On Saturdays I take a break from the heavy stuff and have some fun…
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) This song gives encouragement to someone who is enduring heartache. Have you more recently given support, or received it?
Given support.
2) "Hold On" is featured prominently in the 2011 movie Bridesmaids. It's an anthem for the friends in the film and they love to sing it together. Is there a song that reminds you of good times with a good friend?
3) The video for this song finds Wilson Phillips outdoors on a snowy mountainside and then on a sandy beach. What's the view outside your window?
Of the wetlands in back.
4) The mountain segments were filmed in California's San Gabriel Mountains. The girls were flown to the set by helicopter. Have you ever been in a helicopter?
Yes, when I was 8 or 10, at the fair in town they used to offer helicopter rides around town, I got to fly over our home.
5) The members of Wilson Phillips are authentic "California Girls." Wendy and Carnie Wilson's father is Brian Wilson, who wrote the Beach Boys hit. Chynna Phillips is the daughter of John and Michelle Phillips of the Mamas and the Papas, who sang "California Dreamin'." Have you been to California? If yes, where did you visit?
Yes, in the summer of ‘99.
Started out with a wedding in Everett WA and we drove down the coast to San Fancisco. I learned a valuable lesson on that trip. Drive up the coast not down the coast. Why because when you drive down the coast you are on the outside of the road… right next the cliff down to the ocean!
A logging truck came around a blind corner and on to our side of the road! After that we joked that they only put up guardrails when the find a car down the cliff into the ocean.
6) Another generation of the Wilson family has entered the music business. Carnie's daughter/Brian Wilson's granddaughter, Lola Bonfiglio, participated in the current season of American Idol. Has a family member followed you in your chosen profession?
Nope. My father was a civil engineer, my brother is an industrial engineer, and I’m an electrical engineer. None of my brother’s children and grandchildren went into engineering. They are mainly in the arts or business.
7) In 1990, when this song was popular, satellite radio was in its infancy and streaming was unheard of. Our cars gave us a choice of AM/FM and maybe CD player/tape deck. When you're driving and a favorite song comes on, are you more likely to sing along if you're alone? Or don't you care if anyone hears you?
I don’t usually sign along with the radio but it did one time at a light. When Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody and the part where it is with…
Easy come, easy go, will you let me go?Bismillah, no, we will not let you go(Let him go) Bismillah, we will not let you go(Let him go) Bismillah, we will not let you go(Let me go) Will not let you go(Let me go) Will not let you go(Never, never, never, never let me go) AhNo, no, no, no, no, no, no
When a police car pulled up next to me singing the two parts. He had a quizzical look on his face so I rolled down the window and let his listen… he started laughing and then the light turned green.

Did you know the founder of Sirius Satellite Radio, Martine Rothblatt is trans?
8) Also in 1990, actor Alan Hale Jr. died. He was "the skipper" on Gilligan's Island. Without looking it up, can you name the other six castaways? (If not the actors, then their characters.)
Oh that is so easy, the opening credit songs tells it all… “With Gilligan, the Skipper too, the millionaire and his wife, the movie star, the professor and Mary Ann now who played any of them I don’t remember but Gilligan in another life was Maynard G. Krebs… "You rang?"
9) Random question: What superhero would you like to have as your best friend?
Superman! This is from the 1950s...
Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!
