Mini-Post: Paying a little/no attention

I was reading an article in The Washington Post about people's thoughts about using troops in LA. One question...
Tuned-in Americans tend to oppose sending the National Guard and Marines to L.A.

Paying a lot of attention to L.A. protests (34%)
37%In the "undefined" group, 37 percent of people responded with "Support."
8In the "undefined" group, 8 percent of people responded with "Unsure."
54In the "undefined" group, 54 percent of people responded with "Oppose."

Paying some attention (40%)
42In the "undefined" group, 42 percent of people responded with "Support."
13In the "undefined" group, 13 percent of people responded with "Unsure."
45In the "undefined" group, 45 percent of people responded with "Oppose."

Paying a little/no attention (26%)
46In the "undefined" group, 46 percent of people responded with "Support."
26In the "undefined" group, 26 percent of people responded with "Unsure."
29In the "undefined" group, 29 percent of people responded with "Oppose."

The more people are paying attention to the protests in L.A., the more likely they are to oppose Trump sending in the National Guard and Marines to respond to the protests. This is partly due to Democrats following the protests more closely, although independents who are paying more attention are also more critical of Trump’s decision.
What got my goat was the last group... "Paying a little/no attention (26%)"

At the Democratic convention in 2016 President Obama said...
And if you're serious about our democracy, you can't afford to stay home just because she might not align with you on every issue. You've got to get in the arena with her, because democracy isn't a spectator sport.
What we are seeing in the polling numbers is that many "Don't give a f--k" if we live in a dictatorship or a Constitutional Republic? In order for it to work we most be an informed electorate.

People get off your butts and become informed! I read from dozens of news sources... not just liberal media but all media!

  1. I've read article that members of the guard and the marines do not like this assignment. They feel they are being used as pawns in a political war. The civilian police forces are adequate enough to control the situation. Also, the media needs to back off the constant depiction of violence when it is occurring in a very small area among the 500 square miles of Los Angeles. The same happened with Seattle when the locals took over several blocks and the populace thought the entire city was ablaze.
