That Was Nice Of Them

Not...

For the World Pride they were to hold events at Dupont Circle Park but at the last minute the park was blocked off in fear of violence.
The park has been the site of some of the capital’s earliest Pride celebrations, LGBTQ protests and AIDS memorial services.

The National Park Service and U.S. Park Police on Thursday evening closed Dupont Circle Park, widely known as the heart of Washington,’s LGBTQ neighborhood, ahead of the final weekend of WorldPride, an international Pride celebration being held in the nation’s capital this year.

This year’s parade route was not set to go through Dupont Circle, but the park has traditionally hosted unofficial celebrations after Pride events. It was home to some of D.C.’s earliest Pride celebrations in the 1970s as well as major protests during both the LGBTQ rights and Civil Rights Movements.

The park service said in a letter Wednesday that the park would be closed from 6 p.m. Thursday until 6 p.m. Sunday. The letter said the U.S. Park Police had determined that the closure is necessary to “secure the park, deter potential violence, reduce the risk of destructive acts and decrease the need for extensive law enforcement presences.”
But... But... But... There has been no violence in the past!
“This beloved landmark is central to the community that WorldPride intends to celebrate and honor,” Capital Pride Alliance said in a statement. “It’s much more than a park, for generations it’s been a gathering place for DC’s LGBTQ+ community, hosting first amendment assemblies and memorial services for those we lost to the AIDS epidemic and following tragic events like the Pulse nightclub shooting.”
And that is probably why it was closed... as an affront to us.

After the article was written that park service changed their mind.
Law enforcement had closed off Dupont Circle Park to "deter potential violence."

Hours before the Capital Pride Parade during WorldPride in Washington, D.C., fencing at a key gathering spot for Pride celebrations is being taken down, two sources told ABC News.

The decision comes following public outcry and a reversal by the U.S. Park Police and the National Park Service, which had made the decision to close off Dupont Circle Park ahead of Saturday’s parade, which marks the 50th anniversary of Capital Pride.

Two sources confirmed to ABC News that the park, long the site of unofficial Pride parties and gatherings in the city, is being reopened ahead of the event.
Okay lets look at other events held at Dupont Circle Park... were there other acts of vandalism? Was there arrests of underage drinking at other events? So why was it closed down? Nothing out of the ordinary happened in the park that that doesn't happen at other events beside the Pride event... my guess is someone got carried away with Trump's anti-LGBTQ+ edict and other realized their mistake.
