Bills That I Am Following This Session

There are a number of LGBTQ+ bills that have been introduced this session…

HB 5505 AN ACT CONCERNING THE UPDATING OF STATE FORMS AND GENDER IDENTITY.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
1 That the general statutes be amended to require state agencies to
2 update all forms or applications used by the public that require the
3 person filling out such form or application to indicate a gender to
4 include a nonbinary gender option.
Statement of Purpose:
To require all state agency forms and applications to be updated with a non-binary gender option.

HB 6219: AN ACT CONCERNING SAFE BATHROOM FACILITIES AT SCHOOLS
FOR GENDER NONCONFORMING STUDENTS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
1 That chapter 170 of the general statutes be amended to require that
2 local and regional boards of education ensure that students in middle
3 school and high school have equal access to gender-neutral bathroom
4 facilities.
Statement of Purpose:
To address the basic needs of gender nonconforming students by ensuring that they have access to safe bathroom facilities while in middle schools and high schools.

HB 6482: AN ACT CONCERNING A LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL AND
TRANSGENDER HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES NETWORK.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
1 That the general statutes be amended to establish a state-wide
2 coalition of providers, community centers, and researchers working
3 collectively to (1) advocate for state level policies and resources to
4 advance lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) health, and (2)
5 help build capacity to foster a safer and more supportive state for all
6 LGBT residents.
Statement of Purpose:
To establish a statewide LGBT health and human services network to advance LGBT health and build capacity to foster a safer and more supportive state for LGBT residents.

SB 58: AN ACT CONCERNING GAY AND TRANSGENDER PANIC DEFENSE
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
1 That title 53a of the general statutes be amended to provide that a
2 criminal defendant may not use the shock of learning that the victim of
3 the defendant's crime was gay or transgender to justify or excuse the
4 violence perpetrated by the defendant against the victim.
Statement of Purpose:
To ban gay and transgender panic as a criminal defense.

I have a bill tracker on each of them and I will let you all know when there is a change in status. Unfortunately the lobbyist who use to track them for us and let us know in advanced has retired so it might be just the day before the committee hearing that I find out about them.
