Guilt & Shame.

[Editorial]

They say that talking about us make other students uncomfortable with LGBTQ+ issues, and that is the stated purpose of the “Don’t Say Gay” law (HB 1557/SB 1834). However, what does it make the LGBTQ+ students feel knowing that there is something about us that we can’t talk about?

What does it say about being Black that you can’t talk about your history, that somehow it is wrong?

“Parental Rights” what is it teaching the students when you ban books on race or LGBTQ+ topics? That it is okay to discriminate? That it is okay to bully others who are different?

These laws are piling on the guilt and shame on us, but that’s okay because we are different.
