We Are Persecuted For Votes

The Republicans don’t care who they hurt as long as they win.

Republican candidates across the US are engaging in a legislative and messaging barrage against transgender people that they hope will win over voters in November’s midterm elections.

In September alone, a Michigan gubernatorial candidate proposed a bill barring transgender female students from playing on women’s sports teams, a South Carolina US representative put out attack ads accusing her opponent of supporting “child abuse,” and an Arizona US Senate candidate retweeted an ad slamming his rival for supporting gender-affirming health care for transgender youth.

The strategy comes as the GOP finds itself on unfavorable political ground when it comes to certain social issues. On abortion rights, which have emerged as a top voter concern since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, a majority of US adults align more closely with Democrats.

The Republicans are like magicians using sleight of hand that they use to distract and is designed to manipulate objects and deceive spectators.

First it was marriage equality that they used to distract and anger the voters and now it is us.

Democrat Malcolm Kenyatta, the co-creator of a political action committee that aims to drive anti-LGBTQ lawmakers out of office, said the fresh crop of GOP policies and messages amounted to “an anti-freedom movement” — a view shared by many in his party.

Political Cudgel

Still, Republicans see opportunity, both to motivate their base and persuade other voters, on an issue where public sentiment is not as clear or settled as it is on same-sex marriage.

They riled up their base, many armed anti-LGBTQ+ are showing at drag queens events, in Board of Educations disruptive protesters are shouting down the board members and threats are being made against elective official who don’t vote the way that they want them to vote.

They coach their minions that they are protecting the children by banning books, by denying proper healthcare to trans children.

“Republicans are the party of protecting children,” said Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene at a Sept. 20 press conference discussing a House bill she introduced that would make it a felony to provide gender-affirming care to a minor. “Not only are we the party of protecting life in the womb, we want to protect kids’ lives and their innocence.”

The exact same thing that Anita Bryant did in her “Save the Children” campaign back the late 70s but now it is on steroids with backing of billionaires and religious leaders.

LGBTQ advocates argue that anti-trans legislation has gained traction in part because of the public lacks information on the topic. Just 8% of Americans say they’re following news about bills related to trans people extremely or very closely, according to the Pew survey.

“Most people don’t understand even what it means to be trans or what kinds of issues trans people face in their day to day lives,” said Johnathan Gooch, communications director at Equality Texas, an LGBTQ-rights organization.

That is why they want to ban books, that is why they outlawed talking about LGBTQ+ topics in schools, and that is why they are banning healthcare for us. They want them to learn about us, only 8% of the population knows anything about us.

On a local TV news program they are asked the people protesting the LGBTQ+ books what was exactly in the books knew what they were protesting. For Better or For Worst October 4th, comic was about their son protesting the bus fare increase but his son didn’t have all the facts and the same thing with the book banners, they are just told that the books are pornographic and they believe them without ever having to pick up the book.

The Republicans are doing the same thing with immigrants, I see the New Hampshire political ads and they are saying about the border crisis and the crime that they are creating… tell when was the last time you read about any crimes being committed in your town by immigrants?

They create fears about crime but crime has actually going down! But you would never know it by the Republicans’ ads. Connecticut actually has a lower crime rate that Florida and Texas both Republican states!

  • Connecticut – Crime Rate: 3,311.75. Violent Crime Rate: 181.59. Non-Violent Crime Rate: 3,130.16
  • Florida – Crime Rate: 3,922.46, Violent Crime Rate: 383.60,Non-Violent Crime Rate: 3,538.86
  • Texas – Crime Rate: 4,936.53, Violent Crime Rate: 446.46, Non-Violent Crime Rate: 4,490.07

They are using smoke and mirrors to count on the voters not knowing the facts.

We need to take a stand! We need to educate the public.

We need to Harvey Milk’s words back…

Gay brothers and sisters, you must come out. Come out to your parents. I know that it is hard and will hurt them, but think about how they will hurt you in the voting booth! Come out to your relatives. Come out to your friends, if indeed they are your friends. Come out to your neighbors, to your fellow workers, to the people who work where you eat and shop. Come out only to the people you know, and who know you, not to anyone else. But once and for all, break down the myths. Destroy the lies and distortions. For your sake. For their sake.

We have to come and educate the public! We have to be visible! We have to stand proud and tall!
