Being Uncomfortable Is Not Grounds For Discrimination

Why is it thought out history feeling uncomfortable was reason enough to attack someone, it is all about the “others.” Whether it is because of religion, national origins, race, or whatever it has been used against other groups of people, remember the Samaritans?

DuBOIS — A DuBois Area High School student would like to see the DuBois Area School District enact a policy that requires students use the restroom of their birth gender.

“I have felt like my privacy and many others in my student body have been violated,” the student said at Thursday’s school board meeting.

When asked Friday by the Tri-County Sunday if the district will consider the student’s request, substitute Superintendent Wendy Benton said, “At this time, our focus is on exploring options that support all students.”

She did confirm that transgender students have also voiced their right privately to use restrooms for the gender they identify, but declined to comment on how many citing confidentiality.
We don’t want Chinese here… their skin is different from ours let’s enact immigration laws.
Blacks are inferior… let’s pass Jim Crow segregation laws.
Gays are perverts… let’s pass a law to prevent them from teaching our children.
Latinos, they speak and look different from us… let’s build a wall.
Trans people are just “men in dresses”… let’s ban them from bathrooms and locker rooms.

All of these laws were enacted not because of a real threat but rather a perceived threat just because they are different; they are the “others.”

Conservatives fear people who are different, they bring about change and conservatives despise change. They want things that give them a warm and fuzzy feeling, they want everything to be like their favorite cuddly teddy bear and they want a world of “Father Knows Best.”
