[Rant]
I take a lot of meds, not just for being trans but because of age. Whenever I get a prescription filled I tell the clerk that I don't want to have automatic refills.
My healthcare provider cut my prescription in half because the drug was having too much of an effect on me. So she cut it in half. I got the prescription filled. Meanwhile the old prescription was do to be refilled, as I said, I have never asked for automatic refills, they refill the old prescription.
My new prescription for half the dose was up for refill. I called it in and found it was already refilled! (But I haven't called in for the refill.)
So I went to pick it up at their drive through window. As I pulled over to stuff everything back into my purse I noticed the dosage was twice what the doctor order!
So I went inside and talked to the pharmacist. I told him that the prescription was twice the amount that the doctor ordered! He said no way! I told him to bring up all my prescriptions. Lo and behold there were tow prescriptions for it, one 10mg and on 5mg! The 5mg was written at the later date than the 10mg.
He turned white!
He saw what happened. He knew I was right... the pharmacy had just broken many. many laws and given me twice the amount that the doctor ordered all because of them automatically refills!
I said what do you think would happen if I reported this to the state?
Please do not use auto-refills! They don't check to see of that prescription has been superseded be another prescription they will never know it.

Update: 10:00AM
One hour after I wrote this I get a phone call from the pharmacy, your prescription is ready! Which I still have about two months left!
What a time I had with auto-refills. I had seven prescriptions. 4 of these were for one time only. Well, here they go and refill them anyway. I asked and asked for them to take these off my list, but they haven't. Today, when I go to CVS, I will ask them again. One thing is for certain: they refilled them without a doctor's approval, as I know the doctor would not have given approval. I don't have a colonoscopy every month for sure. (that was one) The others were for eye surgery cream, over and done with, and the others were a drug to calm me down when I was going to have a MIR.(didn't work). I am fed up with the whole medical system from the doctors on down. It is all beholden to the Capitalist system. For a country that claims to be the biggest, the best, the most advanced, there sure are a lot of sick people. I have had to wait over a month for an appointment so now I have given up and just do what I do and forget the rest. I'm still standing.
ReplyDeleteYup. It was CVS also with me. Every time I get a refill I tell them no auto refills but every time they refill it automatically. If they give me twice the amount again we will see how well they do explaining giving me twice the amount to the state Consumer Protection Agency
DeleteCan I say I was shocked. When I went to pick up my prescription they said it was $60.00, I said no that isn't right after going back and forth the person that was waiting on me told me to call the insurance company. Maybe they made a mistake. Well no said the insurance company CVS did not give you the discount that you are entitled to that they have been giving out all along. Nothing has changed on our end. So I recalled CVS at 11:30 and I am still waiting now at 3:45 for a call back. They owe me $35.00.
