Mini-Post: Truer Now Then Back Then

I just ran across this quote from John Kenneth Galbraith, a Canadian-American economist, diplomat, and public intellectual that was in his 1952 book The Affluent Society.
“The modern conservative is engaged in one of man’s oldest exercises in moral philosophy — that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.”
It seems to me that this is more apropos then it was in the 50s!
  • They believe that the tax cuts for the billionaires will help the peons.
  • The "One Big Beautiful Bill" cut food stamps, WIC, and other social services programs to pay for the cuts to billionaires.
  • The tariffs ae paid for by the consumers so that Trump can payoff the debt from the billionaire tax cuts.
