On Saturdays I take a break from the heavy stuff and have some fun…
I’m up in Vermont today at our annual support group picnic, so I will probably not be able to approve of the comments until tomorrow.
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) In this song, Kelly Clarkson is dissatisfied with her relationship and she's moving on. What's something you've moved on from lately? It could be anything from a romance to the laundry detergent you've been using for years.
My Prius I’m turning sour on it because for new Prius plug-ins you have to pay a monthly fee to use the GPS, Traffic, etc. If I pay that much for a car I am not going to pay a monthly fee to use them.
2) She sings that she can now breathe. Studies have shown that July can be a good month for allergy sufferers because trees and grasses are no longer pollinating. How are your eyes, ears, nose and throat this morning?
It is amazing… everything was all stopped up and then the wind change and my head cleared up.
Monday I have cataract surgery for my second eye.
3) Kelly complains that their romance reminds her of a "stupid love song." Let's be more positive: what love song do you associate with positive memories?
"Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head"
My pet peeve: I searched on YouTube for "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" and all I got was how to play it on a guitar... WHAT??? I guess the YouTube didn't think that I didn't really want to listen to the song but rather learn how to play it, so it added "on a guitar" Grr...
4) While Kelly's first love is music, she's established herself as a TV personality. In addition to her daytime talk show, she's been a judge on The Voice and hosted an awards show. Have you ever been on TV?
Oh yes! I’ve been on all the local Sunday morning talking heads shows… Face the State, etc. Also I have been interviewed on the evening news.
5) She has confessed a weakness for Doritos. Would we find salty snacks in your kitchen right now?
Nope.
6) Kelly has found her weight the source of public debate. Are you like Kelly, whose weight fluctuates? Or does it stay stable?
Down, down, down my weight goes… I am taking Ozempic and Jardiance for my diabetes
7) In 2005, when this song was popular, a motorist made news in Texas when he was ticketed for driving over 200 mph in a 75 mph zone. Have you ever been pulled over by the police?
Um... yes. Once I even had a road block set up for me. Two police cars block the road. One mosey up to me and says... Boy, the sheriff wants to talk to you!
8) Also in 2005, Tom Cruise had a pop culture moment when he famously jumped on a sofa. Do you remember where he did this?
Probably 50 years ago!
9) Random question: Tell us about a photo you wish you'd taken, but didn't.
There are dozens and dozens of pictures I wish I have taken. The last one was when I was going in to P’town and the setting sun was setting behind the Pilgrim Monument but there was no place to pull over. There is deep sand on the sides of the road. (Remember: that Cape Cod is nothing more then a giant sandbar.
Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

The rest of the story... you didn't think that I'll leave you hanging? This was around 11 at night out Rochester NY way. I was driving coming back from skiing with an out of state license plate, college sticker on the back windshield and skis on top of the car. If you know know anything about Wyoming country in NY, it is flat and level farming country (The ski area you parked at the top and skied down to one of the Finger Lakes). There was an intersection with a light and a couple of pine trees at the corner, he must have been hiding in the trees. Because the Sheriff walks up to me and asks... "Do you know what a yellow light means?"
Meanwhile the deputies were shining their flashlights around inside of the car, sniffing the air.
He let us go with... "Kid, you better not run any yellow lights!"
Good luck on Monday! That clip from Butch Cassidy always makes me smile. Burt Bacharach appeared at the TCM Film Festival in 2019 and told us how, after an early screening, Redford said "That song's just a place holder, right?" He thought the song was too modern and didn't fit the film. Fortunately the director, George Roy Hill, disagreed with him. I can't imagine the movie without that song.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the surgery. I also live the clip from the movie.
ReplyDeleteYour traffic stop story reminds me of something my daughter told me. My daughter went to the University of Rhode Island, which is located in a very rural part of the state. On-campus housing is very limited, while freshmen are expected to lie on campus a lot of upper classmen rent beach houses in Narragansett. Lots of traffic down to parties at the beach, So it was parents’ weekend, my daughter was a freshman and a week shy of her 18th birthday. Her father and I drove up to visit her. And she tells her father “be careful how you drive, the cops look for out of state plates.” Sweet child, the cops are not looking for your middle aged parents in a mini van.
All my best for 100% success on Monday. I know from Tim that the worse part was all the drops he had to put in his eyes for what seemed like weeks. I don't know how he kept up with the schedule. He wore glasses since he was in 3rd grade and now at 79 doesn't need them. Amazing really. All the great advances by humankind but then we are still barbarians. Oh yes that escaped photo, so many over the years that now when I am writing I think back and say how I wish I had taken a photo. But then I remember that very few of us took photos at any anti-government demos as not to be confused with the FBI and also so many art works or ones that could be slipped by as I was without a camera. I loved looking at your photos and hope sometime you have a posting of anything new you have done.( or old for that matter) Sometime we need a break from all of the troubles and just see the beauty that people create.
ReplyDeleteBe well and safe.
