It is a very simple answer... GREED!
The Republican have done everything they can to sabotage the USPS!
First off... you know how the Republicans always go on about the intent of the Constitution but all of that is just a smoke screen, the Post Office is spelled out in the Constitution...
U.S. Constitution, in Article I, Section 8, Clause 7, grants Congress the power "To establish Post Offices and post Roads," empowering them to create and regulate the postal system."
They are announcing more cuts on top of the cuts that have been made already.
NewsweekBy Gabe Whisnant and Jesus MesaMarch 14, 2025Postmaster General Louis DeJoy plans to cut 10,000 jobs and slash billions from the U.S. Postal Service budget, working in coordination with Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency, according to a letter sent to Congress on Thursday.DOGE will assist the USPS in tackling "big problems" at the $78 billion-a-year agency, which has struggled financially in recent years. The agreement also includes the General Services Administration (GSA) to help identify and implement "further efficiencies."In the letter, DeJoy highlighted issues including retirement asset mismanagement, inefficiencies within the Workers' Compensation Program, and restrictive regulations. He argues that these regulations prevent the USPS from operating like a typical business.
Hey Postmaster General! For the last 5 years you have been ahead of the Post Office so any inefficiencies are either A) You did it. or B) You having been doing your job for the last 5 years!
Here it comes! Whether you are read or not here they come... Trump & Company are pushing to put the post office up for the highest bidder!
WLOXBy Destiny PolsterMar. 12, 2025The next entity at risk of being dissected by the Trump Administration is the United States Postal Service.Across the country, the staple light blue uniform is being traded for these red shirts, reading “fight like hell”. To match, a number of firm chants defend the USPS as it faces the potential threat of being dismantled and privatized.“The president mentioned some sort of a merger with a private sector. We are 100% opposed to any sort of privatization,” says Brian Renfroe.Renfroe is the president of the National Association of Letter Carriers. He visits Biloxi from the association’s headquarters in Washington, D.C.
The Republicans have for years trying to kneecap the post office! They did it by forcing them to face high operating costs such as requiring to put aside more that what is normally required for employee pensions. Here in town they took out all the blue boxes and the only way to mail a letter is to drive to the post office. Also they reorganizing isn't working... It took four weeks (yes, that is weeks.) for a check to get to the business that put in the new kitchen. I had to stop delivery on the check and drive to the Cape to hand carry the check. Four weeks later I get an email... my check arrived!
“I don’t care where you at, where you live, we will deliver,” says Antonia Shields. “We are a universal service; the cost is equal across the United States, it’s regulated. If they take it, and the billionaires get their hands on it, then we will have prices, and we won’t be able to deliver in our rural areas.”
Somehow I don't see a private mail company driving out in middle of no-place to delivery "a" letter. Heck Amazon doesn't even deliver to the tip of Cape Cod! I had to take out a P.O. Box in order to get Amazon to deliver.
