 Two men charged in connection with an alleged attack on a transgender woman at UW-Madison’s Memorial Union appeared in court Tuesday, where Dane County Court Commissioner Brian Asmus set cash bonds of $75,000 and $100,000.

Yorfred Marcano Gutierrez and Arturo Santos Albujas each face charges of attempted second-degree sexual assault as a party to a crime, strangulation and suffocation as a party to a crime, false imprisonment as a party to a crime and misdemeanor battery.

According to the criminal complaint, the alleged attack happened early Saturday morning at Goodspeed Pier.

The complaint states the two men had been making advances toward other women on State Street before approaching the victim. She told police the men asked her to walk with them to a boat they said they had at the pier. Once there, she became concerned when she did not see a boat and tried to leave.

But she wasn’t the only one attacked.

Two men were killed outside Tucson's Venture-N early Monday morning, while the shooter died at a nearby hospital. Police are investigating the murder-suicide as a hate crime.

Authorities say Ousman Ceesay, 44, fatally shot two men at the business at 1239 North 6th Ave. shortly after midnight.

Ceesay confronted the men in the longtime gay bar's parking lot before shooting them, and then himself, authorities said.

The two victims, 42-year-old Vincent Anthony Siqueiros and 33-year-old Cameron Davis Capara, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Ceesay was found suffering from gunshot wounds and taken to a local hospital, where he died soon after.

Tucson police said they found a note on Ceesay with several LGBTQ-associated businesses written on it.

"Bias-based crimes are especially heinous and have no place in our community. Our investigators are thoroughly examining the evidence and pursuing all available leads as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding this tragic incident," said Tucson Police Chief Monica Prieto in a news release.

We have to end this cycle of hate! We have to end this institutionalizing of hate. Hate flow from the top down. The swamp creatures need permission to crawl out of the swamp. When those at the top look the other way with a wink and a nod.

In the early 2000s you were three times more likely to be assaulted in Scotland than in the US. But when the Scottish authorities started looking at violent crime as a public health problem, levels plummeted and the country now ranks among some of the safest in the world.

It was no ordinary day in court. There was no jury, no witnesses or defendants at Glasgow Sheriff Court on 24 October 2008. Instead, in front of the judge, who was dressed in full regalia, were 85 rival gang members from the east end of Glasgow, Scotland's biggest city.

For decades, the area had been plagued by territorial youth gangs, organised crime and fights over drugs and weapons, with knife crime an almost daily occurrence.

Despite their ongoing feuds, the assembled gang members fell silent as they were addressed in turn by a range of speakers. A mother described seeing her son's unrecognisable face after a gang-related machete attack at age 13. An American basketball player recalled losing his brother to gun violence. Doctors and surgeons described brutal lacerations and permanent disfigurements.

The message was clear: the violence has to stop.

But it is not the message that the Republicans push!

Giving birth to her fourth child in January of 2021 was life-changing, says Nicole Hamann, but not in the way she ever imagined. While still at the hospital, Hamann was informed that both she and her newborn tested positive for a trace amount of THC, the psychoactive chemical in marijuana. [A urine test is given to mothers, which is followed up by testing the umbilical cord.] "I felt like, all of the sudden, I was a criminal," Hamann said.

"Through all of my pregnancies, I took very good care of myself and my body. Now all of the sudden, I have these people making me feel guilt and shame and fear."

Hamann lives in Idaho, where marijuana is illegal. But a month before giving birth, Hamann, who has no criminal record, says she accidentally ate a pot-laced brownie at a relative's home in Oregon, where marijuana is legal. She says no one was interested in hearing her explanation of why she had THC in her system.

But that was enough to sic the hounds on her!

Child and Family Services began an investigation immediately, because in Idaho (and a number of other states), a single positive test result of THC in a newborn is considered presumptive evidence of child abuse.

"They knocked on my door, and there was an officer standing with them, a police officer," Hamann said.

Here in Connecticut it would have been handled a lot different! It wouldn't have escalated to criminal charges right off the bat!

Take a look at Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire verses Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Texas.

Maine recorded just 100.1 violent crimes per 100,000 residents. New Hampshire recorded 110.1, and Connecticut 136.0. Massachusetts was higher at 314.7, but still below the national rate of 359.1. Now look at the four states we're putting in the “lock ’em up” category; Louisiana recorded 519.8 violent crimes per 100,000 residents. Arkansas recorded 579.4, Tennessee 592.3, and Texas 389.4. Put another way, the violent-crime rate in Tennessee was almost six times the rate in Maine. Arkansas was nearly six times Maine's rate. Louisiana's rate was more than five times Maine's.

Now just look at Texas, they had a violent-crime rate almost four times that of Maine and more than three times that of Connecticut.

But perhaps the most important numbers aren't the violent-crime rates. They're the incarceration rates.

The Prison Policy Initiative's 2024 state data show an incarceration rate of 272 per 100,000 residents in Maine, 278 in New Hampshire, 326 in Connecticut, and 241 in Massachusetts.

Compare that with 1,067 in Louisiana, 912 in Arkansas, 817 in Tennessee, and 751 in Texas.

There it is.

The states in our “lock ’em up” group are incarcerating people at dramatically higher rates than the four New England states.

And yet they are not safer. In fact, three of the four, Louisiana, Arkansas and Tennessee, have violent-crime rates substantially higher than the national average. Texas is also above the national average. Meanwhile, Maine, New Hampshire and Connecticut have among the lowest violent-crime rates in the country. Massachusetts is below the national average as well.

But when the Republican cry "We are tough on crime, unlike those pansy liberals!" Their MAGA crowd all cheer on.

Hypocrisy?… When “Stand Your Ground” Doesn't Seem to Apply to Everyone!

What sets the case of Mr. Martin apart from the other two cases? Race.

When a White man shot a Black man, the NRA publicly defended the Stand Your Ground principle. But when a transgender person is attacked, knocked to the ground, and the incident is captured on video, the NRA hasn't said a thing.

Crickets!

The prosecutor in this case needs to be called into question as well. They have seen the video, yet they are proceeding with the case.

A trans woman in Wyoming is facing two felony charges — aggravated assault and possession of a deadly weapon with unlawful intent — after pulling out a gun on someone who had pushed her to the ground, per Slate.

Rihanna Kelver was standing outside the Crowbar & Grill in Laramie, Wyoming, when a man — whom local state news publication Cowboy State Daily identified as Scott Durham — began to shout homophobic and transphobic slurs at her. Durham later shoved Kelver to the ground with such force that she injured her tailbone, per court testimony and surveillance footage reviewed by Slate. In response, Kelver drew a pistol from her bag, put in a round and pointed the weapon at Durham, which caused him to flee. Kelver, per Slate, kept the safety on and never fired.

Despite Wyoming’s “Stand Your Ground” statute, which allows people to use reasonable force in moments of self defense, Kelver faces up to 15 years in prison for both charges, as well as up to $11,000 in fines, per Cowboy State Daily. Kelver faces an additional year and $1,000 fine for a charge of interference with a peace officer.

Per the statute, “A person who uses reasonable defensive force … shall not be criminally prosecuted for that use of reasonable defensive force.”

Why is she being prosecuted?

In other cases involving Wyoming's Stand Your Ground law, authorities have declined to prosecute. Wyoming's law establishes that a person lawfully present who is attacked has no duty to retreat before using reasonable defensive force.

And let's be clear: Ríhanna was already on the ground. She was surrounded by people after being knocked down, where exactly was she supposed to retreat to?

The judge's ruling also needs to be examined.

On Tuesday, Albany County Circuit Court Judge Robert Sanford ruled the felonies can be tried in district court. He rejected a request from the defendant’s lawyer to dismiss the charges outright.

The charges can bring up to 15 years in jail plus fines!

CT man charged in connection with ‘anti-Muslim hate calls’

A 45-year-old Manchester man has been arrested in connection with harassment of a local Islamic center after multiple abusive phone calls were received.

According to Vernon Police, Jason Biggar, 45, is accused of making multiple unsolicited phone calls “containing derogatory and offensive remarks targeting the victim and the victim’s religious beliefs.”

In an arrest warrant for Biggar, the reporting police officer recounts voice recordings allegedly of Biggar, in which the caller uses profane language to slander the victim, Muslims, Arab countries and the prophet Muhammad, and seems to imply that U.S. law allows him to do so.

“So you’re going to record it and then what happens in America? … So what are you going to do, you mother (expletive)? You’re in America. America mother (expletive). This is not a (expletive) Islamic country. … you don’t want to live by the American values. My people have been here for 300 (expletive) years. Your people have been invading here for 30, 40, 50 years … If we ever met in person I would spit right in your face,” the transcription of the recorded call reads in part.

Why? Oh why do people do these things? Where does the hate come from?

A police officer went to Biggar’s house, where Biggar refused to cooperate, the warrant said. He reportedly “refused to open his door or speak with me outside. Biggar was immediately agitated by my presence telling me to get off of his property … he denied making any calls. He then continued to yell over me as I was trying to speak,” the warrant said.

He knew that he fucked-up.

 

He knew that he messed up.

These incidents are mainly from the “right.” The political rhetoric and language coming from them is what is stirring the pot.

When you look at the targets of their hate, it is against minorities: racism, antisemitism, anti-Muslim sentiment, anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment—all the “-isms.” The question is: why, in the last dozen or so years, has there been a dramatic increase in bias crimes?

When you look at violence from the “left,” it seems to be more of a reaction to the hate directed at them and other minorities.

Violence is never the answer!

What seems to have broken down, though, is the social pressure against bigots. It almost seems that the actions of this administration are actually encouraging it with their language. Some of the adjectives Trump has used to describe Muslims are: “radical Islamic terrorism,” “radical Islam,” “Muslim ban” (travel restrictions), “terrorist,” and “dangerous.” They are all designed to stir up hate.

He uses similar rhetoric against us, calling us: “radical,” “crazy,” “insane,” “dangerous,” “confused,” and “extreme.”

You see the same language being parroted back by his loyal followers.

The Courant article ends with...

“Public condemnation of these acts is essential to ensuring that hatred is never normalized and that every resident can worship freely and safely,” he said.

 Remember... when you hear mean, intervene!

Silas Shelton, a church pastor from Clinton County, Ohio, was sentenced to prison Monday for sex crimes against a child that occurred in 2019. He was arrested in October of last year and charged with multiple felonies.

Supporters of both the victim and Shelton filled the courtroom, anxiously anticipating the judge’s ruling, as reported by local tri-state CBS affiliate WKRC. However, statements by Shelton’s supporters and his attorney claiming he was a good family man and a pillar of the community didn’t carry much weight with Judge Andrew McCoy, who ultimately imposed the maximum sentence.

Prosecuting attorney Brian Shidaker explained to the court that Shelton, 48, took advantage of the victim due to her impressionable age, his close relationship with her family, and his leading role in the church. He’d even arranged a job for the victim, apparently in an attempt to be alone with her.

You know he is not the first nor the last to try to hide behind fake moral outrage against us.

A Pride music event in Hertfordshire has been cancelled due to safety concerns after banners have been torn down twice.

The first Loud & Proud event was due to take place at Shirley's Roadhouse in London Colney on 20 June, featuring live music from Christina Aguilera, Elton John and Britney Spears tribute acts, but organisers said banners advertising it had been removed from outside the venue.

Local Liberal Democrat councillor Liz Needham said: "I thought we were living in 2026 and had moved on from this kind of discrimination and was really hoping we could have a nice family-run event that would celebrate the LGBTQ+ community."

They are just like gnats... one little bite here, one bite there and they hope that it will drive us back into the closet.

“Hello? Are you a male or female in there?” a rumbling voice called into the women’s restroom. A man’s boots stepped across the threshold, clunking on the tile floor, as I sat alone in the stall closest to the door.

I stopped breathing and my heart skipped. My pants were down around my ankles, and no one else was within earshot.

We’ve seen this before, whenever legislatures go bananas passing anti-trans laws and stoking fear that people are in bathrooms doing something other than what everyone does there… use the bathroom.

“Is this the women’s room?” she asked.

“Yes,” I answered curtly, forced a smile, and walked away quickly, past the word “Women” in 6-inch green painted letters on the wooden wall of the building.

Some conservatives seem to believe all women have long hair and wear dresses, an image rooted in rigid, often religiously influenced ideas about gender.

A Minnesota teenager filed a discrimination charge against a Buffalo Wild Wings franchise this week, alleging that a worker followed her into a bathroom and coerced her to “prove” her gender by showing her chest.

Gerika Mudra, an 18-year biracial, cisgender lesbian, says that she “will never go back” to the Owatonna Buffalo Wild Wings after eating there with a friend in April this year. In her complaint with the Minnesota Department of Human Rights (MDHR), Mudra alleges that when she used the women’s bathroom during her meal, a server followed her into the bathroom, misgendered her, and ordered her to leave.

“This is a women’s restroom. The man needs to get out of here,” the unnamed worker allegedly said, according to the nonprofit legal aid organization Gender Justice, which is representing Mudra. The worker allegedly continued to insist that Mudra “[had] to get out now” until she exited her stall and unzipped her sweatshirt to show that she had breasts “just to make it stop,” Gender Justice wrote in a statement this week.

The Gender Police is on the prowl!

For nearly a decade, Republican politicians in the U.S. have pushed for “bathroom bills” which ban transgender people from public facilities that match their gender. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson enacted one such ban at the U.S. Capitol in January. Although these policies specifically target trans people, they contribute to profiling and harassment of cis women as well, particularly Black and brown women, whose genders are regularly policed. In May, two cis lesbians alleged that security staff at Boston’s Liberty Hotel “forcibly removed” them from a bathroom, compelled them to “prove” their sex by showing ID cards, and told them to leave the premises.

And we’re likely to see more of these incidents: more ordinary, law-abiding people confronted, questioned, and harassed by self-appointed enforcers of gender norms.

According to a recent study by the Williams Institute, transgender people are more likely to face harassment when using restrooms that align with their sex assigned at birth, as opposed to their gender identity.

The study examines experiences in the past 12 months from both trans male and female participants who were asked if they ever experienced verbal harassment or were denied access to restroom facilities of their corresponding gender and sex assigned at birth.

In the study, it was found that around 10% of transgender men were denied access to and or verbally harassed in women’s restrooms.

So yes; these policies don’t just harm trans people. They create an environment where anyone who doesn’t “look feminine enough” becomes a target.

And here’s the hard truth: the people pushing these laws know the harm they cause—not just to the trans community, but to cis women as well. But they keep doing it anyway, because it mobilizes voters.

And I’m glad the woman in the Buffalo Wild Wings case is suing. She should.

During Islam’s holy month of Ramadan, when Muslims around the world fast from dawn to sunset and gather with family and neighbors each evening to break that fast, the American right is manufacturing outrage about Muslims in public life. Worse yet, they are turning it into a vehicle for increasingly explicit calls to push Muslims out of American society altogether. 

What should have been a straightforward story about an anti-Muslim rally escalating into violence instead became a right-wing media opportunity to cast New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, and by extension all Muslims, as the villain. Saturday’s protest outside Gracie Mansion, the city’s mayoral residence, was explicitly billed as a demonstration against the supposed “Islamic takeover of New York City.” Organized by Jake Lang, a pardoned Jan. 6 insurrectionist who promised to burn a Quran, the event attracted counter-protesters. Amid the chaos, two men allegedly hurled improvised explosive devices (IEDs) filled with bolts and screws into the crowd of anti-Muslim protesters.

So, are we to believe that the people who showed up to a mayor's residence to throw bombs loaded with nails and screws are now the "heroes" of the MAGA movement?

Within hours, right-wing media and Republican politicians had reframed the entire episode into a grievance against Mamdani himself. The logic was almost comically circular: an anti-Muslim rally was held outside the home of a Muslim mayor and violence erupted, therefore the mayor’s response was suspect. When Mamdani criticized the Islamophobia driving the rally, that criticism itself became the outrage. Even the New York Times curiously questioned why Mamdani “did not turn to his typical means of communication,” like “short-form videos posted to social media about the attack.”

And yet, they are the ones claiming that liberals are the terrorists?

Trump & Company & The Trans Community

The rhetoric coming out the White House and the Republicans has caused a drastic increase in violence against the LGBTQ+ community.

The Trump administration has been trying to label our community are anarchists but, the reality is that we are the victims of that animosity.

Sacramento LGBT Center addresses safety concerns at packed town hall

It was standing room only Tuesday night as the Sacramento LGBT Community Center hosted a town hall focused on community safety.

The meeting comes just six weeks after a Halloween attack Sacramento police say was hate-motivated, leaving the victim critically injured and a suspect in custody on felony assault charges.

The LGBT Community Center says it has also been targeted recently, with someone smashing a window and a group of people trying to tear down its Pride flag.

People packed the center, asking questions about how resources are being used to keep the community safe.

"The city needs to stop this as soon as possible. Until it does, there needs to be more on-site security," said Will Green, a Sacramento resident.

Central Alabama Pride President Josh Coleman visited the burned-out Quest nightclub on Friday after a Thursday night fire and reflected on its role in the life of Birmingham’s LGBTQ community.

“Today I stopped by what’s left of the Quest,” wrote Coleman in a Facebook post.

The Quest opened in 1982 and closed in 2024.

“I had been asked to talk with NBC News and ABC News about the fire and about what the Quest meant to Birmingham. After the interviews, I couldn’t resist walking a little closer and looking at the destruction for myself. Standing there, I realized just how many memories are tied to that place.”

And that is what Bias Crimes do, it is not just an attack on one person or business, but rather an attack on a whole community!

Man charged after attacking transgender woman at Portland MAX stop, court records say

A 51-year-old man remains in custody after prosecutors charged him with a bias crime and several other offenses following an attack on a transgender woman at a Portland MAX station.

The incident occurred the night of Feb. 8 at the PSU Urban Center MAX stop, a routine transit hub for students at Southwest 6th Avenue and Southwest Montgomery Street.

Portland State University confirmed the victim is not affiliated with the university. Court documents say the victim, who identifies as a transgender woman, was waiting for a train when 51-year-old William Thomas Ashley allegedly approached her aggressively.

The victim told officers Ashley repeatedly called her “a man,” then ripped an umbrella from her hands and hit her with it several times. She said he grabbed her by the hair, dragged her to the ground and punched her.

New York City police are searching for the person who attacked a man on a subway train the evening of January 10 when the man was kissing his transgender female partner. The attacker shouted homophobic slurs and then slashed the right side of the man’s face with a sharp object, Gay City News reports.

The suspect escaped, and the 28-year-old victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment. The trans woman was not injured.

The attack is similar to one that occurred December 20, when a man on a subway train was slashed behind his left ear by another passenger after a verbal argument, Metro Weekly reports.

A convicted felon, Andre Karlow, is on trial facing hate crime and assault charges for allegedly attacking a transgender woman in the U District last year.

Court records reveal this is not the first time Karlow has been accused of attacking a member of the transgender community.

According to court records, Karlow has a criminal history dating back more than 20 years, including more than 30 arrests.

He was convicted last fall for an unprovoked attack in 2024 on another transgender woman working as a Sound Transit fare ambassador. Karlow is scheduled for sentencing in March in that case.

There have been 26 mass shootings in one month in the U.S. from January 1 through January 31, 2026.

Canadian authorities have identified the shooter who killed eight people — mostly children — at a school in British Columbia on Tuesday.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have named Jesse Van Rootselaar, an 18-year-ohatld resident of Tumbler Ridge, as a suspect, believing she died by suicide after fatally shooting her 39-year-old mother, 11-year-old stepbrother, a 39-year-old teacher, three 12-year-old girls, and two boys ages 12 and 13.

Police had responded to multiple wellness checks that involved weapons at Rootselaar's home over the past several years, Deputy Commissioner Dwayne McDonald said at a press conference Wednesday, including one incident two years ago where they confiscated firearms from her. She was detained on more than one occasion for assessment and follow-up under the nation's Mental Health Act, and did not have any firearms registered to her at the time of the shooting.

Rootselaar was assigned male at birth but had began transitioning six years ago, according to McDonald. RCMP is not identifying her as transgender, as officials identify suspects as "they chose to be identified in public and in social media," and Rootselaar identified as female "both socially and publicly."

On 30 January, the 29-year-old proposed to his partner, Moritz, at Cologne’s RheinEnergieStadion in front of almost 50,000 spectators ahead of a match between FC Köln and VfL Wolfsburg. 

On 7 February, just 20 minutes after informing police of threats he had received, Kaiser was attacked by three men in his garden, leaving him with an injury to his right eye.

However, on 9 February, he was attacked at his home again. According to French sports outlet L’Equipe, two people attacked him in front of his home, beating him in the face and torso. 

Kaiser was supposed to be under police protection, but officers only arrived 30 minutes after the attack was reported.

Hmm... It makes you wonder: where was the protection he was promised?

When U.S. skiers took the stage for a press conference Friday, at the start of the Milan Cortino Games, they were asked about turmoil back home where ICE agents have detained a growing number of immigrants and clashed violently with protesters in Minneapolis.

Most of the athletes who spoke that day voiced concern, calling for de-escalation, tolerance and respect. "The Olympics represent peace, so let's not only bring world peace but domestic peace within our country," said Alex Ferreira, a 31-year-old who won silver and bronze medals at past Winter Games.

Svea Irving from Winter Park, Colorado chimed in. "It's definitely a tough time in our country right now," the 23-year-old said. "I just continue to represent my values [which are] compassion and love and respect for others."

Boy did that set off a fire-storm! Imagine compassion, love, and respect for other causing a an uproar!

Trump responded with vitriol...

Trump fired back on his Truth Social platform. "U.S. Olympic Skier, Hunter Hess, a real Loser, says he doesn't represent his Country in the current Winter Olympics," Trump wrote on Sunday. "If that's the case, he shouldn't have tried out for the Team, and it's too bad he's on it. Very hard to root for someone like this."

And you wonder why violence is increasing?

"I've never had so many people wish me harm before, just for being me and speaking out about being decent and, like, human rights," she said.

In a statement, the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) condemned threats against athletes and said they report any "credible" threats to law enforcement.

"It's a sad reality that over the last several games, we've seen an uptick in abusive and harmful messages directed at the athletes during competition," the USOPC statement said.

Here in Connecticut the Governor Hate Crime Advisory Council came out with their annual report last week and it found;

Statistics gathered by the F.B.I. indicate that nationally, there were 6,121 police-reported hate incidents in 2016; 8,263 in 2020; 11,862 in 2023; and, 11,679 in 2024. These figures must be viewed in the context of longstanding underreporting, as 81% of reporting police agencies nationally reported zero hate crimes in 2024. Therefore, the slight decrease in reports from 2023 does not necessarily reflect a real decline, but rather ongoing challenges in data reporting. Consistent with 2023 trends, approximately 3,200 reports in 2024 were anti-Black, four times higher than the next largest racial or ethnic category. Religion-based reports have continued to rise since 2020, reaching their highest level in 2024 with 2,744 reported cases, including 2,002 driven by antisemitic bias.

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) reports that the number of hate incidents reported in Connecticut jumped from 91 in 2020 to 682 in 2024 — an increase of 650 percent. Antisemitic incidents in Connecticut, according to the ADL, spiked from 24 in 2020 to 184, dropping slightly to 159 in 2024. Connecticut statistics compiled by the state police also showed an upward trend. In 2021, there were 75 hate incidents; in 2024 there were 103. The number of hate crimes charges in Connecticut went from 87 in 2021 to 130 in 2024.

Connecticut is not immune to bias crimes. We are seeing an increase here.

The rhetoric coming out of Washington we see a corresponding increase in bias crimes.

Fullerton police stop man pointing gun at female driver, only to learn he is ICE agent

A Fullerton police officer intervened when he saw a man in plain clothes pointing a gun at a female driver on a busy street in Santa Ana. The man later identified himself as an immigration agent and accused the driver of “following him” during an “operation,” a refrain increasingly heard as agents push back on people recording their movements.

The brief, but tense encounter Sunday, caught partially on video, raises concerns as it joins a growing list of cases of masked and plainclothes agents being mistaken for criminals and vice versa.

The officer had just dropped off an inmate at the Orange County Jail and was returning to Fullerton when he noticed a man exit a vehicle at an intersection and draw his weapon on the driver behind him, according to a statement from the Fullerton Police Department.

After the agent identified himself, the officer told him “he could not assist with someone following or recording him if no crime had occurred, and that local law enforcement was en route.”

ICE agent arrested for pulling gun on California teen, lawyer says

 A 45-year-old California man who reportedly works as a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent is accused of illegally detaining a minor at gunpoint while off duty last week.  

The Nov. 10 incident, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, played out at around 10:30 pm outside a home in Temecula, California.  

Lawyer Greg Kirakosian, who represents the boy and his family, told Nexstar’s KTLA that the 17-year-old was driving home after dropping a friend off down the street when he saw the suspect, identified by investigators as Gerardo Rodriguez, pointing a gun at his vehicle and demanding he pull over.

The Star Tribune writes,

 Federal agents have either shot a person or fired a weapon 14 times since July, according to a database compiled by the news outlet The Trace.

The Trace found at least three people were killed and four injured in 12 of those shootings. Two other shootings involved off-duty officers. The data includes the Minneapolis fatality.

Nearly every case had a common factor with the Minneapolis shooting: officers shot or fired at, people in a vehicle.

Federal officials did not immediately comment on the Trace data but say there is a major uptick in people using vehicles as a weapon against law enforcement. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, said Wednesday that “we’ve seen over 100 of these vehicle rammings happen in just recent weeks.”

ICE agents are a bunch of gun happy thugs and don't have to worry about going before a Shooting Review Board. But remember one thing... Minnesota has no Statue of Limitation for murder!

I just saw on the local news that synagogues in the state are getting police protection at their Hanukkah services because of the current political environment of violence.

When the Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR) was held in Hartford, there was an officer sitting in front of the venue because of past incidents.

Politicians are stirring up animosity—just look at how Trump responded to the murder of the National Guard service member. He seemed to blame all Afghan nationals for the killing by one person.

Just the other day with the murder of Rob Reiner, Trump posted:

"A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS. He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before."

"May Rob and Michele rest in peace!"

But when Charlie Kirk was murdered, Trump flew the flags at half-mast.

I got to hear the story of a convicted individual who shot at a mosque next door to his house. Instead of jail time, he agreed to restorative justice. The Imam of the mosque agreed to restorative justice and sat down with the gunman; now they go around talking about overcoming hate. He now goes around with the Mosque Imam talking about violence and how ignorance causes it.

We need to counter the demonizing of us through education. We need to tell our stories, we need to sit down together and talk out our differences, like what happened after the shooting of the mosque in Meriden, CT.

This is why they want to silence us. This is why they want to ban our books—because understanding grows acceptance.

You’ve heard the claim that Democrats are “made up of special interest groups” such as labor unions, environmentalists, civil rights groups, LGBTQ+ advocates, teachers, and others—and that these groups fragment the party. I think there is some truth to that, but they are all united under a banner of caring for others and for the environment. The thing is, Trump is uniting them all against him. He has gone after each and every one of these groups, thereby bringing them together.

On the other hand, Republicans are united behind bigotry. They rally under the banner of “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” Ask yourself this question: what are they for? They are not for smaller government—my God, look at what they have expanded: ICE and DHS. Look at who they are targeting—and I mean targeting: ANTIFA, groups that defend us, higher education, and the list is almost endless.

They prey on people’s fears. Look at the elections and Trump claiming that Haitians were eating pets. That was racist. His statements are so numerous that it’s impossible to keep up with them.

Look at the attacks on Jewish religious services—by definition, those are hate crimes. They instill fear throughout an entire community. The same is true of attacks on LGBTQ+ nightclubs; people think twice about going. That is exactly what hate crimes are meant to do.

I went to a support group’s holiday party last night, and I’d bet that in the back of some of our minds we were thinking, “Are we safe here as a group?”

That is what this party is pushing.

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that the U.S. has seized an oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela amid mounting tensions with the government of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

It’s the Trump administration’s latest push to increase pressure on Maduro, who has been charged with narcoterrorism in the U.S.

The seizure was led by the U.S. Coast Guard and supported by the Navy, according to a U.S. official who was not authorized to comment publicly and spoke on the condition of anonymity.

You know there is a name for this... piracy! So the U.S. has now stooped to the level of Iran or the Barbary pirates!

The administration is now saying that they had a warrant for the tanker. Reuter's reported...

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi posted on X that the FBI, Homeland Security and Coast Guard, along with support from the U.S. military, carried out a seizure warrant for a crude oil tanker used to transport sanctioned oil from Venezuela and Iran.

Politico reports,

The White House did not provide additional details about the vessel. But a person familiar with the matter, granted anonymity to discuss the sensitive seizure, said the ship was en route to Cuba, where the state firm Cubametales was planning to sell it to Asian energy brokers.

DOJ orders prison inspectors to stop considering LGBTQ safety standards

The Department of Justice has instructed inspectors to stop evaluating prisons and jails using standards designed to protect transgender, intersex and gender-nonconforming people from sexual violence, according to an internal memo obtained by NPR.

This population is uniquely vulnerable to attacks while incarcerated, data shows, and advocates say the change will put such people in even more danger.

The memo explains that DOJ is in the process of revising federal standards related to the 2003 Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) in order to align with President Trump's executive order on "gender ideology extremism." The Jan. 20 executive order asserts that the United States recognizes only two sexes: male and female.

These people hate us so much that they are willing to let us get raped in jail!

The standards designed to protect inmates from sexual violence were developed after years of bipartisan work. They were created in response to overwhelming data, anecdotal evidence and a landmark Human Rights Watch report that showed sexual violence was, and continues to be, a serious problem behind bars.

It almost sounds like that they are gleeful of the dangers for the LGBTQ+ community this will create, Newsmax reports that,

Linda McFarlane, executive director of Just Detention International, a group that for years has pushed for stronger federal oversight of prison sexual abuse prevention, claimed the change "will immediately put people in danger."

"It's going to make people less safe," she told NPR. "And when facilities are less safe for the most vulnerable and marginalized, they're less safe for everybody."

Trump & Company know this and they don't care!

The most recent data from the Bureau of Justice Statistics shows that in 2020, correctional administrators reported 36,264 allegations of sexual victimization in prisons, jails and other adult correctional facilities. The allegations included incidents of sexual violence, harassment and misconduct carried out by inmates against other inmates and by staff members against inmates. The report said 2,351 of those allegations — a rate of 1.2 incidents per 1,000 inmates — were substantiated after investigation.

And that was when the policy was in place, can you imagine what it will be like without monitoring?

But because PREA has been in place for more than 20 years and the prevalence of sexual abuse within the prison system is well-known, James said, "I believe and trust" that facilities "will do what is best for the incarcerated population."

The controversial British-American influencer Andrew Tate has left Romania, where he was charged with rape, human trafficking and forming an organised crime group to sexually exploit women.

He and his brother are believed to be on a private jet heading to the US, sources told the BBC.

Tate was put under house arrest in Romania in August 2024 when prosecutors launched a second criminal investigation against himself and his brother Tristan, as well as four other suspects. They all deny wrongdoing.

Separately, the brothers are wanted in the UK to face allegations of sexual assault which they also deny.

The brothers have also been accused of tax evasion in the UK. A British court ruled in December 2024 that police could seize more than £2m ($2.4m) from them for failing to pay tax on £21m in revenue from their online businesses.

Andrew Tate said the ruling was "not justice" and called it a "co-ordinated attack".

Online influencer Andrew Tate, a self-described misogynist who has millions of young male followers, was facing allegations of sex trafficking women in three countries when he and his brother left their home in Romania to visit the United States.

“The Tates will be free, Trump is the president. The good old days are back,” Tate posted on X before the trip in February — one of many times he has sung the president’s praises to his fans.

But when the Tate brothers arrived by private plane in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, they immediately found themselves in the crosshairs of law enforcement once more, as Customs and Border Protection officials seized their electronic devices.

This time, they had a powerful ally come to their aid. Behind the scenes, the White House intervened on their behalf.

Why did Trump step in? Is it because Tate knows things about Trump?

The incident is the latest in a string of law enforcement matters where the Trump White House has inserted itself to help friends and target foes. Since entering office for a second term, Trump has urged the Justice Department to go after elected officials who investigated him and his businesses, and he pardoned a string of political allies. Andrew Tate is one of the most prominent members of the so-called manosphere, a collection of influencers, podcasters and content creators who helped deliver young male voters to Trump. And news of the White House intervention on behalf of the accused sex traffickers comes as Trump is under fire over his ties to notorious child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his administration’s recent efforts to stop the public release of the so-called Epstein files.

U.S. officials initially broached the subject during a phone call with the Romanian government, advocating for the return of the Tates' passports and permission for them to travel while awaiting court proceedings, the FT reported.

This diplomatic effort was further amplified when Richard Grenell, President Donald Trump's U.S. envoy for special missions, met with Romanian Foreign Minister Emil Hurezeanu at the Munich Security Conference last week.

It seems like they are all running in the same circles... those who are sexual predators. USA Today said...

Ingrassia, who at the time was working as a White House liaison to the Department of Homeland Security, is alleged to have "chided" investigators for seizing the Tates’ property when they entered the United States last year. That request, Ingrassia claimed, came directly from the White House, according to the report.

You have to wonder why is Trump coming to his defense?  And this is all happening while Trump's Secretary of Defense is under investigation for war crimes!

Just Listen To The Words He Uses!

Last night on 60 Minutes they had interview with Trump. The part that caught my attention was in the interview Norah O'Donnell where she asked,

NORAH O'DONNELL: --and you succeeded on that. Illegal crossings at the Southern border are at a 55-year low. Want to ask you about this. More recently, Americans have been watching videos of ICE tackling a young mother, tear gas being used in a Chicago residential neighborhood, and the smashing of car windows. Have some of these raids gone too far?

But Trump reply was what I caught my attention...

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: No. I think they haven't gone far enough because we've been held back by the-- by the judges, by the liberal judges that were put in by Biden and by Obama. We've been held--

NORAH O'DONNELL: You're okay with those tactics?

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Yeah, because you have to get the people out. You know, you have to look at the people. Many of them are murderers. Many of them are people that were thrown outta their countries because they were, you know, criminals. Many of them are people from jails and prisons. Many of them are people from frankly mental institutions. I feel badly about that, but they're released from insane asylums. You know why? Because they're killers.

So Donald... you think a 64 year old US citizen grandmother is a terrorist? You think it is okay to throw flash-bang's into an apartment, drag people outside in their bedclothes, and tie-wrapped? President Donald Trump on Saturday announced the U.S. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria if its government continues to allow the killing of Christians, and may even go into the country "guns-a-blazing" to "completely wipe out the Islamic terrorists" responsible.

"I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action," Trump wrote in a Truth Social post. "If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians! WARNING: THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT BETTER MOVE FAST!"

The post comes after the president on Friday designated Nigeria as a "country of particular concern," citing the widespread killings of Christians.

But the real facts as opposed to Trump's facts

But Trump totally ignores the Christian on Muslim violence! PBS News reports that,

Nigeria’s population of 220 million is split almost equally between Christians and Muslims. The country has long faced insecurity from various fronts including the Boko Haram extremist group, which seeks to establish its radical interpretation of Islamic law and has also targeted Muslims it deems not Muslim enough.

Attacks in Nigeria have varying motives. There are religiously motivated ones targeting both Christians and Muslims, clashes between farmers and herders over dwindling resources, communal rivalries, secessionist groups and ethnic clashes.

While Christians are among those targeted, analysts say the majority of victims of armed groups are Muslims in Nigeria’s Muslim-majority north, where most attacks occur.

Hey wait! What! What was that? "... the majority of victims of armed groups are Muslims ..." Trump never said anything about that! That sure does seem like a touch of Islamophobia to me! And that he is playing to his evangelical Christian base.
