Yesterday was a busy day on the Cape… it was a stocking-up day! Being a holiday weekend, people were already stocking up on booze, pot… and food. But it took on added urgency with the threat of rain and gale-force winds.
People are preparing to hunker down for the long haul. My neighbors packed up on Friday and headed back home to New York State. Grilling plans? Out the window. Shopping plans? Out the window. It's going to be a day of couch potatoes, movies and sports. There will probably be localized power outages. Right now, the outage map shows that Connecticut got hit, and there's only one outage reported on the Cape.
The harbors have been emptied of all the boats that can be pulled out. For the fishing vessels, the lines have been doubled, extra fenders have been put out, and fingers are crossed.

But the power came back on!
I was thinking about go out to the car to charge everything back up. But then a miracle happened the power came back on! Just in time to save the frozen foods! But the internet powers-that-be are flaky so I don't know when this will go out.
