Mini-Post: Birds of a feather flock together

I think that you can also say, "Felons of a feather flock together!" I think you can say convicted felons look out for their fellow ex-cons.

President Trump commutes the prison sentence of George Santos

President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he commuted the prison term of George Santos, the disgraced New York Republican who was sentenced to more than seven years in prison for a litany of crimes after he was expelled from the House over accusations that he stole money from campaign donors.

Trump made the announcement in a post on Truth Social on Friday, saying he had signed a commutation to release Santos from prison immediately.

"George Santos was somewhat of a 'rogue,' but there are many rogues throughout our Country that aren't forced to serve seven years in prison," Trump wrote.

What we have learned from this...

That the decision was less about justice, and more about political allegiance or mutual self-interest.
That powerful individuals may be protecting each other from consequences ordinary people would have to face.
And that this kind of clemency feels like a signal of loyalty rather than a correction of injustice.

Trump rewards loyalty and punishes those opposed to him.

The amazing thing about this is that Santos stole principally from republicans.
