So You Want To Buy A Tesla?

I used to, but not any more…
  • Elon Musk said terms like "cisgender" and "cis" are now considered "slurs" on Twitter.
  • The billionaire has a history of sharing anti-transgender content on the platform.
  • It isn't clear if Musk's statement represents an official Twitter policy.

Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of Twitter, has amped up his anti-transgender campaign and has rejected the use of specific terms on the platform that are important to transgender people.

One Twitter user posted about receiving messages from "trans activists," saying: "Yesterday, after posting a Tweet saying that I reject the word 'cis' and don't wish to be called it, I receive a slew of messages from trans activists calling me 'cissy' and telling me that I am 'cis' 'whether or not I like it.' Just imagine if the roles were reversed."

In response, Musk tweeted: "Repeated, targeted harassment against any account will cause the harassing accounts to receive, at minimum, temporary suspensions. The words 'cis' or 'cisgender' are considered slurs on this platform."

[…]

Musk has a history of publicly attacking transgender people and even tweeted earlier this month that he will actively start "lobbying to criminalize," healthcare options for transgender children which he believes can cause "severe irreparable changes."

In April, Insider conducted a test that found Twitter was limiting the visibility of some tweets sent via direct messages when words like "trans," "transgender," or "intersex" were used.
NBC reported that…
On Thursday, Twitter was roiled by an organized pressure campaign by conservative pundits seeking to promote a 95-minute anti-transgender video called “What Is A Woman?” Musk, who has staked out views hostile to transgender advocates, initially responded in ways that seemed to satisfy no one before he eventually relented and agreed to promote the video himself. The incident resulted in two high-level departures within 24 hours.

The episode was another window into Musk’s improvisational approach to rewriting Twitter’s rules.
He has a trans daughter and sadly he doesn’t seem to be accepting of her.
The bird app owner is now openly spreading transphobic propaganda on his crumbling platform.

Concurrently with his new follows, Musk himself made several incendiary statements about trans people and those who provide gender-affirming care. First, in a reply to rapper Zuby — who himself has unleashed numerous anti-trans screeds and staged stunts spreading false information about trans athletes — Musk opined that “One should always be wary of the popular thing,” responding to the rapper’s claim that young people in the U.S. “pretend to have conditions they don’t” to fit in with their peers. The comments were apparently referencing the “social contagion” theory of trans identity, which has no basis in reality but is repeatedly pushed by conservatives like Musk and Joe Rogan.
According to the Mercury News,
Elon Musk doesn’t seem to believe he played any role in alienating his 18-year-old transgender daughter, who made the legal move this year to no longer be related to her controversial billionaire father “in any way, shape or form.”

Instead, the Tesla CEO told the Financial Times in an interview published Friday that his child’s decision to distance herself from him was caused by “neo-Marxists” at educational institutions, Page Six reported.

Musk didn’t specify what institutions had worked their influence on his daughter, but he said, “It’s full-on communism and a general sentiment that if you’re rich, you’re evil.”
Isn’t that typical of conservatives, blame someone else!

Me, I’m not buying a Tesla at one time I was but now...
