What Elections Says.

[Editorial]

Some vote a particular party out of habit, some vote that way because they always have, some vote for the lesser of two evils, and some even vote because they like the party politics.

How back in the nineteen-fifties and earlier for the Jim Crow Laws. We all know how horrible and bigoted they laws were and they were not just in the south but all across the country so places better than others. I asked ChatGPT "What are the Jim Crow laws?" It wrote in part,
The Jim Crow laws were a series of state and local laws enacted in the United States between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These laws enforced racial segregation and discrimination against African Americans and other people of color. The laws were named after a fictional black character portrayed by a white actor in blackface minstrel shows.

The Jim Crow laws varied by state, but they generally enforced racial segregation in public facilities such as schools, transportation, parks, restaurants, theaters, and hotels. They mandated separate facilities for white and black individuals, often designating them as "whites only" and "colored" or "separate but equal."

Under these laws, African Americans were subjected to racial discrimination and were denied basic civil rights and privileges that were available to white citizens. They faced restrictions on voting through the imposition of poll taxes, literacy tests, and other discriminatory measures. Additionally, interracial marriages were prohibited, and there were laws that restricted African Americans' access to certain jobs and economic opportunities.
Let me rewrite that…
The Lavender laws were a series of state and local laws enacted in the United States between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These laws enforced bans on LGBTQ people and discrimination against drag queens and trans people. The laws were named after a fictional drag queen portrayed by a white actor in drag on comedy shows.

The Lavender laws varied by state, but they generally enforced racial segregation in public facilities such as schools, transportation, parks, restaurants, theaters, and hotels. They mandated separate facilities for white and black individuals, often designating them as "Women" and "Trans people" or "separate but equal."

Under these laws, Drag Queens and trans people were subjected to discrimination and were denied basic civil rights and privileges that were available to straight citizens. They faced restrictions on voting through the imposition of poll taxes, literacy tests, and other discriminatory measures. Additionally, same-sex marriages were prohibited, and there were laws that restricted drag queens nd trans people access to certain jobs and economic opportunities.
Would that be any different from the Jim Crow laws? Would that be any less offensive? Then why do people vote for a party that is doing that to us?

An article in the HuffPost “The Anti-LGBTQ Hysteria Is Showing America’s True Identity” writes,
Attitudes about the LBGTQ community are now posing a similar kind of existential test, as the longstanding antipathy toward gay and queer people morphs before our eyes into new laws and restrictions, mainly in but not limited to the South — well over 500 bills this year introduced in statehouses across the country ― that perfectly mirror the energy of Jim Crow.

Like Blackness, gayness and “trans-ness” are now seen by the right, especially the Christian right, as a fundamental threat to the American way of life. That threat is the deepest reason why, for most of our history, the color line has been so fiercely policed, just as the gender line is being fiercely policed now. And like the segregation of the past, the policing is being carried out without apology; to the contrary, it’s viewed by the right as virtuous, inevitable. This is what we must do to save ourselves. Holding the line is nothing less than a spiritual endeavor — for the hard right, a freedom fight of the modern age.
Have you noticed that racists are also usually homophobes, transphobes, xenophobes, antisemitic, islamophobes, and misogynistic. They are against anyone who isn’t like them… white, straight, and Christian male. They live in fear of showing any affection for other males as they might be construed as being gay.

But remember over half the population voted for the party that supported the Jim Crow laws! They swear on a stack of bibles that they are not racists. That they voted for that party’s candidate because other reasons like taxes and big government versus small government but the results were the same the continuing of government sponsored discrimination.

No matter what hook the party got you with you have to look at the whole party platform, you can just put blinders on and focus on one issue.

What party is telling us what we can say?
What party is telling us what we can read?
What party is telling us who we can associate with?
What party is telling us what we can do with our own bodies?
What party is telling our doctors how to treat us?

And it is the same party that says it is for smaller government and getting the government out of our lives. But realty says otherwise.

You cannot separate these issues, you cannot say that you voted for a smaller government because it is all tied in together. Because the party that wants lower taxes, do away with SNAP and WIC, to do away with agencies like the OSHA, EPA, FDA, and other agencies also wants to do away with us!

We need to speak up... "I don't like the direction we are heading as a nations!" What we have to do is vote! And to get our like minded family and friends to vote with us.
