The New Bandwagon… “Ice ICE!” Liberal candidates (while conservatives cry for more funding) are talking about getting rid of ICE, an agency created in response to 9/11.
It was a knee-jerk reaction to the attacks on us; maybe it is time to revisit it, either to abolish it or reshape it away from the Gestapo-like agency that Trump molded it into. But let’s not have another knee-jerk reaction in the opposite direction.
ICE was created to track down potential security threats inside the country, but it has morphed into an agency known for bashing heads and civil liberties violations.
Under Trump’s presidencies, it has been transformed into a heavy-handed force that ignored the Constitution and due process. However, no matter what replaces it, the system remains ripe for abuse. Who defines what a “terrorist” is? Under Trump, the transgender community has been targeted and demonized as terrorists.
All I am saying is: don’t be hasty and create another monster!
