The “Cancel Culture” Or “Woke”

Raise you hand if you know what those mean?

Because I don’t know what they mean.

Let us take a look at the Cancel Culture that the Republicans are always accusing the Democrats of. They cite “erasing history,” the “violating free exchange of ideas, thoughts, and speech”, “defund the police,” the “attack on religion,” the destruction of the white culture with ‘Black Lives Matter’,” and the list goes on and on.

Let’s take a look at “erasing history” what started this was the Pilgrims. Yup, it is all their fault! That they brought over slaves on the Mayflower and somehow forgot to mention it in our history lessons! Many on that ship were indentured servants… ops sorry. Oh another thing that they forgot to teach in history class, the Indigenous peoples attacked the Europeans at First Encounter beach in Eastham because the Pilgrims was stealing the Indigenous people's winter food stock. “Oh lookie here! Someone buried corn, they must not want it so let’s take it!”

So what got the Republicans are all riled up over are the facts that history buried because it embarrassed them to admit it. Another thing that got the Republicans in a hissy fit over is the “attack on religion” they can’t face the fact that people are using their feet to vote. You might have heard of the schism in the United Methodists over gays and trans people, the headlines that said that 2000 churches leave the Methodists but what they didn’t say was that it is out of 30,000 United Methodists churches in the U.S. or only around 6 percent! That the church goers are leaving non-affirming churches and going to affirming churches… they don’t want to hear “Fire and Brimstone” instead they want to hear love and acceptance and the teachings of Jesus and not of the Old Testament.

The conservatives are hopping mad over Rockport Maine policy change claiming it is “Woke”…  “Historically known as the ‘Sea Goddess Coronation,’ the event will now be opening up participation to anyone ages 16-22.” they claim it is about trans contestants. The Courier-Gazette reported that,

It is not about being “woke” and has nothing to do with transgender people or the politics of gender identity.

It is about not leaving anyone out. Representation matters.

But to the conservatives that is “Fake News” that somehow it is a liberal conspiracy to be inclusive rather than exclusive. The right-wing conservatives believe it is their god given right to discriminate.

A new “Woke” battle is shaping up over, now get this of all things, gas stoves! With a natural gas shortage in the Northeast, with increasing evidence of indoor air pollution New York City is banning natural gas stoves. Did that yank the conservatives’ chain!

The conservative National Review wrote:

“A first-in-the-nation, unconstitutional ban on natural gas hookups in new construction will drive up utility bills and increase housing costs,” state Senate minority leader Robert  Ortt said in a prepared statement.

While on the flip side the liberal Mother Jones wrote:

With 40,000 new buildings built each year in New York, the move is being widely celebrated by East Coast climate advocates who see this as a major step to reaching New York state’s goal of net-zero emissions by 2050. Buildings are the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in both New York City and New York state, where they are responsible for one-third of emissions collectively.

Gee, that kind of gives a different slant on the ban. That kind of gives a different view of the argument, but of course the right-wing conservatives don’t believe in “global warming” so that gives you an idea of where they are coming from, anything about “global warming” is by definition “Woke.”

So about the “Cancel Culture” who…

• Banned “saying gay”?
• Banned a woman’s right to choose?
• Banned books?
• Banned the teaching of slavery and the civil rights movement?
• Banned investing in Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) companies?
• Banned companies from doing diversity training?
• Banned drag queens?
• Banned trans health?

So who are the real “Cancel Culture” the right-wing conservatives or the liberal?

From the comments on a Yahoo News site: You know what other countries have adopted "free speech, as long as I agree with it" policies? Afghanistan, Russia, North Korea.....you know, dictators.

Teen boys arrested after schoolboy, 14, brutally attacked ‘for being gay’

Three juvenile males have been arrested in Navan, Ireland, as part of an investigation into an assault on a schoolboy that was recorded and circulated on social media.

There was widespread public condemnation when footage was circulated on social media showing a group of schoolboys violently assaulting one of their peers. A family member of the victim has claimed the boy was targeted because he is gay.

The victim subsequently received treatment for “serious facial injuries” in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, County Louth.

An Garda Síochána, the Irish police force, confirmed on Friday (19 May) that three male juveniles have been arrested for alleged offences under Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1999.

The boys are being detained in Garda stations in the Meath area under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The incident has attracted widespread media attention after a clip of the attack went viral on social media.

It is great that the community spoke out against this but… the atmosphere that lead up to the children thinking that they could do this that has to be changed. Hillary Clinton was right it takes a village. It takes a village end the violence. Whether it is the gun violence on the streets or it is lawmakers passing oppressive vindictive laws it takes a village to say enough!

All through out history dictators, fascists, authoritarians, and others that climbed on the backs of others used the same tactics, whether it was the Jews, or the Muslims, or the Gypsies, or the Blacks, or us the would be despot used to seize power.
