House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said Sunday that deploying the Marine Corps to Los Angeles to suppress protests, as Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has suggested, would not be “heavy-handed.”
Um... there are already 2100 National Guard troops in LA already and he wants to send an additional 700 Marines! I don't know about you but I do feel that it is "heavy handed" for protests that the city of Los Angeles had under control! AP News wrote...
Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell said in a statement he was confident in the police department’s ability to handle large-scale demonstrations and that the Marines’ arrival without coordinating with the police department presented a “significant logistical and operational challenge” for them.
And the governor said,
“This isn’t about public safety,” Newsom said. “It’s about stroking a dangerous President’s ego.”
This is the behavior of dictators like Putin, Orbán, and Maduro, this is what leads up to fascism.
