Once again the Stonewall generation have been thrown under the bus, this time by our own community.
How many Pride Parades are being held this month? I find it amazing that with all the sponsors, with all the committees, that they all overlook the seniors. the one who started the whole movement for our rights are being shoved once again aside this time by our own community.
Those who were in the frontlines of the movement back in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and the 90s are being put out to pasture.
As a a septuagenarian who has watched my health decline over the years from walking 20 miles with a backpack a weekend to not walking the distance of a supermarket I have acutely aware of the focus of Pride now. And it is on the under 20 generation not the over 60 generation.
Many, many times I have spoken to Pride organizers, about a trolley for seniors and the disabled of the community... but it fell on deaf ears. What would it take to pick up a phone and call a bus company... "Hey, how would you like to donate a trolley to our parade, we'll make you a cooperate sponsor!"
I am sure some bus company would like the advertising.
We have passed laws this year protecting LGBTQ+ seniors in long term care facilities... how about a little recognition of the Stonewall Generation?

Fluff, trinkets, and glitter is all that they are made up of. Such a shame. I will not be attending any Pride Celebrations in Ct. this year. In other words I have put myself out to pasture and wish them all well and hope when the crap hits the fan they will know what to do. One of the biggest offenders is a big time drag artist who as long as the spotlight is on her ass its all ok. She should know better as she is part of the generation of elders has a force and can and should persuade these committees to provide some sort of bus etc. But the LGBT crowd has never been big on the "least of these." I am not going to put myself in harms way for such folks anymore.
