It was never about the flag. It is about power, it is a loyalty test.
AP NewsBy MEG KINNARDJanuary 14, 2025House Speaker Mike Johnson on Tuesday ordered that flags at the U.S. Capitol be raised to their full height on Inauguration Day, pausing a 30-day flag-lowering order following the death of former President Jimmy Carter. The Republican leader’s decision means that President-elect Donald Trump will not take the oath of office for his second term under a half-staff flag, a prospect that he had previously complained about. It mirrors actions taken in recent days by some Republican governors who have announced that flags in their states would be raised on Inauguration Day to mark Trump’s second term.
Are you a loyal follower of the god Trump? Do you believe?
North Dakota Gov. Kelly Armstrong, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey, Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee and Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds did so on Tuesday, noting in announcements that U.S. flags across their states would be relowered on Jan. 21 in honor of Carter. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott issued a similar notice on Monday.
Yesterday I wrote on Facebook…
I just went grocery shopping and on the way and back I passed about a half a dozen flag poles all but one was at half staff. I one that wasn't had a MAGA flag flying under the full staff American flag.
I tell you it is a loyalty test! The MAGA kowtow to him, live by every word he say.
Nobody would have thought anything the flags being at half staff but their guru has spoken and his wish is their command. Did you see the twerp that their leader wants for Sectary of Defense Hegseth, is said to have tattoos that are symbols of White supremacy and Christian nationalism.
And Senate see nothing wrong with him. Anything that their lord and master says… “Yes master, as you wish.”

The story about Abbott and Inauguration Day flags shows how fragile we’ve becomeInsults and symbols take up too much of our head space.By Dallas Morning News EditorialJan. 18, 2025Gov. Greg Abbott’s decision to fly flags at state facilities at full staff on Inauguration Day was a threat to civility only for the most fragile. Sadly, there’s a lot of fragility out there.Flags elsewhere — on federal buildings and in most states — will still be flown at half-staff until Jan. 29, 30 days after the death of former President Jimmy Carter. On social media, Abbott was called a dictator, a scumbag and a bootlicker by progressive posters, while conservative hot takes included “The living are more important than the dead” and “Carter was one of the worst Presidents. We didn’t need to lower our flag.”Meanwhile, partisan media hyped the move with headlines like: “Texas Gov. Greg Abbott defies federal government, orders flags to fly at full staff for Trump inauguration.”
NOLA.comBy JULIA GUILBEAUJanuary 18, 2025Louisiana will join other Republican states in fully raising their flags the day of President-elect Trump's inauguration — and will fly a Make America Great Again flag at the governor's mansion, Gov. Jeff Landry's office announced in a proclamation Friday. The state's flags were previously scheduled to fly at half staff in honor of the Bourbon Street attack victims. And concerns over flag heights proliferated across the U.S., where all state and national offices are currently flying their flags at half staff to honor late former President Jimmy Carter, who died on Dec. 29.Several states led by Republican governors, including Texas, North Dakota and Florida, announced recently that they would raise their flags to honor the returning the President, and U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-Benton, on Tuesday ordered that the U.S. Capitol's flags be raised to full on Jan. 20 for Inauguration Day.Landry announced he'll also fly a "Make America Great Again" flag at the Governor's Mansion in Baton Rouge and asked in his proclamation that Louisiana residents join him.
I tell you this whole think about the flag is nothing but a loyalty test to see who is not RINO!

Disrespect is the new normAny person who disrespects the presidency is not fit for office.President-elect Donald Trump did not attend President Joe Biden's inauguration and wish him well. Now he has whined his way into having the United States flags flying full-staff during our national time of mourning for Jimmy Carter.Since most Americans voted for Donald, this must be the new American norm, disrespect and rudeness for our heads of state. What a nation we have become.
As the GOP bows to the most ignorant, selfish, childish and criminal of men, we ask ourselves what can be done. We may not see another free and fair election, not so long as the GOP controls state houses, the courts and the apparatus of national government.
ReplyDeleteWhat’s left? The time has come for a national boycott. All of this nonsense is the direct result of oligarchs. Remember that to the oligarchs, your only value lies in consumer purchasing (look how they react to a drop in gross revenues) and as personal data to sell.
Start by dropping Facebook, X, and Amazon Prime. That’s a bare minimum. Drop the WaPO and LaTimes, and any other media outlet that has sane washed this madman. And of course, boycott Fox “News”, Fox Sports, WSJ and Fox general entertainment options.
Skip the Super Bowl!
And look deeper. Tim Cook jouneyed to Mar Lago to cut a deal on Apple imports. Cut your spending on Apple products. Make that iPhone last another couple of years…you can live without the features.
Finally, postpone big ticket items. Don’t buy that new car, and of course, not a Tesla. Postpone the move to a new house. Skip the trip to Disney.
How long? Well, you’re going to be coping with this madness for the next four years. Boycott as therapy. You will feel better taking $130 out of Jeff Bezos’s pocket and observing stock values falling at Meta and Tesla. When enough of us do this, the oligarchs might even begin to question throwing their lot in with a psychopath.
Excellent comment above from Anonymous at 7:04.
ReplyDeleteI want to add my bit about the flag. I do not own an amerikkkan flag. As a matter of fact I do not own a Rainbow Flag either. Flags draw boundaries between people and nations. If I did own a flag I know that I would fly it upside down on the day that the fascists take over the white house. Is it time that we start again with what we called consciousness- raising groups, small groups of people to talk about and think about these problems that we will be facing and are now facing and what we can do about it all. Starting with our people and them moving out. A great start is what Anonymous is saying. One thing I am very interested in is how are we going to get the meds to our Trans folks if they are banned. Can we form an underground railroad from Canada to here. Lots of questions that we face today and can hopefully be solved by a group think tank.
I used to my meds from New Zealand because the company I worked for was under ERISA and didn't have to follow the CT non-discrimination laws.
DeleteIt was actually cheaper to order them from NZ than I am paying now under Medicare. There was never any problems with getting them, they were never questions by customs. Since I was getting regular lab work done I wasn't worried about the quality of the hormones.
