The state of New Jersey is taking a town school board to court...
North Jersey

The state Attorney General's Office has filed a civil rights complaint against the Hanover Township school district and requested an emergency court order to stop the district from implementing a policy adopted Tuesday night that would require teachers to disclose to parents the gender identity and sexual orientation of LGBTQIA+ students.

The school district has, in turn, challenged the state, saying it will "vigorously defend" this policy which it says "protects parental rights and ensures the safety of all school children."

Schools in New Jersey are required to accept a student's preferred gender identity and pronouns without parental consent, according to the state's Law Against Discrimination and the state Department of Education's Transgender Student Guidance issued in 2018. The Attorney General's lawsuit says that the new policy adopted by Hanover Township violates state law and is in contradiction with its own existing transgender student policies.

[…]

The state's lawsuit only challenges inclusion of language in the policy on gender identity, LGBTQ+ and transitioning students which it says violates state law by discriminating against the protected categories of sexual orientation and gender identity.
LGBTQ+ students do not harm to anyone, what do you think if would happen if they want to know how many blacks are in the class? Or what about how many Jews and Muslims are in the class? Do you think people would be upset about giving out information on those groups? Why is it okay for us?

In addition the governor of Connecticut has created an advisory council on bias crimes which I am on and right now I am in an online Zoom meeting and we just had a report from the state police hate crime unit. There were a number white supremacists leaflets around the state (about a dozen), they have look into some bias crimes around the state, during Ramadan and Passover they increased patrols around the places of worships.

Another report was by the US Attorney Office about bias crimes around nation and they talked the lack of compliance in reporting of bias crimes, only half of the police forces around the nation report the bias crimes and many states don’t report to any crimes at all! Senator Blumenthal office said that Congress is looking into legislation to force those who to take federal funds to report. The Senator's office is looking into was to make the governor's advisory bias crime council nationwide.

The meeting is still going on. Now we are looking at where we need to looking at ways to change behavior.

I love being in a Blue state!

I just got an invite to table at the Capitol building for... June 5th “Pride Day at the Capitol while the legislature is in session. (It ends on June 7). Do you think Florida or Texas would hold a Pride Day at the Capitol?
