The U.S. military said on Saturday two of its personnel were killed in Jordan and another was missing after an Iranian attack, while Iran's supreme leader said Washington would pay for "seeking to escalate the conflict" after a seventh straight night of U.S. strikes.

The U.S. and Iran have intensified ‌attacks since an interim ceasefire deal signed a month ago fell apart last week, raising the possibility of a return to all-out war.

U.S. Central Command said the two deaths occurred on Friday and that a third U.S. service member was missing in action. The announcement brought the number of U.S. service members killed since the war began to 16, while more than 420 have been wounded.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Thursday claimed it destroyed three US F-35 Lightning II stealth fighter jets and severely damaged three more in a ballistic missile strike on Jordan's al-Azraq Air Base, in what, if verified, would mark one of the most significant losses of America's most advanced combat aircraft.

According to a statement carried by Iran International, the attack targeted an aircraft parking area and a maintenance hangar at the base in response to a US strike on Iran's Qeshm Island. The IRGC also claimed that several US military officers and maintenance personnel were killed in the strike.

The United States has not confirmed the claim, and there has been no independent verification of the reported destruction or damage to the aircraft.

So which was it? Did the planes get destroyed and the Trump administration doesn't want admit it or Iran is lying?
