Sam’s Saturday 9: My Favorite Things (2018)
On Saturdays I take a break from the heavy stuff and have some fun…
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) This week's artist, Jennie Abrahamson, is very happy living in Stockholm, but she refers to Paris as "a flirt." She enjoys her time there so much she always wants to return. Is there a place you've visited that tugs at your heart and imagination, tempting you to return?
Acadia.
I would like to go back up to Acadia National Park and maybe up to Nova Scotia and the Cabot Trail. The last time I was in Bar Harbor was back when my grandniece was baptized and now she is 17 years old.
2) Jennie has said her music has been heavily influenced by 80s pop, which was popular in her early teen years. Are your favorite songs the ones you listened to when you were growing up?
Yes I still listen to the bands of the sixties and early seventies. But now I am on a kick listening to the Big Bands like Glenn Miller.
3) "My Favorite Things" is from The Sound of Music. Crazy Sam's high school claim to fame was playing Sister Margaretta in the senior class production. Though not a big part, her performance lives on because relatives love embarrassing her with pictures of her in an especially unflattering nun's habit. Who took an embarrassing photo of you? What were you doing?
Sleeping. Someone snapped a photo of me sleeping at a party at a friend’s apartment, after a sleepness night I dozed off.
4) The lyrics celebrate "brown paper packages tied up in strings." What was in the last box you received in the mail?
From Amazon, I received a label marker.
5) It mentions doorbells and sleighbells. What's the most recent bell or alarm that you heard?
Hmm… the last time I remember bells ringing was when I was walking across the Quinnipiac University campus and the clock tower bells were ringing the hour; I was a guest lecturer for a class there.
6) This song has nice things to say about cold weather, specifically snowflakes and mittens. What do you like about winter?
Spring. Winter makes you appreciate spring more.
So far this January we only had one winter storm.
7) Dog bites and bee stings are singled out as things that can leave us feeling sad. What's most recently given you the blues?
I think the lack of daylight.
8) In 2018, when this song was released, Roger Federer won the Australian Open. Are you good with a racket?
Ha… this doesn’t even need a comment from me, I think you all know me by now.
9) Random question -- Your local zoo announced the hatching of three snowy owlets. All males. You won the honor of naming them. Go ahead.
Huey, Dewey, and Louie.
Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

We Sat 9ers do not seem to be wizards on the tennis court!
ReplyDelete#6--I envy your light winter. We've been clobbered by snow this year. And now it's all iced over. Ugh. Why do I live in Maine?
ReplyDeleteI have one of those lights that is supposed to help with SAD in the wintertime (although I tend to use it year-round). I think it does help a little. If you don't have one maybe you could try it.
ReplyDeleteThat is one thing I absolutely love about Summer is longer days! I do not like the shorter days in the winter. We haven't had even what I would call a winter storm here where I live. Just flurries. I would like a few inches of snow and then we can move on to Spring. Have a nice weekend! Loved your answers!

I'm Amazon box guilty as well. It is just way too easy to order stuff sometimes.
