Your Papers Please... I'm Sorry But...

From a number of sources there are rumors about trans people not being able to travel here, rumors about the World Pride that some trans people were denied because of an "X" on gender.

They were born too late to have witnessed Stonewall, lived through darkest days of the HIV/AIDS epidemic or have memories of a time when it was illegal for same-sex couples to marry anywhere in the country.

After years of buoyant celebrations of advancements and greater acceptance for members of the LGBTQ community over the last two decades, for many, Pride is taking place this year in the shadow of mounting legal and cultural attacks: books featuring LGBTQ+ characters have been removed from school libraries and curriculums; hate crimes are on the rise; the federal government has barred transgender people from the military and girls’ sports; HIV prevention programs and gender-affirming health care have been slashed; drag shows have been banned at the Kennedy Center; and state legislatures around the country have introduced more than 500 anti-LGBTQ+ bills.

InterPride on Wednesday issued a travel advisory for transgender and nonbinary people who want to travel to the U.S. for this year’s WorldPride.

“Due to an executive order issued by the U.S. president on Jan. 20, all travelers must select either ‘male’ or ‘female’ when applying for entry or visas. The gender listed at birth will be considered valid,” reads the advisory that InterPride posted on its Facebook page. “If your passport has ‘X’ as a gender marker or differs from your birth-assigned gender, we strongly recommend contacting the U.S. diplomatic mission before traveling to confirm entry requirements.”
I want to point out that under the Trump administration travel warnings have been issued about us, like some third world country!

Actions to consider.

When it comes to a particular course of action, there is no perfect decision, only the decision that is best for you.  Next steps likely depend on a consideration of your individual circumstances, including what you might use or need a passport for, the likelihood of upcoming international travel, and your safety preferences and risk tolerance.
It is the wild west out there when it comes to documentation
