Friday’s all-ages drag show at Central Lakes College in Brainerd was cancelled due to a credible threat of violence.
The school posted on social media:Brainerd Lakes Pride shared the post, adding: An event that has taken place at Central Lakes College for years now has come under the eye of some hateful folks. Causing it to get canceled. The fight continues. They don’t get their way on this. Everybody gets to live as their authentic selves. At Central Lakes College, our top priority is the safety of our students, faculty, staff, and community. To that end, we regret that the April 5, 2024 Rainbow Coalition Club Drag Show is cancelled due to a credible threat made towards our LGBTQ+ community, which local law enforcement is investigating. Misinformation, bias, hate, and threats of violence toward our students’ event and its performers is deeply disturbing and will not be tolerated on our campus. Central Lakes College has an unwavering commitment to our values of educational excellence, innovation, inclusion, and community.
The Democrats giveth, the Republicans taketh away.Republicans did something last week that went almost unnoticed. Through one simple act in 1970, the United States became the world’s leader in making our community visible. Thanks to a Republican amendment in the federal budget that was signed last week, a sad end has come to that leadership.

Republicans last week added an amendment that basically states that no embassy can fly a rainbow flag. They have taken away the hope of freedom from oppressed LGBTQ+ people. Whether in Moscow, Hungary, Abu Dhabi, Gaza, or Iran… 65 countries criminalize same-sex activity, 41 of them against women, 12 countries give the death sentence. Fourteen countries criminalize gender identity, and we’re not even discussing honor killings or rape.
Vote Blue! Our lives depend upon it.
When Queers Without Borders was in operation in Hartford, we always made sure that at least one rainbow flag was at every march, picket, demonstration, filmed lecture or event. Why so anyone seeing this would know that Queers stood up and out front if it be a demonstration in support of Palestine, against the wars of aggression of Uncle Scam, labor disputes, or any other issue where we felt that somewhere, someplace a queer would see it an know that we supported them. We felt that this was part of our mission to break down borders and to show support for queers around the world.
