This Is Very Troubling!

Can you imagine that there is an “active shooter” in a school and a student is denied access to safety and left outside to face the shooter? Well it happened in a drill in Virginia.

STAFFORD, Va. -- An alarming day for a young, transgender girl after she was barred from using both the boys' and girls' locker room.

During a lock down safety drill at her middle school in Stafford County, last week the LGBTQ rights group Equality Stafford says she was forced to sit alone on the bleachers and then in the hall while everyone else in her physical education class at a Stafford County middle school took shelter in locker rooms.
Newsweek reported…

"During an event that prepares children to survive an attack by actual assailants, she was treated as if she was so much of a danger to peers that she was left exposed and vulnerable," the post read. "We need all of you to come out on October 9th at 6:30 pm to the Stafford County School Board Meeting at 31 Stafford Avenue. We need you to come and lend your voice to the growing cry."

Sherrie Johnson, Director of Strategic Communication Stafford County Public Schools, released a statement to WUSA.

"Stafford County Public Schools does not comment on individual student incidents to avoid divulging confidential information. However, the new superintendent has requested a review of all protocols and procedures to ensure that all children are treated with dignity and respect. We take such matters very seriously and they will be addressed. The welfare of all students is of the utmost importance for SCPS."
I am speechless.

This is so horribly wrong that I just don’t know what to say. Can you imagine if this happened to some other minority the out roar this would create?

The school board meeting is tonight… if I find any articles I will post a follow-up.

I am at my brother’s and sister-in-law’s place for the next couple of days so my blog has been pre-written for the next couple of days.
