Transgender Idahoans hope to halt new bathroom law in federal court

A federal judge seemed skeptical about an Idaho law set to take effect soon that will make it a criminal offense for transgender people to use bathrooms that align with their gender identity.

You probably are thinking "Yeah, yeah, another anti-trans law!" but keep reading.

The law, which is set to take effect July 1, would make the first offense a misdemeanor, with subsequent offenses committed within five years a felony.

ACLU of Idaho lawyer Emily Croston, who represents transgender plaintiffs in the case, said the law is unconstitutionally vague and unenforceable in the real world.

“Are we just going to look at folks as they enter a restroom and determine whether or not we think they look enough like a man or a woman? That’s ridiculous,” Croston said.

Idaho District Court Judge Amanda Brailsford repeatedly questioned the state attorney general’s office over these points.

Deputy Attorney General Michael Zarian acknowledged it will be tough for law enforcement to determine whether a crime has been committed.

“It might be difficult on the spot for a police officer to decide. But, if anything, that works in the plaintiff’s favor,” Zarian said, suggesting that fewer people will ultimately be charged.

Brailsford also asked how police will interpret out-of-state identification from states that list a person’s gender identity as their given sex.

At some point, Zarian said making these determinations will be “easy” by using DNA testing to find out a person’s chromosomal makeup.

All very good questions!

The Advocate reports that...

Idaho Solicitor General Michael Zarian told the judge enforcement should be straightforward “because there is DNA testing.” But that suggestion raises significant questions about privacy rights and what level of suspicion would be required before Idaho authorities could demand that someone submit to genetic testing — a tool more commonly associated with investigating serious crimes such as rape and murder.

Zarian went on to tell the judge that a person would not necessarily need to consent before such testing could occur, though he said he doubted anyone would be expected to submit to testing on the spot.

Stop right there... "Say what?" Did he say what I think he said?

Tell me how do you think a cis-gender woman will think about that? That has to prove her womanhood... what an insult! But these Republican men didn't even think about that in their haste to "punish" trans people. But that doesn't trans men in women's bathrooms!

Advocates have long warned that bathroom bans are difficult to enforce without encouraging people to scrutinize the appearance of strangers in public restrooms. Critics say such laws can subject both transgender and cisgender people to harassment when others incorrectly assume someone does not belong in a particular facility.

Such incidents have already occurred. In 2025, a Black cisgender lesbian in Arizona said sheriff’s deputies confronted her in a Walmart restroom after someone mistakenly believed she was transgender. Most notably, U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina and U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado confronted a cisgender woman in a Capitol restroom after mistakenly believing she was transgender U.S. Congresswoman Sarah McBride of Delaware.

Blinded by the hate! In their rabid attack on anything trans they don't think of the ramifications. They have blinders on they are so focused on us. Look at what they did in Kansas, they took back all the driver licenses from trans people. They knew the optics of the bill wasn't good to so they ramrodded it through with very little public debates in hearings nor on the floor of the legislature... i.e. They tried to sneak it though.

Lambda Legal had this to say about the law and you will be surprised who's opposed to the law,

“This law is a dangerous and discriminatory effort to push transgender people out of public life,” said Barbara Schwabauer, senior staff attorney for the ACLU’s LGBTQ & HIV Rights Project. “If you cannot use the restroom at work, you cannot go to work. If you cannot use the restroom at school, you cannot go to school. H.B. 752 undermines the freedom of our clients to live their lives with dignity, and we will do all we can to block it completely.” 

The Idaho Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) and the Idaho Chiefs of Police Association opposed H.B. 752, noting there is no “clear or reasonable way” to determine a person’s sex at birth during a field contact without engaging in “invasive and inappropriate” questioning or searches.  

Analyses of public safety data have found policies inclusive of transgender people’s access to public accommodations have no impact on rates of harassment or violence, but policies restrictive of their access have increased transgender people’s already heightened risks for harassment and violence. Transgender people are four times as likely as their cisgender counterparts to be victimized by violence.

The police chiefs know that this is a bad law.

WV Senate passes bills targeting transgender people, drag performances

Hours before the crossover day deadline, West Virginia senators passed two bills that target LGBTQ+ people on Wednesday.

Senate Bill 590 would prohibit drag shows and other “adult cabaret performance” on public property or where they could be viewed by a minor. 

Under Senate Bill 1083, transgender people who change in a locker room aligning with their gender identity would be guilty of indecent exposure and made to register as a sex offender.

Regarding the second bill; I’m waiting for someone from a state that allows changes to birth certificates to be arrested, leading to a battle before the Supreme Court. Article IV, Section 1 of the Constitution requires that state courts respect the laws and judgments of courts from other states. My official state birth certificate says I am female. So who wins?

The bill prohibits “adult cabaret performance” on public property. It defines “adult cabaret performance” as those that feature “topless dancers, go-go dancers, exotic dancers, strippers, male or female impersonators who provide entertainment that appeals to the prurient interest.”

What I find especially interesting is that the bill even includes go-go dancers—like the ones from Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In and The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour and I wonder if they will also be challenging the bill?

With masked paramilitary forces grabbing nonwhite people from the streets and shooting civilians with impunity, it can be difficult to keep focus on all the other ways Republicans are entrenching a fascist status quo nationwide. For trans people, however, the legislative and policy assaults, which have been escalating red states for nearly a decade, are only getting worse — and, as ever, drawing all too little concern from Democratic leaders.

Just last week, the Kansas legislature passed some of the most far-reaching measures to push trans and gender-nonconforming people out of public life to date. Bathroom bans that bar trans people from restrooms aligned with their gender identity have become grimly common; over 20 states have such a law on the books. But Kansas’s new anti-trans bathroom bill adds a dangerous twist: a bounty hunter provision.

The law would permit private citizens to sue and seek monetary reward based on claiming to encounter a trans person in the bathroom. That’s on top of some of the harshest punishments of any existing bathroom bans, such as criminal charges, steep fines and even jail time.

This is sick!

How can we fight this? We need our trans men friends to start obeying the law and use women's bathrooms! We need our women friend s to dress up looking as masculine to get arrested! We need to tie them up in court with wrongful arrests!

A bill that is being called the “most extreme anti-LGBTQ+ bill” in Indiana was passed by the state’s Senate last week.

S.B. 182 contains several provisions. First, it defines sex and gender in terms of reproductive organs and applies that definition to all laws in the state. Second, it says that trans students can only use the restrooms associated with their sex assigned at birth. Moreover, it allows students to sue schools if a trans classmate breaks this rule. Third, it forces jails and prisons to house trans inmates with their sex assigned at birth.

These laws are designed for one thing... to forced us back into the closet!

S.B. 182 passed the state Senate in a 37-8 party-line vote last week. The bill’s author, state Sen. Liz Brown (R), said that the bill is necessary to protect “women” in “their private spaces.”

Lies, lies, lies there have never been a problem with trans women in bathrooms! But all the Republicans lies are having a toll on the people's perceptions. The Williams Institution at UCLA School of Law found...

While we have found no evidence of increased harms to people who are not transgender when transgender people are allowed to use restrooms and other gendered facilities according to their gender identity, it is a consistent finding across studies and over time that transgender people report being denied access to these spaces and experiencing verbal harassment and physical assault from others in these spaces.

But facts don't matter tot he Republicans in their fear campaign on us. While most American think that the Republican are going overboard on us. The 19^th News reported that,

Many Americans across the political spectrum would prefer that politicians avoid focusing on trans issues at all. Four in ten Americans — with an even split between Democrats and Republicans — think politicians should not focus on transgender issues. This alignment marks a notable difference from 2024, when 33 percent of Democrats agreed with this hands-off stance compared with 53 percent of Republicans. 

Meanwhile behind the smoke screen of the fear of us, the Republicans shred the Constitution!

And as usual in their anger against us... the Republicans haven't thought about the trans men!

While a federal investigation that has zeroed in on a Waterbury Board of Education policy allowing transgender and gender-nonconforming students to participate in interscholastic sports, saying it violates federal law, the policy in question adheres to state policy guidelines, according to top officials.

Meanwhile, Connecticut's top attorney decried the investigation, launched this week by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights, itself as unlawful.

“This is meanspirited and unlawful, and deeply harmful to all Connecticut students," state Attorney General William Tong said in a statement to CT Insider. "... We are aware of this cruel and partisan so-called investigation. While we do not represent local school districts, we are monitoring and depending on what direction this takes we will consider all legal options within our authority to protect Connecticut’s students and schools.”

Almost no one is complaining about trans women in women’s spaces, study finds

Data from hundreds of public bodies in England shows only four complaints about transgender women in women’s single-sex spaces over a period of three years, according to advocacy group TransLucent.

As SceneMag reports, on January 3, the organization released the results of six separate investigations conducted in recent years. Between 2022–2024, TransLucent submitted Freedom of Information requests to major public bodies in England — including NHS hospitals, domestic violence shelters, and local authorities that maintain public restrooms and changing facilities — to see how many official complaints about trans women in women-only spaces had been documented. The investigations specifically examined “whether cisgender women patients or service users had formally objected to sharing spaces with trans women,” according to the report.

Abstract

Safe access to public restrooms is an essential need for participation in civic life, in the workplace, in educational settings, and other public spaces. This is no different for transgender people. However, access to public restrooms according to gender identity has sparked controversy to the extent that transgender people face embarrassment and even expulsion from these spaces. The lack of access of the transgender population to public restrooms has a negative impact on the physical and mental health of this population. Thus, this article aims to address the main consequences that the ban on the use of bathrooms has for the transgender population, specifically the access of transgender women to the women's restroom. We covered some legal aspects of “bathroom laws” and the main arguments in this discussion. We understand that the prohibition of access to the restroom constitutes a form of gender violence and discrimination, as we conclude that the arguments that express concerns about safety are not supported.

Based on our review of sexual assault complaints in Atlanta, Dallas, Miami Beach, Miami Gardens and Tucson, before and after an official amendment to the human rights ordinance in that locality, we did not find evidence of sexual assaults taking place in which men, under the guise of being women or transgender, entered women’s bathrooms to commit a sexual assault or otherwise victimize women. Our overall findings are consistent with the research literature on sexual assault, which indicates that victims of sexual assault are primarily female (over 90 percent) and that, in 8 of 10 cases, the assault is not perpetrated by a stranger but rather by a person known to the victim, such as an acquaintance or intimate partner.

Just like ICE & Minneapolis, Trans bathroom is just another manufactured "crisis" so that the Republicans can spread their lies to drive a wedge in society.

A cisgender woman in Arizona is speaking out after she says she was harassed by cops in the women’s restroom of a Tucson Walmart late last month.

Kalaya Morton, 19, of Phoenix, says she and her ex-girlfriend were using adjacent stalls in the store’s women’s restroom when two male sheriff’s deputies entered.

“They were flashing lights on our feet and saying, ‘You have to get out of here. You have to come out. We need to talk to you,’” Morton told Advocate.

Morton, who identifies as a stud — queer slang for a Black masculine-presenting lesbian — says she believes a store employee who had been eyeing her earlier reported her to the cops believing she was a man. As the Advocate notes, Arizona law does not dictate that people use public restrooms that correspond with the sex they were assigned at birth.

In social media videos and in her interview with the outlet, Morton said that when she exited the bathroom stall, she lifted her shirt to prove to the deputies that she was a woman. But, she said, one of the deputies continued to insist she “looked like a man.”

How horrible that she has to go through this s**t because the Trump and the Republicans are stirring hatred against us!

The Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected a request by South Carolina officials to bar a transgender boy from using the boys' restrooms at his school.

The court denied an emergency request filed by the state, which has recently enacted measures aimed at forcing schools to bar transgender students from using restrooms that correspond with their gender identity.

The brief order stressed that the decision "is not a ruling on the merits of the legal issues presented in the litigation."

Three conservative members of the court — Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito and Neil Gorsuch — said they would have granted the request.

The only issue before the Supreme Court was whether one ninth grade student, named in court papers as John Doe, could use the boys' restrooms at his school while litigation continues.

What this means is that while the case is being adjudicated we can use the bathroom of our true gender.

Nineteen states now have a law or policy banning transgender people from using bathrooms that match their gender identity.

About 1 in 4 transgender people live in states with some form of bathroom restrictions, according to the Movement Advancement Project, a nonprofit research group that tracks LGBTQ+-related legislation.

So far this year, at least eight states have passed new transgender bathroom laws or expanded existing ones.

In March, Wyoming Republican Gov. Mark Gordon signed a pair of Republican-sponsored bills restricting the use of bathrooms and locker rooms in public buildings. The House bill requires public school students and anyone in a government building to use the bathroom or locker room corresponding with their sex assigned at birth, regardless of their gender identity, appearance or the gender on their legal documents. The Senate’s bill, which requires public school students to use facilities that align with their sex at birth, was introduced after a local school board called on lawmakers to restrict bathroom use.

I searched for trans arrested in bathrooms... the only arrests that I could find was in protests of these laws... not one on morals charges. However, there were legislators on moral grounds!

There seems to be no more controversial place in American life right now than the public restroom. It’s become the latest battlefield in the culture wars — an issue so electric that the most powerful politicians in the country have weighed in: President Barack Obama, Attorney General Loretta Lynch, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Ted Cruz, and Donald Trump.

In 2016, at least 15 states have considered “bathroom bills” similar to the legislation recently enacted in North Carolina, which blocks transgender people from using bathrooms that don’t correspond to the sex listed on their birth certificates. Opponents of these proposals have argued that the real impetus isn’t restroom protocol; it’s part of an ugly attempt by social conservatives to score a victory against a surging LGBT movement.

But it would be a mistake to see the bathroom bills as nothing more than a desperate last-minute counterpunch against an ascendant gay-rights movement. There’s a forgotten history at play: For as long as public restrooms have existed, they’ve been a political flash point.

The Republicans look back in history and found it worked once and now they tweaked but it is still about fear... 

In 1961’s Turner v. Randolph case, the City of Memphis, Tennessee, employed this exact rationale in opposing the desegregation of restrooms in its public library. “The public welfare” was at stake, the City argued, because venereal diseases were commonplace among blacks, and an integrated ladies’ room would put white women at risk of catching VD from black women. During this era, segregationist literature across the South told parents to keep their daughters home from integrated schools lest they catch VD from young black women now using the school restrooms. In Mississippi, one white second-grade teacher worried that if her school integrated, her white students would “contract syphilis” from toilet seats used by black children.

Fear of those different from them. They then moved their bathroom fear campaign to the gays!

At the same time, public fears about a “homosexual menace” overtaking the nation stoked alarm that young boys faced sexual danger in public restrooms. A police crackdown on same-sex sexual activity in men’s restrooms in the 1950s and 1960s — this at the time when many Americans equated homosexuality with pedophilia — deepened these worries.

They even handed out flyers warning of gay in the bathrooms!

And then we came along and they modified their "fear campaign" to use on us.

Dani Davis took to Facebook on Monday (24 March) to ask for advice following her dismissal from Walmart, where she had worked for seven years. She wrote that she is a cisgender woman who is “really tall” – 6ft 4in – and gave details of the incident, which she says happened on 14 March at a store in Florida.

While she was alone in a toilet, a man entered and began shouting about trans people, claiming he would “protect his wife or girlfriend from them,” and insinuating that the Davis was transgender.

You can sleep tight tonight, the potty police is on the job!

She reported the incident to a supervisor but a week later was informed that she had been sacked for failing to inform a “salaried member of management” about the interaction, which was deemed a “security risk”, she said.

Boy it sure sounds like Walmart scraped the bottom of the bucket to come up with that excuse.

She has been inundated with messages, comments and people offering advice, she said. “I live in the south where bigotry is unfortunately part of daily life”, she went on to say before revealing that not long ago she was pulled over by police for having a rainbow licence [sic] plate frame. 

So now it is crime to have a rainbow license plate frame? Or was she targeted for being LGBTQ+?

Policy changes and wider implications

Walmart's handling of the case comes amid broader scrutiny of the company's stance on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

In November, the retailer reportedly scaled back internal DEI initiatives following pressure from right-wing activists who threatened boycotts ahead of Black Friday.

The case raises questions about the application of workplace policies and protections for LGBTQ+ employees and customers. Advocacy groups have expressed concern over the potential for discriminatory practices to be overlooked or even reinforced under current policies.

Walmart has since offered to reinstate her, and said: “We want our associates to feel safe and supported in their workplace, and we won't tolerate bullying or threats of violence against our associates or customers. We've reviewed the situation and will be addressing it internally. We've also made multiple attempts to invite Ms. Davis to return to work, with back pay.”

Now Walmart is doing a quick two step backward... Ops, we f--ked up!

The situation has added to the continued debate over employer responsibilities in fostering inclusive work environments, particularly in states where anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment remains a divisive issue.

A bar owner in South Carolina reportedly spied on a trans man while he used a women’s restroom stall and then called him anti-trans slurs shortly before police detained and charged the trans man for public intoxication and disorderly conduct. The trans man, who said he was sober and not creating a disturbance on the night in question, shared his experience on the video-sharing platform TikTok and is now crowdfunding his move to California, where he expects to feel safer.

South Carolina doesn’t have a law restricting trans bathroom use in businesses, and the trans man has an “F” gender marker on his government-issued identification, meaning that his restroom use matched his ID. While businesses can sometimes establish their own policies around bathroom use, Advocates for Trans Equality says that trans people are allowed to use restrooms matching their gender identity under the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Equal Protection Clause of the Constitution’s 14th Amendment.

A transgender Western Carolina University student is sharing her story for the first time on-camera after a viral video of her in a women's bathroom on campus spurred the U.S. Department of Education to investigate the school.

The video, filmed by another WCU student, shows Paige LeBlanc being confronted in that bathroom.

“As I was leaving my stall, I noticed that there was a person in the corner of the room just glaring at me,” said LeBlanc. “As I was going for a paper towel, they double back and they actually bumped my backpack and made contact with me. Not hard, but it made me feel like they were trying to get a rise out of me or make it clear that I wasn’t welcome there.”

When the cameraperson asked why LeBlanc was in the girls' bathroom, she replied: "I'm a trans girl." The person behind the camera responded: "But, you're not a girl," and "I pay a lot of money to be safe in this bathroom," to which the transgender woman responded, "Me too."

It seems like a buttinsky got her tails feathers all bunched up and she has an axe to grind.

The incident led to the university opening an investigation into the student behind the camera, Payton McNabb, before eventually dropping it. McNabb became an anti-transgender activist after a September 2022 incident when she was reportedly hit in the head and injured by a volleyball that, she says, was spiked by a transgender athlete. McNabb has since become a prominent figure in working to prevent transgender women from participating in women's sports.

So she went out hunting to trap a trans person and sic the feds on her. Smokey Mountain News put it this way...

On May 2, 2024, a brief, awkward moment inside a women’s restroom at Western Carolina University was recorded, uploaded to social media and sparked a flashpoint in America’s ongoing culture wars.

At the center of the encounter was Payton McNabb, a former high school athlete and emerging anti-trans activist who walked into that restroom, and Paige LeBlanc, the trans woman and WCU student who was in that that restroom.

Within hours, LeBlanc’s presence in that bathroom had been broadcast all over the world, fueling an incendiary national narrative around gender identity and public spaces. For nearly a year, she remained silent.

Now, she said, she’s “tired of hiding.”

And that my friends is what they want us to do... HIDE! As far was I know there are no federal laws that were broken, an Executive Order is not a law, A president cannot create a law, only Congress!

After defending the actions of a security guard who threw a lesbian couple out of a women’s restroom and accused one of them of being a man, a five-star hotel in Boston has suspended the guard and admitted he acted in error.

Somebody probably whispered in their ear... In Massachusetts it is legal! Because, they then said,

In addition to sidelining the staff member, the Liberty Hotel on Boston’s Beacon Hill said all staff are being retrained “on inclusive practices and guest interaction protocols.” The hotel is also donating to a local LGBTQ+ organization, WBZ News reports.

Boy is that a quick change! Once they realized that the security staff might have tried to cover it up.

As Baker was escorted out, the women said, other women in line for the restroom hurled insults at her, calling Baker “a creep” and demanding she be removed. The security guard then demanded to see the women’s IDs to prove their gender.

After a heated exchange, the couple was told to leave the hotel.

The Potty Police is out there enforcing the gender norms... you had better look like a women! No short hair only long hair, dresses not jeans, high heels not sneakers because the pott police will come an get you!

A woman said hotel security kicked her out of a woman’s restroom and asked her to “prove her gender” by providing an ID.

Ansley Baker said the incident happened Saturday afternoon at the high-end Liberty Hotel in Boston.

Baker and her girlfriend Liz Victor were inside a woman’s restroom at the hotel when they said a male security guard came in and started banging on the stall doors.

“One of the security guards was there telling me to get out of the bathroom, telling me I am a man in the women’s bathroom. I told him I was a woman,” Baker said.

Baker was born a woman, is a woman, and identifies as one. Regardless, she said as she was escorted out of the restroom, offensive comments were hurled at her from other women waiting in line.

Transgender bathroom restrictions take effect as Montana governor signs law

The law requires public buildings including the state Capitol, schools, jails, prisons, libraries and state-funded shelters to provide separate spaces for men and women.

Transgender people in Montana can no longer use bathrooms in public buildings that do not align with their sex assigned at birth after Republican Gov. Greg Gianforte signed new restrictions into law Thursday.

The law, which takes effect with its approval, requires public buildings including the state Capitol, schools, jails, prisons, libraries and state-funded domestic violence shelters to provide separate spaces for men and women.

It defines the sexes in state law based on a person’s chromosomes and reproductive biology, even as a district court ruling earlier this year declared the definitions unconstitutional.

Attorneys for the ACLU of Montana filed a legal challenge to the law within hours of it being signed. They asked a state judge in Missoula to block Gianforte and Monana Attorney General Austin Knudsen from enforcing the law.

A judge on Wednesday temporarily blocked a Montana law that restricts transgender people’s use of bathrooms in public buildings.

The measure, which Republican Gov. Greg Gianforte signed into effect last week, threatened to deprive transgender people of their constitutional right to equal protection under the law, Montana District Court Judge Shane Vannatta ruled. The law prevents people from using restrooms in public buildings that do not align with the sex they were assigned at birth.

The five people who sued over the law were likely to prevail, Vannatta added in his ruling.

The new law “is motivated by animus and supported by no evidence that its restrictions advance its purported purpose to protect women’s safety and privacy,” Vannatta wrote.

If they want to ban us they should also ban pastors and legislators!

After a heated hearing Tuesday in Sacramento, California legislators killed two anti-transgender sports bans introduced by Republican lawmakers. It comes as the Trump administration is investigating a statewide sports organization over the Golden State’s policy that allows transgender student athletes to play on the sports teams aligned with their gender.

Assembly Bill 89 authored by Assemblymember Kate Sanchez (R-Rancho Santa Margarita) aimed to ban trans girls from playing on female athletic teams. AB 844 by Assemblymember Bill Essayli (R-Corona) would also have banned trans boys from playing on male sports teams.

A fool’s errand, as the Democratic-controlled Legislature was never expected to adopt the bills, the votes on the transphobic legislation by the Assembly Arts, Entertainment, Sports, and Tourism Committee was appropriately scheduled Tuesday on April Fools’ Day. The panel rejected AB 89 on a 7-2 vote and AB 844 on a 6-2 vote during the hearing but left the roll open for absent members.

Here in Connecticut the 30+ anti-trans bills including bill that banned us from sports never made it out of committee.

Democrats in the Colorado legislature introduced two bills that would add protections for transgender people in schools and the courts. They’re expected to meet strong Republican opposition.

The Colorado Senate commemorated Transgender Day of Visibility on Monday with a resolution on the chamber floor, but Democrats want to do more than just talk.

They’re also proposing new protections for trans people.

“Transgender Coloradans are part of the fabric of our communities. They are parents, students, care givers, faith leaders and neighbors,” said one of the resolution’s sponsors Sen. Lisa Cutter, a Jefferson County Democrat. “They experience elevated levels of poverty, discrimination and violence.”

All Senate Republicans refused to support the resolution, staying seated as it was presented on the chamber floor while other lawmakers stood in recognition. But their steadfast opposition isn’t deterring the legislature’s Democrats, who introduced two bills on Friday aimed at further protecting trans rights under state law.

At the state capitol here in Connecticut, a rally was held in the Capitol and one of the guest speakers was the Lt. Governor.

 Boxed into what they saw as an unsavory vote on outlawing spending on gender affirming care for transgender prisoners, Georgia Democrats chose a third option Wednesday. They walked out.

Chants of “Take a walk!” echoed under the gold dome of the state Capitol from dozens of House Democrats who said they’re exhausted by a blizzard of bills attacking transgender people.

The bill at hand, Senate Bill 185, would ban state prison spending on “sex reassignment surgeries,” hormone replacement therapy, or other surgeries “intended to alter the appearance of primary or secondary sexual characteristics.”

The 100-2 vote, which sent the measure to Gov. Brian Kemp for his signature or veto, was a chance for Republicans to embarrass Democrats on an issue that the GOP believes is unpopular with voters.

The federal courts have all said you cannot deny us "medically necessary" treatment which includes hormones and gender confirming surgery. So all this really does is play to their base.

Florida state Republican lawmakers have advanced a bill that would allow public employees and state contractors to openly discriminate against LGBTQ+ co-workers without fear of punishment.

The so-called “Freedom of Conscience in the Workplace Act” (S.B. 440) would forbid public employers from requiring workers to use transgender people’s personal pronouns and forbid employers from punishing any employee for expressing “a belief in traditional or Biblical views of sexuality and marriage, or … gender ideology.”

The legislation would also remove “nonbinary” gender options from employment forms and forbid any entities from requiring workers to undergo LGBTQ+ cultural competence training. The bill would not apply to private employers.

One bill would ban local governments from enacting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies (including any recognition of Pride Month) by defunding these initiatives and removing local officials who promote them. Another would prohibit any taxpayer funds from supporting DEI initiatives in state agencies, among state contractors, or grantees.

Of course the state entirely ignores Title VII! Which Trump's Supreme Court ruled in our favor in the 

G.G. v. Gloucester County School Board case and the R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Homes v EEOC & Aimee Stephens case!

Minnesota House rejects bill banning transgender athletes from competing in girls' and women's sports

The Minnesota House has rejected a bill that would have banned transgender athletes from competing in girls' and women's sports.

The Republican-backed bill was voted on Monday evening. All 67 GOP House members voted for the bill, while all 66 Democrats opposed it. Sixty-eight votes were needed for the bill to pass. 

An executive order from President Trump fueled debate inside the Minnesota State Capitol before the vote.

The hours-long debate capped a full day of rallies in support and opposition of the proposal, including a visit from Riley Gaines, a former collegiate swimming star turned activist.

The Republicans even brought in some heavy guns... a women college swimmer to testify. But even with her the bill was rejected the was introduced as a result of a Trump executive order.

"History has never looked favorable upon any movement that criminalizes people based solely on the fact of who they are," Rep. Leigh Finke, DFL-Falcon Heights, said at a news conference Monday afternoon.

These bills and bathroom bills are throw backs to the days of the Jim Crow laws banning Blacks from bathrooms used by Whites. They used the same arguments to ban Blacks, they used the same arguments to ban gays from bathrooms... save the children!

Bill filed in Texas House would ban gender-affirming care for all Texans

A North Texas Republican's House bill would change the wording of the state's ban on gender-affirming care for youth and apply it to all Texans.

What we know:

Rep. Brent Money (R-Greenville)'s bill would prohibit gender transitioning or gender reassignment procedures and treatments for all residents of the state.

The bill would change the wording of the current law that bans those procedures on children by replacing "child" with "person."

It would prohibit medical procedures "for the purpose of transitioning a person's biological sex" or "affirming the person's perception of the person's sex" if the perception is not that person's biological sex.

The bans would apply to surgeries and puberty-blocking drugs.

Exceptions to the ban would allow a doctor to give puberty-blocking drugs to a minor with parental consent to normalize puberty.

The Advocate writes,

It would prohibit surgery, puberty blockers, and hormone treatment for the purpose of gender transition. These treatments would remain allowed for nontrans people with early-onset puberty or an anomaly of sex development. Those already on puberty blockers or other hormonal treatment would have to wean off it — in practice, detransitioning.

A couple of things: First they think that by not allowing us access to healthcare that we will not transition wrong! We will transition no matter what! Second, you know how that they blast that "damages" blockers do are irreversible but now they are all of sudden saying they are okay to use for precocious puberty but not for us. That does not compute!

The Advocate goes on to write...

Money, a first-term representative from northeastern Texas, did not say what he considers “genuine care.” But his campaign website mentions “faith, family, and service to a cause higher than ourselves” and “protecting the innocence and lives of children.” He has also introduced an anti-abortion bill that defines life as beginning at fertilization. He was endorsed by Donald Trump.

In other words he wants to push his religious beliefs on everyone!

My prediction: That the next round will make going out in public a crime and they will use the excuse of "protecting the children"!

A bill filed in the Texas House co-authored by a majority of the chamber is aiming to restrict the use of bathrooms by transgender people in public spaces and may potentially go further than previous iterations of similar bills to outline restrictions and penalties.

House Bill 239 would mandate that family violence shelters, prisons and bathrooms and locker rooms of state and county buildings are segregated by state definitions of sex, and create fines for those who violate the bill’s provisions. HB 239 does allow for single-person and family restrooms, and creates exemptions for children under 10 and those who may need assistance using facilities, likey the elderly.

The bill comes as some Texas lawmakers, including Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, have become increasingly vocal about bathrooms being used in the state Capitol by transgender people.

Hey guys! We need your help! If this passes we need you to proudly march into the women's bathroom and just say "Hi!, the governor sent me!"

Also what the Republicans really mean when they say no trans women in the women's bathroom os that only those we can "read" as trans can, those that can "pass" can use the bathrooms. Because I doubt very much that they are going to be checking everyone's DNA.

Children’s Hospital Colorado, Denver Health resume gender-affirming care for youth

The reversal comes following the Trump administration's January order

Just weeks after multiple Colorado hospitals halted gender-affirming care for minors following threats of losing federal funding by the Trump administration, two have walked back the change.

Children’s Hospital Colorado and Denver Health announced Wednesday that they will return to providing specific services for transgender youth regarding puberty blockers and hormone therapy in the wake of President Donald Trump's Jan. 28 order that threatened to pull federal funding from hospitals that provided the medical care to patients 18 and under.

The order said medical professionals are “maiming and sterilizing” impressionable young children by performing irreversible surgical and chemical interventions by providing them with “puberty blockers” — drugs that suppress sex hormones during puberty — or performing sex change operations.

Note: Gender confirming surgery are not preformed on minors!

Multiple health systems in the state quickly backed off the care following the order, but Children’s Hospital Colorado and Denver Health will return following Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser joining a lawsuit filed in Washington state Wednesday that is attempting to block the order.

The federal judge in the case issued a temporary restraining order against the Trump administration and said that the order “blatantly discriminated against trans youth,” according to a press release from the Colorado Attorney General's Office.

This isn't over... it will be going to the Supreme Court!

Ohio bathroom law targeting transgender students has brought internal strife to some campuses

For some famously progressive colleges in Ohio, a new state law designed to keep transgender women from using women’s restrooms at schools is bringing a moment of soul-searching for students, alumni and administrators.

It’s one of many such laws adopted around the country, with the stated intent of protecting female students. The Ohio law — which applies fully to private colleges, unlike the others — allows individual institutions to decide how they will obey and enforce the measure.

But navigating the law has become a challenge, especially at colleges like Antioch and Oberlin, campuses built on a bedrock of idealism and protest where many see the law as part of a wider attack on transgender students.

They are afraid of losing federal funding...

For some, the idea of complying at all runs counter to the long-held value of being gender-inclusive. At the same time, colleges across the country are sorting the impact of the Trump administration’s crackdown on diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, including a threat to cut federal funding for schools that reject its interpretation of civil rights laws.

Oberlin has published policies saying the school will comply with the law taking effecting Tuesday and is offering counseling and a chance for students to ask to move out of their dorms. Antioch has not announced a detailed plan.

FEAR! That is what Trump & Company want to create uncertainty and fear in hospitals, school, and colleges!
