threat to society, I think we should all be paying very close attention.

Your Paper's Please

I remember back in the fifties the big selling point of our republic was you don't need travel papers when you travel here in the U.S., you didn't need any ID.

But all that under Trump has been changed! A U.S. citizen born in Denver was deported. KXAN writes that...
Morales said he repeatedly told authorities that he was born in the United States and that he had copies of his birth certificate and social security number at his home in Austin that he could share with them. He was deported, anyway. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security disputed his account and accused Morales of having entered the country illegally.

According to Morales’s lawyers, that changed as they provided more documents as part of a lawsuit challenging his removal. His legal team submitted additional hospital records, affidavits from witnesses and his certified birth record from Colorado. The U.S. Department of Justice allowed Morales to enter the country while a lawsuit regarding his detention and deportation proceeds, his lawyers said. His lawyer, Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch, picked him up in Laredo, she said.

[...]

“Brian’s case raises an alarming pattern of behavior on the part of the federal government,  demonstrating that they’re willing to racially profile, detain and deport U.S. citizens, “ Lincoln-Goldfinch said. “In order to prove citizenship, someone who is born in this country has to provide more than just civil documentation about who they are, and the federal government being permitted to require this level of evidence for someone to simply reside in the U.S. is extremely concerning and unacceptable.”
This is what a fascist authoritarian state does.

When I saw this cover on Facebook the first thing that popped in to my head was... and that is why the Republicans pass "Don't Say Gay" laws.

That is why all the censorship. If we only hear the lies they say, the hate will be passed on down. But if they see they truth they won't hate, if they see the truth they will see it is safe to come out.

Here We Go Again!

[Editorial;

Bathrooms, bathrooms, bathrooms! Back in the Jim Crow era, it was bathrooms… “Oh, my little Janie will be in a bathroom with a Black lady!” That was the cry all the way up to the 1960s when Civil Rights legislation started to pass (now the Supreme Court is dismantling a chunk at a time, but more on that in another blog post), and now we are the victims of the same injustice.

In Kansas, the guys are showing the “absurdity” and bigotry of the laws. In Kansas, the guys have come out in our defense!
They’re part of a protest group illustrating the absurdity of Kansas’ anti-trans bathroom ban.

The manager of the Long Branch Lagoon Water Park in Dodge City, Kansas reportedly screamed and rushed children out of the women’s restroom and changing area on August 8 after three self-described “bearded, burly” transgender men wearing yellow “Compliance Crew” t-shirts followed state law and used the municipal facilities matching the sex listed on their birth certificates, trans journalist S. Baum reported.

The men neither removed their clothes nor made any crass comments while in the facility, but they had to provide police “uncomfortable descriptions” about their bodies and genitals in order to avoid arrest. The three are part of an activist group that has been entering girls’ and women’s facilities elsewhere in the state (as required by law) to protest the absurdity of Kansas’ transphobic bathroom ban. The police in this incident had neither heard of the ban’s passage last February nor their expectation to enforce it.
This is how crazy this all is… “neither heard of the ban’s passage last February nor their expectation to enforce it.” Us using bathrooms never had been a problem until they created it.

We need you guys! We need you to keep doing this, get arrested, and sue the pants off of them for false arrest. An opinion article in The New York Times wrote…
“Additionally, please note that the Legislature did not include a grace period for updating credentials,” the letter said. “This means that once the law is officially enacted, your current credential will be invalid immediately.” The law was going into effect the next day.

Kirchstein, who is 41, had transitioned in 2023. She had changed her legal name and her gender marker in the Social Security system, on her passport card and on her Kansas driver’s license. It required jumping through a lot of bureaucratic hoops — the name change alone required a court hearing and proof that Kirchstein had notified her bank, credit card company, landlord and others — but it was worth it, to make it official.

[…]

July: “It was soft fascism.” It was. Fascism usually begins with redefining the nation by excluding certain groups, which are branded threats to national health and unity. The Trump administration has fixated on two groups most of all — immigrants and trans people — in just this way, smearing us (I am a member of both groups) as predatory, sick, at once subhuman and terrifyingly powerful. Even before Donald Trump was elected for the second time, more than half the states had considered or passed legislation limiting the rights of trans people. The process has intensified in the last year and a half, and the law enacted in Kansas in February is one of the most restrictive pieces of anti-trans legislation passed in any state so far.
And they never even thought of trans men… because their transphobia is rooted entirely in misogyny and an obsession with policing women. When they write these laws, they are hyper-focused on controlling women's bodies, meaning trans men completely break their narrow mental models. Their disdain is so great they don't even think of the guys!

But trying to define Mother Nature is impossible.

These laws are not really about us or public safety; instead, they enforce rigid gender norms. Even if they start testing everyone’s DNA, it still will not show a person's true biological sex. For example, the SRY gene is a key part of male sex development. Without it, the developing embryo typically follows a default female developmental path, even though the DNA still shows XY.

Then we have the “gender police” going after women who don’t look like women! I have written about this many times: 2018's Caught Up In Frenzy, 2015's The Bathroom Police…, and back in 2006's Crossing the Gender Norms!

This is nothing more than conservatives trying to enforce their “1950s” anti-LGBTQ+ views upon us. but the modern legislative push goes far beyond simple 1950s conformity—it’s actively authoritarian.

Bigotry?

The U.S. Department of Education held a contest for the Presidential 1776 Award for civics, and the three winners would meet Trump. But there was one small problem... some of them... God forbid... were... immigrants!

It almost didn't happen at all for 15-year-old Aangad Singh, a rising junior honors student at Foran High School in Milford.

Aangad made it to the regional semifinals of the Presidential 1776 Award for civics in Boston, then became one of 20 top finishers from across the United States invited to the nation's capital, then won a spot in the Elite Eight on stage June 9.

Then, the dispute: Did Aangad answer enough questions correctly to land in the top three finishers, with a trip to the Oval Office to meet President Donald Trump and tens of thousands of dollars, as much as $150,000 in prize money? He and his family say yes. Many people on hand at the Kennedy Center the night of the show say yes.
But something happened. The question is... what? Everyone watching thought he was one of the three winners.
But when the emcee – actor and TV personality Mario Lopez – read the names of the finalists, Aangad was not among them. Shocked, disoriented and perplexed, he took a seat in the audience with his family to watch the finals.
As you can imagine, he was devastated. Other contestants came up and said they thought that he won and were perplexed. The website American Bazaar wrote:
What was designed as a program to showcase youth civics knowledge for the nation’s 250th anniversary has left several families questioning the transparency of federal organizers.

The Presidential 1776 Award competition, organized as part of America’s semi quincentennial celebrations, brought top high school scholars to the Kennedy Center in Washington.

[...]

During the taped broadcast, 15-year-old Connecticut contestant Aangad Singh answered a question regarding federal court jurisdiction under Article III of the U.S. Constitution and the on-screen graphics marked two of his points in red as incorrect, despite the phrases matching the Constitutional text.
The Indian Express said of the answers:
The family also disputed the marking of a lightning-round question asking which constitutional amendment abolished slavery. They said Aangad answered “the 13th Amendment”, but the response was marked incorrect, possibly because of pronunciation. They also pointed to auto-generated subtitles from the broadcast, which they said reflected the correct answer.
However, when questioned, the contest officials said the final scores were “proprietary.”
Everyone competing against Aangad Singh thought he’d won the Presidential 1776 Award competition. He wants to know why his answers were marked incorrect.

The Presidential 1776 Award competition was set up by the Trump administration to honor America’s 250th birthday with a civics contest for high school students.

But the family of 15-year-old Aangad Singh believes he may have been kept out of the competition’s final because of his Sikh background and visible turban, NOTUS reports.

[...]

Singh, a rising high school junior who lives in Connecticut, entered the competition in February just like other high school students around the country. He scored well enough to reach the finals in Washington, D.C., at the end of June and make the final eight. But his elimination after that left his family—and many of his competitors—puzzled.
Could it be xenophobia and/or Islamophobia? Was it his turban? He is a Sikh, and people often confuse them with Muslims, even though Sikhism is the world's fifth-largest organized religion and is not related to Islam.
The Wyoming winner was a homeschooled girl who would later be touted by the Department of Education for culture-war propaganda, and the Washington state winner told Trump at the White House that she wanted to attend Hillsdale College, a politically conservative school, to which Trump said he could give a recommendation.
And is it as simple as that... Trump couldn't be seen with a person wearing a turban.

Update: 8/13 @ noon.

KEYT News reported...
Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy released a video last week where he alleged that Singh, who is the son of Indian immigrants, was sidelined to uplift contestants who better aligned with Trump’s agenda. All three of the finalists were White, and one identified as a Trump supporter in an interview with CNN.

“How do you justify running a merit-based competition based upon how much you know about American history, and then denying a kid a place in the winner’s circle, perhaps simply because his parents are immigrants,” Murphy asked.

In a statement to CNN, the Education Department said that all contestants had agreed that judges — fellows from the James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation — “would judge the competition in good faith with full discretion over scoring.”

“They also understood that in the live competition, the judges would have to exercise their best judgment and deliberate in real time. It was a fierce and close competition, and Mr. Singh was an outstanding competitor,” the agency said.
But the question remains why haven't they released the scoring?

Smaller Government.

Wasn't that the Republican manta? How they want to get the government out of you lives. Well now that want to pass a law governing what you can wear to work!

State Rep. Erin Paré is proposing legislation to regulate what transgender school employees wear in school after she says the Wake County school system hired a transgender music teacher. In posts Monday on Facebook and X, Paré said she had received emails and phone calls about “the hiring of a transgender biological male, who dresses as a woman music teacher, in one of our local elementary schools.” Paré, a Wake County Republican, said she had contacted the Wake school system to raise concerns about the teacher’s attire on campus.

[...]

The Wake County school system responded with a statement Tuesday to The News & Observer. “Under Board Policy 1710, the district prohibits unlawful discrimination while taking into account all requirements in state and federal law,” Wake’s statement said.
Now they are going to spend valuable time in the legislature debating this draconian bill.

The Sky Is Falling! The Sky Is Falling!

Just like Chicken Little, the Republicans keep trying to make a mountain out of a molehill!
The Hartford Courant
By Don Stacom
July 24, 2026

Senior Republican state lawmakers are calling on Gov. Ned Lamont’s administration to investigate whether the software system blamed for allowing thousands of non-citizens to register to vote in New Jersey could cause a similar trouble in Connecticut.

At the same time, local Republican candidates and town committees are asking precisely how a non-citizen in West Hartford got onto the town’s voter rolls for five years.

After repeatedly assuring residents that Connecticut’s voting system is among the safest in the nation, Lamont’s senior administrators late this week were minimizing the West Hartford case as a one-off while emphasizing that the man involved — a longtime restaurant owner who moved here from Montenegro — never actually voted.

They acknowledged that Connecticut’s DMV uses some of the same IDEMIA software that’s been faulted for New Jersey wrongly adding names to the voter rolls even when the individuals acknowledged not being American citizens. But the DMV has maintained that Connecticut uses the software for only a tiny part of its process.
Okay, stop right there… out of how many did they find? 6,600 improper registrations that make up roughly 0.1% of New Jersey's total registered voter population. Yeah, it should be zero, but using it to make it harder for marginalized populations to vote is wrong!

In Kansas, they found 1,500 transgender individuals out of nearly 2 million drivers!

The Advocate reported that, in congressional testimony before a Senate panel, NCAA President Charlie Baker stated that he believed fewer than 10 transgender athletes were competing across the entire organization—out of a total population of more than 500,000 college student-athletes, or two out of every 100,000 athletes!

The Republicans want to create fear and blow it all out of proportion! Why? So they can pass bills to limit voting by minorities because they tend to vote Democratic! Why use trans people? Because most people have no idea about trans people, so the Republicans use voters' ignorance to promote their lies and get them to vote Republican. In other words, it is all about POWER! And we are seeing what they do when they are in power: they create fear so they can pass draconian laws and enact policies favorable to their billionaire friends.

They Say That Money Buys Happiness.

But it also buys hate... a lot of it!

Far-right billionaires are behind PragerU, and they are using their wealth to buy animosity against us.

If you were on X at all at the end of last week, then you probably had the misfortune of seeing the term “Detrans” trending. For those who didn’t investigate, here’s the unpleasant rundown: “Detrans” is the latest short film from the Prager University Foundation (better known as PragerU), a conservative nonprofit group best known for its videos that present archaic viewpoints on various civic and social justice topics.

Its latest documentary is about a small handful of people who transitioned as young people and then decided to detransition later. This film is not trending because people love or hate it, by the way. PragerU reportedly paid X $1 million to shove its agenda into everyone’s faces. This tactic should be terrifying to anyone who values speech, because it essentially boils down to a massive misinformation campaign. Although people who detransition certainly exist and are entitled to sharing their story, they account for only about 1% of all trans people.

So you know that the documentary’s creators aren’t acting in good faith when they withholds that context and make it look like giant swaths of trans people regret their decision to affirm their gender. The film makes it seem like kids everywhere are being tricked into being trans — and that this is a widespread problem we should all be worried about.
The Southern Poverty Law Center wrote this about PragerU;
Despite its name, Prager University, more commonly known as PragerU, is not an accredited academic institution in any sense. Instead, it specializes in promoting far-right propaganda through professionally produced media. The organization, which claims it “promotes the American values of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” perpetrates far-right ideology vilifying the LGBTQ+ community, immigrants and people of color.
And these are the exact people Donald Trump is using for his "Freedom 250" program, a blatant rip-off of America 250, the bipartisan, congressionally mandated commission planning community celebrations. To make matters worse, many Republican-led states are now officially using PragerU materials in their public schools!
PragerU was founded in 2009 by Allen Estrin and conservative radio host Dennis Prager. The organization was conceived as a digital media project presenting viewpoints in a succinct and engaging format as “a free alternative to the dominant left-wing ideology in culture, media, and education,” according to the PragerU website.

Since its founding, PragerU has expanded its activities well beyond its initial video series. The organization now produces a broad range of media content including short educational videos, articles, podcasts and social media posts. PragerU’s goal is to indoctrinate and mobilize a conservative audience by framing issues in a way that is both accessible and compelling. This approach has allowed the organization to build a substantial following and influence public discourse on a variety of issues. According to the organization’s own metrics, 30 million unique viewers watch PragerU videos on YouTube every quarter. The PragerU site notes that 60% of YouTube viewers are under the age of 35. Additionally, the organization claims that 55% of its viewers say their civic actions were influenced by PragerU videos, and 85% say they reference PragerU videos during ideological discussions.
They are nothing more than a propaganda machine for the far-right. As the HuffPost article concludes:
Another gag is that the end of the documentary includes a clip of Oli London, who made headlines for claiming to be a “transracial” Korean and who is now a conservative anti-trans advocate. It’s disturbing to be reminded that, for those who don’t personally know any trans people, these types of documentaries might be the only content about trans people they’ll ever interact with. It’s fear-mongering at its absolute worst, and we need to call it out.
The billionaires funding this project exhibit distinct authoritarian tendencies. They remind me deeply of the wealthy industrialists who historically backed the rise of Adolf Hitler.

Surprise! Surprise!

As Gomer Pyle used to say, but is anyone really surprised that gay cruise going to an Islamic country this wouldn't be their response?
The Virgin Voyages ship Scarlet Lady, chartered by Atlantis Events, was reportedly denied entry into Egyptian waters after Turkish authorities barred it days earlier.
The Advocate

A Mediterranean cruise chartered for thousands of LGBTQ+ travelers, most of them gay men, has been blocked from docking at a second country along its itinerary because of who the travelers are.

As The Advocate reported on Friday, Virgin Voyages’ Scarlet Lady, chartered by Atlantis Events for a 10-day sailing from Athens, Greece, to Italy, was denied scheduled port calls in Kuşadası and Istanbul by Turkish authorities last week, citing "moral standards," forcing organizers to change the route shortly before the ship arrived. Atlantis said on its website that Turkish authorities informed the company the ship would not be permitted to dock in either city.
Now come on folks, what were they thinking?

CNN wrote;
“My mind went to the LGBTQ communities in Egypt and Turkey where LGBTQ individuals don’t have the opportunities to just sail away,” passenger Morley told CNN. “Discrimination and the lack of opportunities that come with the shortsighted marginalization of LGBTQ people and other minorities damages far beyond a cruise ship rescheduling.”

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan’s AK Party has adopted increasingly harsh rhetoric against the LGBTQ community over the past decade, sparking condemnation from rights groups. Authorities have banned Pride marches in Istanbul since 2015, citing public safety and security concerns.
What were they thinking? It is like waving a red flag in front of a bull!

They Have Our Backs

Allies step forward to cover our backs down in Florida at an Irish Dance Contest.
A petition has been launched, stating, "We, the Irish dancing community, voice our unequivocal support for transgender dancers".

by Ailo James Kerr

The Attorney General of the State of Florida is threatening legal action against An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha (CLRG), a Dublin-based governing body for Irish dancing, and the Irish Dance Teachers’ Association of North America (ITDANA) if they do not ban trans dancers from competing in an event in Orlando. However, the CLRG and ITDANA are standing their ground in support of transgender dancers and their existing policies.

The North American Irish Dance Championships and Conference is currently taking place in Orlando, Florida, from July 1 to 7. It is a private event organised by the ITDANA and governed by the CLRG, and their policies allow transgender dancers to compete. It is not yet known if the legal framework for Florida’s law banning trans athletes applies to a private international event held in a hotel ballroom.

[...]

“We recognize that this policy is a well-established precedent that represents the will of the Irish dancing community. We recognize that the decision to enact this policy was an informed one, made with the endorsement of the teaching community, in alignment with up-to-date scientific research.”
The Republican hate goes so deep that they butt into a private international organizations.
The petition, started by Gabrielle Siegel, states, “We recognize that success in Irish dance is, and has always been, a multi-factorial result upon which no assigned birth sex can confer a biological advantage. This goes beyond the current scientific research, which states that transitioned transgender athletes demonstrate no significant advantage in any sport.”
What the state of Florida is basically saying we want you to discriminate against people we hate.

Sadly. Things Like This Are Increasing.

The swamp creatures have gotten the green light.
Hartford Courant
By Kaitlin McCallum
July 2, 2026

A 45-year-old Manchester man has been arrested in connection with harassment of a local Islamic center after multiple abusive phone calls were received.

According to Vernon Police, Jason Biggar, 45, is accused of making multiple unsolicited phone calls “containing derogatory and offensive remarks targeting the victim and the victim’s religious beliefs.”

In an arrest warrant for Biggar, the reporting police officer recounts voice recordings allegedly of Biggar, in which the caller uses profane language to slander the victim, Muslims, Arab countries and the prophet Muhammad, and seems to imply that U.S. law allows him to do so.

“So you’re going to record it and then what happens in America? … So what are you going to do, you mother (expletive)? You’re in America. America mother (expletive). This is not a (expletive) Islamic country. … you don’t want to live by the American values. My people have been here for 300 (expletive) years. Your people have been invading here for 30, 40, 50 years … If we ever met in person I would spit right in your face,” the transcription of the recorded call reads in part.
Why? Oh why do people do these things? Where does the hate come from?
A police officer went to Biggar’s house, where Biggar refused to cooperate, the warrant said. He reportedly “refused to open his door or speak with me outside. Biggar was immediately agitated by my presence telling me to get off of his property … he denied making any calls. He then continued to yell over me as I was trying to speak,” the warrant said.
He knew that he fucked-up.

He knew that he messed up.

These incidents are mainly from the “right.” The political rhetoric and language coming from them is what is stirring the pot.

When you look at the targets of their hate, it is against minorities: racism, antisemitism, anti-Muslim sentiment, anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment—all the “-isms.” The question is: why, in the last dozen or so years, has there been a dramatic increase in bias crimes?

When you look at violence from the “left,” it seems to be more of a reaction to the hate directed at them and other minorities.

Violence is never the answer!

What seems to have broken down, though, is the social pressure against bigots. It almost seems that the actions of this administration are actually encouraging it with their language. Some of the adjectives Trump has used to describe Muslims are: “radical Islamic terrorism,” “radical Islam,” “Muslim ban” (travel restrictions), “terrorist,” and “dangerous.” They are all designed to stir up hate.

He uses similar rhetoric against us, calling us: “radical,” “crazy,” “insane,” “dangerous,” “confused,” and “extreme.”

You see the same language being parroted back by his loyal followers.

The Courant article ends with...
“Public condemnation of these acts is essential to ensuring that hatred is never normalized and that every resident can worship freely and safely,” he said.
Remember... when you hear mean, intervene!

Hate Is Spreading

Around the world hate against us is spreading...
Fears of resurgence of HIV/Aids amid loss of access to PrEP drugs as at least 40 people arrested in ‘toxic’ climate
The Guardian
Sarah Johnson
Wed 1 Jul 2026

A “witch-hunt” is under way in Niger, where dozens of people have been arrested for homosexuality in the west African state following the introduction of a new penal code earlier this year.

Up to 40 people have been arrested and 16 men, including high-ranking military officials, have been imprisoned across the country, according to local media.

Organisations providing HIV services to men who have sex with men have had to stop working, according to a source who asked to remain anonymous.

“With the recent witch-hunt, and these arrests that are taking place, the climate here is truly toxic,” they said.

“LGBTQ+ populations are keeping a low profile and have gone into hiding because they are at risk. We have lost contact with many and the recent arrests have exacerbated tensions.”
They are idiots! Diseases never stops. Look at what happened when Reagan didn't do anything about HIV/AIDS and as a result it spread like wildfire. And in Niger it will be even worst because it is in the general population!
Larissa Kojoué, a political scientist and pan-African activist, dismissed the idea of homosexuality being somehow linked to western culture. “Political leaders are using this to advance their own political agenda,” she said. “They claim ‘African values’, sovereignty and culture, all the while happily undermining human rights for people.”
They are taking pages out of Trump playbook.
Examples include Uganda’s 2023 Anti-Homosexuality Act, which made homosexual acts punishable by death; a new law in Senegal doubling the maximum prison term to 10 years for same-sex relations and criminalising the “promotion” of homosexuality; and a bill in Ghana criminalising groups promoting gay rights and identifying as LGBTQ+. Globally, half of the 66 countries that criminalise consensual same-sex acts are African.
There are already Republicans who also want to imprisoned us!

I Agree.

We all have seen it: too many people use their religion to justify their bigotry. As a good friend wrote this...
As a Black trans Christian, I have serious issues with the selective outrage of these San Francisco Giants pitchers and their Pride caps.

Three things you can be sure of in sports each June.

First, somebody will have a Pride Night.

Second, someone will have a public snit about it.

And third, that someone will use the Bible to justify their nonsense.

The latest to follow that predictable route was the group of San Francisco Giants pitchers who decided to wear their now-infamous defaced rainbow logo Pride caps with a scrawled Bible verse, some form of Genesis 9:11-16. The aftermath of the flood, the promise to Noah to never again flood the earth and the symbol of the promise, the rainbow.
They say they are Christians, but they cherry-pick the parts they want and ignore the rest.
One of the players, Landen Roupp, when asked about that symbolism of the rainbow to lesbian, gay, bi and trans people — and the players’ booming statement against it — said, “First of all, as a believer, I would push them to read the Bible,”

Let’s talk believer to believer. Yes, in addition to being a Black trans woman and a sportswriter , I’m a church-going, praying-without-ceasing, footwashing Christian.

[...]

This past Sunday my pastor, faithful like me and trans like me, put forth a point to ponder in his sermon.

“We’ve been an independent nation for 250 years,” he said. “But many people would not call our nation free.”

Given the actions of certain sectors of our body politic and decisions made at home and abroad, the nation’s birthday would be ripe for dissension.
As I have said before, I am not religious, but I believe in God... just not organized religion.

I was raised Catholic and went to Catechism, and the one thing I remember from that time is this:
"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets."

— Gospel of Matthew 22:37–40
So I think those who hide behind the Bible to justify their animosity toward us have flunked the test.

Good Luck

The EEOC doesn't believe in discrimination!
Shepard Scalf said in an EEOC filing that a parent complained to the district that he was transgender.

Shepard Scalf, a Florida teacher who is intersex, is alleging in a new Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filing that his school district fired him because they perceived him as transgender. Scalf was assigned female at birth but identifies as male, per the Monday filing.

In the filing, Scarf claims that, at the same time he was fired, he was told that his performance as a Language Arts teacher at Patriot Oaks Academy in the St. Johns County School District was “exemplary,” and that there was no “merits-based justification” for his termination. Scalf taught sixth grade and had been newly hired for the 2025-2026 school year.

“At the same time, the district knew both that I have a male gender identity (they gave me a placard saying ‘Mr. Scalf’) and that I was assigned female at birth (based on my employment paperwork),” Scarf wrote. “I therefore believe this termination was based on the perception that I am transgender.”
Hey! The Republicans don't care about the little details like he is intersex, all they see is he is not like them. He is different... therefore unacceptable to them.
Per the filing, the letter from Asplen claimed that, due to Scalf being a first-year teacher, his employment was “probationary” and could be dismissed without cause. The letter said he would be placed on temporary leave following a board meeting. Scalf says he was given the choice to accept the probationary release or voluntarily resign. Scalf resigned after being told by the union rep that a resignation would be better for his future career prospects than a termination, according to the EEOC filing.

[...]

After his resignation, Scalf says he received evidence that his termination was due to a parent complaining that he was transgender, per the filing.
It will be a hard uphill battle with Florida and Trump's EEOC

There Are So Many Titles I Could Use

Like what were you expecting?

Really, Texas is one most anti-everything state, they are so far right that they stand in the shadow of Trump.
Muslim delegates and attendees hoping to participate in the state Republican convention were shunned and rejected by members as they espoused themes of party unity ahead of the November election.

To some extent, Mohamed Hussein knew he was preparing to enter the lion’s den.

But he made the decision to attend the Republican Party of Texas Convention to confirm for himself that he had a place in the GOP, even as members of the party have railed for months about the urgency of ending Sharia Law and the so-called “Islamification” of Texas.

What he found was a party that didn’t want him. He arrived with hope but left in tears after being told explicitly that he should leave the country.
The Republican party is a party that is against "The Others"
Hussein was among four Muslims who arrived at the convention in earnest — not as protesters, but as delegates or attendees — to participate in the annual meeting of the state’s most hardlined Republicans as they vote on the party’s priorities and hear from GOP leaders. Two prevailing themes from the Houston gathering were party unity and combatting Sharia Law, a movement that veered into outright Islamophobia by members of the convention.
The Republican party has turned into the party of the White Christian Nationalists

Is This A Casus Belli

The Trump administration is looking for novel ways to rake the trans community over the coals. Now, they are trying to use our own protections against us!
The U.S. Department of Justice inquiry follows a lawsuit from a prisoner in the state’s women’s prison who alleged a transgender woman attacked her there.

The Trump administration on Tuesday launched an investigation into Washington state’s practice of housing transgender women in its women’s prison.

In a letter to Gov. Bob Ferguson, the U.S. Department of Justice cited allegations that the Washington Corrections Center for Women in Gig Harbor has “failed to protect female prisoners from sexual and physical violence, harassment, voyeurism, and intimidation from male prisoners who identify as female.”

The Justice Department argued this could violate the Eighth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution’s protections against cruel and unusual punishment. Washington’s state constitution also prohibits cruel conditions specifically for prisoners.

A state Department of Corrections spokesperson said the agency was notified of the investigation Tuesday morning and plans to cooperate with the Department of Justice.

“DOC remains committed to upholding the rights and providing a safe environment for all incarcerated individuals in our custody,” spokesperson Chris Wright said.

The women’s prison currently holds 20 transgender prisoners, while there are 347 transgender or non-binary individuals held across all state prisons, Wright said.
As I wrote this morning... the federal government doesn't get to determine gender; the states do!
The inquiry follows a lawsuit filed last month against the state by a woman held at the Gig Harbor women’s prison, alleging a transgender woman physically attacked her. The woman alleged several other transgender women were held at the prison.
KUOW reported that,
According to a letter from the DOJ's Civil Rights Division to Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson Tuesday, the investigation is based on information that the state “failed to protect female prisoners from sexual and physical violence, harassment, voyeurism, and intimidation” from transgender women within prison facilities.

In late April, a woman in the prison near Gig Harbor and a nonprofit sued the state Department of Corrections after she said she was attacked by a trans inmate. The DOJ's letter does not directly mention the ongoing lawsuit.

“Washington State must protect women inmates from the inherent dangers of incarcerating them with biological men,” Interim U.S. Attorney Neil Floyd for the Western District of Washington said in a press release. “Our Constitution protects the civil rights of every American, including woman who are in prison and forced by the State of Washington to live with male inmates.”
So  my push back... you mean that there were no other assaults in that prison? I don't know the number but I bet it was more than one, so what this attack so special? Go after the real problem, assaults in prison!

What the Republicans are doing is trying to justify overruling a judge.
Judge Royce C. Lamberth extended emergency protections after transgender women in federal custody detailed alleged sexual violence and abuse in men’s facilities.

A federal judge in Washington, D.C., has again blocked the Trump administration from transferring transgender women in federal custody into men’s prisons, extending emergency protections in a lawsuit that has become one of the country’s most significant legal fights over the treatment of transgender prisoners under President Donald Trump’s second administration.
See! They are trying to use the Washington incident to wave in front of the judge... meanwhile we are getting raped in the men's prisons!
The ruling marks the latest turn in a case that began in January 2025 after three transgender women incarcerated in federal prisons sued the administration over Trump’s executive order mandating that the federal government recognize only sex assigned at birth. The order directed the attorney general to ensure that “males are not detained in women’s prisons” and sought to prohibit federal funding for gender-affirming care in custody.
See! They are trying to wave the Washington incident in front of the judge... meanwhile, we are being raped in men's prisons!

The fact that we are being raped doesn't matter to Trump's cronies; they are only interested in keeping their base riled up. All it will take is one Trump-appointed judge to flip the others!

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It Is Off To Court We Go!

If this makes it through Congress, you know that Trump will sign it, so our only hope will be the courts!

Update: Virginia Democrat who praised LGBTQ+ inclusion is now helping Republicans out trans kids

Republicans in the House of Representatives passed a bill Wednesday with the help of eight Democrats that, if approved by the Senate and signed into law by President Donald Trump, would force teachers across the country to out transgender kids to their parents. It would also ban schools nationwide from acknowledging that transgender people even exist.

The “Stopping Indoctrination and Protecting Kids Act,” also known as H.R. 2616, passed by a vote of 217 to 198. All 209 Republicans who voted supported the measure, joined by eight Democrats. Meanwhile, 198 Democrats voted against the bill.

[...]

The text of H.R. 2616 says it would prohibit any school that receives federal funding from teaching “concepts related to gender ideology.” LGBTQ+ advocates warn the legislation could effectively bar teachers and school staff from acknowledging transgender identities in classrooms, libraries, or student support settings. Earlier versions and related House proposals also explicitly categorized material involving “gender dysphoria or transgenderism” as inherently “sexual,” language critics argued, which treated the mere existence of trans people as inappropriate for children. It could also forcibly out students who are transgender to their families before they feel ready, or even safe, doing so.
The Democrats are scared! Everywhere you read in the news that their loss was our fault. But remember one thing... "It is the economy stupid!"

Book Riot wrote...
What is HR 2616, the “Stopping Indoctrination and Protecting Kids Act?” This bill differs from HR 7661, the national book ban bill, introduced by Illinois Republican House representative Mary Miller (a fan of Hitler). The two bills are closely aligned, especially as Republicans expanded HR 2616 in light of several other anti-LGBTQ+, and specifically anti-trans, education bills.

Under the guise of protecting “parental rights”–which parents’ rights being the question, of course–HR 2616 requires that any school receiving federal funds under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 require parental permission before using a student’s preferred gender, pronouns, or name on any school form or allowing them to use the bathroom or locker room that most aligns with their identity. The bill also prohibits teaching “gender ideology” in public schools receiving federal funding, as defined in Trump’s Executive Order 14168. Executive Orders aren’t laws, and in today’s conspiracy-as-fact landscape, it’s especially concerning that the targets are children.
We have to show the voters what this is... A Red Herring" that out of around 54 million total K-12 students, there are approximately 725,000 who identify as transgender! That is somewhere around 1%!!!!
This bill forcibly outs kids to their parents, regardless of how dangerous the situation would be for the child. It would also limit what can and cannot be taught in classrooms, inevitably meaning the wholesale elimination of concepts from the curriculum and the removal of swaths of books from classrooms and libraries. Trans people and trans history would be banned. As has been said from the beginning of the race to ban books in 2021, none of this has been about the books themselves. It’s been about the eradication of people that don’t slot into the imagined cishet, white Christian ideal. Bullying trans children allows grown adults to feel good, even if it doesn’t provide any solutions to the actual problems in contemporary America.
The bill is spiteful and hurtful and does exactly what the Republicans want... divert the voter from all the crisis now going on in this.

Go after them for passing this bill and ignoring... high gas prices, high food prices... the war in Iran! They put this on the fast track to divert the voters from the real problems and get them mad at us and not them!

"I've seen the Promised Land"

[Editorial]

You all should know who said that! Many people think that was about his summer working in Connecticut, specifically, when he went to a restaurant, looked for the "colored" section, and the waitress replied, "Anywhere you want."

Decades later, that spirit of quiet acceptance is still what makes New England special. I was just watching Yankee Magazine on public television and they visited Wiscasset, ME. I wanted to see if they would feature the famous lobster place, Red's Eats (they didn't); instead, what they showed were all the knick-knack stores in the town.

What I'm writing about is the owner of one of those stores... a gay couple.

The show made it a seamless segue from one business to another—from a store selling homemade candles to a store that sold old books and memorabilia. Period.

Many times I have written about lesbian and gay couples being run out of town. Yet, how beautiful it is that in the liberal Northeast, most people don't care if you're trans, if you're gay, or if you're Muslim... they care only if you are a good neighbor.

History Repeats!

[Essay]

Us old-timers remember the "Dixiecrats." They were the Southern Democratic base—a solid, conservative, Christian, and pro-Jim Crow voting bloc. Led by figures like Strom Thurmond, they held a vice grip on the South. But when the national Democratic Party started moving toward the Civil Rights Act and school desegregation, the Dixiecrats had finally had enough. They weren't just fighting to keep schools segregated; they were fighting to keep the "old ways" alive against anyone who didn't fit their mold.

Even back then, people were fighting back. While the media focused on the big laws, there were protests at places like the Black Cat Tavern and Cooper Do-nuts where queer and trans people stood up against police harassment. Eventually, the Dixiecrats jumped ship to the Republican Party to protect their "traditional" values.

The South was notorious for using the "Poll Tax" to make it harder for Black citizens to vote, but the courts eventually struck that down. Now, the Republicans are trying to do something similar with Voter ID. In some states, you have to pay a fee just to get a copy of your birth certificate. For a low-income family, that’s a big burden—and if they have to take a day off work to get it, that’s an additional cost they can't afford!

Now the ol’ South is rising up again!

Back then it was Sen. Joseph McCarthy and the "Lavender Scare"; now it is the “Transgender Scare.” Instead of Senate hearings, it is Trump’s “Executive Orders!” And here is a twist: helping McCarthy was Roy Cohn. Does that name sound familiar? It should, he was Trump’s long-time mentor and advisor!

And now we have the threat of trans activists being put on the terrorist watch list!

What goes around comes around…
