Stop! You Can't Do That!

I don't know if you saw the videos of Trump trying to explain the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution.

And now Trump gets his hand slapped...

A federal judge on Wednesday blocked President Donald Trump from imposing his demands for stricter immigration enforcement, and his opposition to abortion and transgender rights, on local governments as a condition of receiving hundreds of millions of dollars in federal homeless-assistance funds.

Those requirements “were not approved by Congress and are not closely related to the purposes of the grants and the programs they fund,” U.S. District Judge Barbara Rothstein of Seattle wrote in a temporary restraining order against the restrictions ordered by Trump’s Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Back in January was when Trump issued his EO and the National Low Income Housing Coalition had this to say back then,
Late yesterday afternoon, a federal judge issued a temporary block on the Trump administration’s directive to all federal departments and agencies to freeze all federal assistance funding. The judge’s stay is in place until Monday, February 3, at 5 pm.

“The court’s decision gives advocates and congressional champions more time to oppose this extreme order, which could prevent states and local governments, nonprofit organizations, and low-income families from receiving the critical resources needed to address our nation’s most pressing affordable housing and homelessness challenges,” said NLIHC Interim President and CEO Renee Willis.

Meanwhile, the Trump administration has temporarily resumed payments for some housing programs, including Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers, Project-Based Rental Assistance, Section 202 Housing for the Elderly, and Section 811 Housing for Persons with Disabilities.

Despite this temporary measure, however, all HUD programs remain at significant risk if federal funds are frozen. Advocates must keep up the pressure on federal lawmakers to ensure that all federal housing and homelessness programs are protected, including Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers; Project-Based Rental Assistance; Section 202 Housing for the Elderly; Section 811 Housing for Persons with Disabilities; Homeless Assistance Grants; Public Housing Operating and Capital Funds; HOME Investment Partnerships Program; Community Development Block Grants; Housing for Persons with AIDS; Fair Housing; Housing Counseling; Eviction Prevention Grants; the national Housing Trust Fund; Tribal housing programs; and many others.
Back then when Trump issued the EO senior citizens created fear that they would be thrown out of nursing homes. The court went on to write according the SF Chronicle...
But they said the purpose was clearly “to require grant recipients to implement (Trump’s) political agenda as a condition to receiving federal funds.” In other words, the local governments said, “to prohibit policies or programs promoting inclusion for people of different races, ethnicities, national origins, sexes, gender identities, and sexual orientations through the guise of enforcing federal nondiscrimination law.”
Now I would like to point out that when President Biden was still in office Trump said...

President Donald Trump and top allies who have questioned the constitutionality of recent court orders blocking the administration’s agenda touted similar rulings by federal courts as “great news” and “brilliant” when they paused President Joe Biden’s policies.

When a federal judge in Texas halted a Biden administration pause on deportations six days after Trump was inaugurated, presidential aide Stephen Miller took to social media to describe the temporary restraining order as “great news.” When a judge in Louisiana blocked Biden aides from asking social media platforms to remove content, Trump called the decision “amazing.”
But... but... their tune has completely changed!
“Just last week, in a historic ruling, a brilliant federal judge ordered the Biden administration to cease and desist from their illegal and unconstitutional censorship in collusion with social media,” Trump told an audience in Florida in 2023. (The Supreme Court months later would decide in Biden’s favor.)
He is a conniving, lying, opportunist, and scumbag who will use anyone or anything to to get ahead.
