Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
I have been debating whether to play today or not… the last week I haven’t felt like doing anything and I’ve been down in the dumps… I think that it is a mild depression.
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) Are you enjoying winter? Or do you daydream about summer?
Actually, I been dreaming of winter… how I used to go skiing. I miss it now but… when I went leaf peeking this fall, I saw the prices for a day ticket it is crazy. $129 for a week day pass!
Back in my day (I can officially say that because I am a certified senior! I got my certification for playing Bingo at a senior center,) the bus, a lift ticket were all around $30.
2) In this week's song, trees sway in the breeze. Is it windy where you are today?
No, last week was crazy with the wind, bur not today.
3) There's rain outside their window. Have you more recently seen rain or snow?
No, and that is the problem here in the northeast we are in a mild drought.
4) This week's artists are the duo Chad and Jeremy. As a teen, Chad Stuart was very versatile in the arts. While he enjoyed drawing, he showed real promise in music and won a scholarship to London's Central School of Speech and Drama. When you were a teenager, what were your best classes?
Science.
5) Between 1965 and 1966, Chad and Jeremy played British pop stars on a variety of American TV shows, including The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Patty Duke Show, and Batman. Which of those series do you remember?
All of them! It would be nice if those cable channels would carry them again. Now they show Dragnet, Adam 12, and Highway Patrol. Another channel has McHale's Navy, Barney Miller, The Partridge Family, Hazel… etc.
6) While those TV appearances were good for the duo's record sales, they sowed the seeds of dissent between the friends. Jeremy Clyde realized he enjoyed acting far more than music and began threatening to leave the act. Chad finally got tired of dissuading him. Between Jeremy's dramatic aspirations and contract disputes, they broke up. Later they both admitted they regretted the split, but as Chad said, "we were just kids." Is there an old friend you've drifted away from but miss?
Yeah… my high school gang.
7) In 1964, when "A Summer Song" was popular, the #1 movie in the country was Mary Poppins. Have you seen it?
Nope.
8) One of the biggest news stories of 1964 was Elizabeth Taylor's wedding to Richard Burton. The bride wore yellow, with yellow and white flowers in her hair. The groom wore a dark suit, red tie and yellow boutonniere. What did you wear last time you got dressed up?
Well when you are retired there not too many occasions to dress up any more. For Zoom meetings all you need is a blouse. I might half to shortly… I probably have to testify on a bill that I am pushing, a senior bill of rights for nursing homes and long term care facilities.
9) Random question: When you're in the backseat, do you wear a seatbelt?
Always! Back in December 1970 I tried going through the windshield and decided I didn't like it. It could really ruin your day.
Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

I don’t like bring politics here but I am worried about our country and what the future will bring for us. I am worried about WWIII with China and Russia. Are we becoming a fascist nation run by oligarchs. I am worried that I might have to flee the country of my birth.
Oh by the way... expect produce prices to go through the roof and massive shortages. In California almost three quarters of the pickers haven't shown up to pick the crops and fruits and vegetables are rotting in fields due to labor shortages in agriculture. Other states like Florida and Texas also have shortages of workers but not as bad a California.
My brother has been wonderful... he been checking up on me, seeing how I am doing and just talking.
I remember an old proverb… “My you live in interesting times”
Here in Chicago it snowed 5 out of 7 days last week. HATE winter I was born in July. I was pall bearer for my cousin last February last time in a suit and tie. You Bet Your Life with Groucho! Close female friend of mine passed 11/23 miss her everyday. Summer Days by Sly Stone better summer song. Yes a little sugar makes the medicine go down. Having the Pumpkin Prince behind the button should worry the world. I pray for world peace everyday. In light of recent changes will there be a Pride month and Parades this year? Orange Julius will affect all those who didn’t vote for him. Getting long winded!
ReplyDeleteGlennda, Keep talking, don't worry about being long winded. Send out those ideas for all of us to think about and share. We need to talk and build a movement of resistance to trump and the fascists. I wonder also about Pride but in another way. With the proud boys now free and roaming will they become the new street thugs like in history past. Will it be open season on us all. How can we meet this challenge? So many questions that make my head spin and as a elder in this tribe I am lost for many answers.
DeleteI tried to tell everyone about the Pumpkin Prince across 3 websites prior to the election. Jimmy Kimmel tried to tell everyone for months to no avail. Impeached twice 34 felony charges they turned a deaf ear. Don’t let him force Congress into changing two terms only. Richard I’ll be here on my soapbox for the next 4 years. Keep the faith!
DeleteDiana, I've been thinking about you as I read about the President's decrees. (Not to be too political).
ReplyDeleteWe've had a relatively mild (for Northern Maine) winter with not too much snow and only about a week of sub-zero weather.
Drought Famine unfair political system. Sounds familiar? End of days.
ReplyDeleteThings will not get better, I'm afraid. All we can do is take each day as it comes.
ReplyDeleteThe prices of activities now leave me shaking my head. I don't know how young families with kids can manage it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, going through the windshield has the potential to ruin your day ,,.
ReplyDeleteSee if your cable provider can get the Catchy Comedy Channel. The Dick Van Dyke Show is on every weeknight. https://www.catchycomedy.com/wheretowatch/affiliate/602
ReplyDeleteDick van Dyke was okay. But that whinny wife was terrible. How she got where she was I’ll never know.
