It Is A Train Wreck!

It is like watching a three ring circus, all that is missing is a calliope music...

First he froze all the grants and funding, then he didn't, then he kind of did. Now he halted PrEP... well now he didn't... Nobody really know the status of the grants and funding of non-profits.

Earlier this week, the Trump administration banned organizations and doctors that receive funding under PEPFAR – a foreign aid program that works to fight global HIV/AIDS – but now says that the distribution of HIV medications can resume.

On Sunday night, the Trump administration told organizations that receive U.S. aid under PEPFAR to stop distributing HIV medication to patients “even if the drugs have already been obtained and are sitting in local clinics,” according to the New York Times. Patients were turned away from clinics on Monday.
Yup, they don't think thinks through... it is like they have blinders on and they are really surprised that people are going No F**king Way!
But on Tuesday, after public outcry, the Trump administration walked back its ban on distributing HIV medication to patients who need it. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that the State Department would offer a waiver for lifesaving medication. It’s not clear if this applies to preventative medication offered by PEPFAR, like PrEP.
Meanwhile all the health agencies around the world think we are nuts.

EuroNews writes...
Global health authorities are raising the alarm after US President Donald Trump froze funding for anti-HIV programmes that cover treatment for 30 million people worldwide.

The World Health Organization (WHO) said the temporary pause on all foreign aid puts access to HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) diagnostics, medicines, and treatment at risk in low and middle-income countries, which could have dire health consequences.

“A funding halt for HIV programmes can put people living with HIV at immediate increased risk of illness and death and undermine efforts to prevent transmission in communities and countries,” the WHO said in a statement.

A prolonged pause on foreign assistance could take “the world back to the 1980s and 1990s when millions died of HIV every year globally”.
There are some Republicans think that it is a "Gay" disease and straight people can't get it! Diseases are not gay, straight and they keep on coming infecting people around the world.
