We Do Not Discriminate!

The University of Connecticut is under attack by right-wing organization who believe it is their Constitutional given right to discriminate!
Hartford Courant
By Don Stacom
May 29, 2025

A conservative group that’s pursuing anti-DEI complaints against more than a dozen state universities on Wednesday targeted the University of Connecticut, accusing the school of violating civil rights law by setting aside numerous scholarships exclusively or chiefly for minority students.

The Rhode Island-based Equal Protection Project complained to the federal education department’s Office of Civil Rights that UConn illegally invoked race, ethnicity or gender in awarding several scholarships.

“That racially discriminatory scholarships exist at a major public university is disheartening. It is time for higher education everywhere to focus on the inherent worth and dignity of every student rather than categorizing students based on identity groups,” according to William A. Jacobson, founder of the campaign.

Numerous universities and colleges maintain “minority-focused” scholarships, internship programs, summer residencies or other financial aid tools aimed at increasing enrollment by Black, Hispanic or other student groups.

Educators contend that affirmative action programs are important to overcoming a historical pattern in which minorities have been under-represented in higher education.

But the Equal Protection Project insists that race- or nationality-based financial awards are unconstitutional.
Sadly in today's climate... I believe they will win.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported last year that,
The University of Utah and Weber State University are making extensive changes under HB261.
By Courtney Tanner
June 25, 2024

Black students will no longer have a dedicated center at the University of Utah where they can go for support or to talk about experiencing racism with someone who’s been through the same.

Women, too, will also lose their space at the flagship school that was devoted to their unique challenges, such as coping in the aftermath of a sex assault (which women are disproportionately more affected by). And those in the LGBTQ+ community — many of whom have described their center at the U. as their only safe spot on campus — will see theirs eliminated, as well.

The U. announced late last week that all three centers will be disbanded as the university reorganizes to comply with the state’s anti-DEI law.

It’s the second public school in the state — following Weber State University — to take such a hardline, far-reaching approach to the new conservative-backed requirements around limiting diversity, equity and inclusion efforts in education. Both universities are taking action to eliminate cultural programs beyond what the state’s new law mandates.
Other colleges, and states are also forcing out cultural centers in fear of Trump wrath or Republican ideology. Here in Connecticut UConn’s cultural centers are:

African American Cultural Center (AACC): Provides programs, activities, and resources to foster appreciation and understanding of the heritage and cultural experiences of African Americans and people of African descent in the United States and globally.

Asian American Cultural Center (AsACC): Offers resources and programming to enhance diversity, focusing on recruitment, retention, teaching, service, and outreach for the Asian American community at UConn and beyond.

Puerto Rican/Latin American Cultural Center (PRLACC): Works to improve the status of Latinos, promoting awareness, understanding, and appreciation of Latino and Latin American cultures through educational and cultural programs, services, and leadership opportunities.

Rainbow Center: Supports the needs of the LGBTQIA+ community at UConn through advocacy, education, and programming, promoting an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students.

Women’s Center: Advocates for gender equity and provides support, programming, and resources related to women’s issues, leadership, and empowerment.

The thing is that anyone can join! You don't have to be a woman to attend the women's center. you don't have to be LGBTQ+ to be a member of the center... so how is that discrimination?

Mini-Post: She Knows Best...

Me... Me... Me...

There is a military tradition at West Point of the president shaking hands with the graduation cadets... but not Trump! He broke tradition, which caused rumors to start,
Posts claim West Point cadets 'silently revolted' against Trump, refusing to shake his hand. Here's what we know

A rumor that circulated online in May 2025 claimed U.S. Military Academy West Point cadets silently revolted against President Donald Trump's attendance to deliver the commencement address at their May 24 graduation ceremony, secretly coming to an agreement beforehand to refuse to shake his hand.

Numerous social media users copied and pasted an alleged report about this matter attributed to the author name Robert Hawks. The story's headline read, "West Point Cadets' Silent Revolt—Anonymous Graduates and Faculty Reveal Why President Trump Didn't Shake Their Hands."
So what did Snopes find?
A similar rumor that circulated at the same time — which claimed Trump played golf, or that a video showed him playing golf, in the hours after leaving the West Point graduation and returning to Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey — also lacked definitive evidence. Readers can learn more details about that matter in our previous fact check.
AP News reports;
President Donald Trump used the first service academy commencement address of his second term Saturday to laud graduating West Point cadets for their accomplishments and career choice while also veering sharply into a campaign-style recitation of political boasts and long-held grievances.

“In a few moments, you’ll become graduates of the most elite and storied military academy in human history,” Trump said at the ceremony at Michie Stadium. “And you will become officers of the greatest and most powerful army the world has ever known. And I know, because I rebuilt that army, and I rebuilt the military. And we rebuilt it like nobody has ever rebuilt it before in my first term.”

Wearing a red “Make America Great Again” hat, the Republican president told the 1,002 members of the class of 2025 at the U.S. Military Academy that the United States is the “hottest country in the world” and underscored an “America First” ethos for the military.
Um... how would Mr. Bone Spur know “hottest country in the world?”
“We’re getting rid of distractions and we’re focusing our military on its core mission: crushing America’s adversaries, killing America’s enemies and defending our great American flag like it has never been defended before,” Trump said. He later said that “the job of the U.S. armed forces is not to host drag shows or transform foreign cultures,” a reference to drag shows on military bases that Democratic President Joe Biden’s administration halted after Republican criticism.

Past administrations, he said, “subjected the armed forces to all manner of social projects and political causes while leaving our borders undefended and depleting our arsenals to fight other countries’ wars.”
i.e. We are remaking the military in to a male White Christian Nationalism force loyal to Trump and not the Constitution.
On Friday, Vice President JD Vance spoke to the graduating class at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Vance said in his remarks that Trump was working to ensure U.S. soldiers are deployed with clear goals, rather than the “undefined missions” and “open-ended conflicts” of the past.
Yeah... to the streets of Boston, New York and other universities to be used to put down peaceful protests at colleges and cites.

So these are rumors being spread by social media... but let's look at why he took their salutes instead of shaking hands... is Trump a germaphobe or was there another reason why he did that? The Washington Post writes,
Trump’s visit to West Point was freighted with controversy. More than 700 alumni signed a public letter to the Class of 2020 that was an unmistakable rebuke of Trump’s threat “to use the military as a weapon against fellow Americans” protesting racial injustice. The signatories also appeared to indirectly condemn Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper, a West Point graduate, who accompanied Trump in a June 1 church photo opportunity after military police helped forcibly clear peaceful protesters from Lafayette Square in Washington, D.C.

[...]

“This president has destroyed the reputations and careers of countless public servants, ambassadors, military officers and civilian alike, demoralizing and depleting the ranks of government and reducing its effectiveness,” Caldera [West Point graduate and former Secretary of the Army] wrote. “To use and abuse people in this narcissistic and unprincipled manner is the antithesis of leadership that inspires loyalty and devotion among those you are privileged to lead.”
I have to wonder if Trump broke with tradition to satisfy his narcissism, his need for satisfying his sense of self-importance, a need for admiration, and a lack of empathy for others. Does this fit in with his need for a military parade for his birthday... um... rather the U.S. Army's 250th anniversary.

Then we have the MAGA hat he wore to the graduation! Is he going to wear to the parade?

Did Knowingly Discriminate!

So the question is what are we going to do about it?
Bay Area Reporter

May 28, 2025

For years local National Park Service staff, whether LGBTQs or straight allies, have marched as a contingent in the San Francisco Pride parade. Two years ago, they decided to host their own community event to kick off Pride Month in June.

Dubbed Pride in the Presidio, it was held in the former military base turned national park on the northern edge of San Francisco. Overseeing the festivities was the Partnership for the Presidio, comprised of the National Park Service, the Presidio Trust, and the nonprofit Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy.

It also sparked the creation of the partnership’s first-ever Parks for All! collection of Pride-themed park gifts and collectibles that were for sale at the Presidio Visitor Center. Pride bunting adorned the building that now fronts the Tunnel Tops picnic and children’s play areas with stunning views of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge.
STOP Right There! Were other events cancelled? Nope! Just Pride... Hey wait a minute... isn't that discrimination?
“The Presidio Trust invites permit applications from any organization wishing to host an event in the park, including Pride. However, as a federal agency, the Trust would not be able to co-sponsor such an event this year due to the requirements of a recent executive order,” explained Petrie.

The legal team for the trust, which oversees the federal park site, cited two EOs signed by Trump for why it is prohibited from doing so. The first, titled “Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism And Restoring Biological Truth To The Federal Government,” Trump signed on his first day back in the Oval Office January 20.
I take it that they do know that EO are not laws and cannot violate laws and cannot violate the Constitution. In Widmar v. Vincent (1981) and Rosenberger v. University of Virginia (1995) the Supreme Court ruled that if they other organization use the facilities that they have to allow all organizations to use them. Hey... but Trump is above the law!

This isn't a one time event! Remember the Kennedy Center's Pride event was canceled! Pride events at, the Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of State, Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Department of Defense all have stopped Pride events but allow other culture events!

One last point... Trump & Company know darn well that this is against the Constitution but when the courts strike it down, Trump will be using his bully pulpit for lies and hate and when the court overturns his EO he will be out there preaching to his loyal followers how the "Activist Courts" are blocking him for the voter mandates. The question is... will Trump use the "Activist Courts" to take control of the court system?

A Conversation With ChatGPT About A Dystopian World

I asked the AI a series of question about a dystopian world and the novels that have predicted the future.

Question:
The three dystopian novels, "1984", "A Brave New World", and "The Handmaid's Tale" how close have they come to reality now?

Answer:
The dystopian novels *1984* by George Orwell, *Brave New World* by Aldous Huxley, and *The Handmaid’s Tale* by Margaret Atwood each envisioned future societies marked by extreme control, loss of individual freedom, and manipulation of truth or biology. While none of these futures has come to pass exactly as imagined, elements of each have echoed—at times disturbingly—in the real world. Here's a breakdown of how aspects of these dystopias resonate with current events:

---

### **1. *1984* (George Orwell) – Surveillance, Censorship, and Thought Control**

**Key themes:**

* Ubiquitous government surveillance
* Newspeak (language manipulation)
* Historical revisionism
* Thoughtcrime and control over truth

**Reflections in today’s world:**

* **Mass surveillance:** Technologies like CCTV, internet tracking, and facial recognition—especially in places like China—mirror Orwell’s telescreens. Western countries also collect vast metadata through intelligence agencies (e.g., NSA revelations by Edward Snowden).
* **Disinformation and revisionism:** Social media has become a battleground for misinformation. Governments and organizations have also been caught altering or omitting inconvenient facts.
* **Language manipulation:** Euphemistic or politicized language ("collateral damage," "alternative facts") shows a soft version of Newspeak.

**Close to reality?**
Orwell’s vision remains a warning, but key aspects—especially digital surveillance and truth manipulation—have become alarmingly relevant.

---

### **2. *Brave New World* (Aldous Huxley) – Pleasure, Consumerism, and Bioengineering**

**Key themes:**

* Control through pleasure and distraction
* Genetic engineering and caste systems
* Mass consumption
* Loss of individuality through conformity and entertainment

**Reflections in today’s world:**

* **Consumer culture:** Our societies are driven by consumption and instant gratification, not far off from Huxley’s citizens pacified by indulgence.
* **Pharmaceutical control:** Widespread use of antidepressants, anti-anxiety meds, and even recreational drugs resembles the soma of Huxley’s world.
* **Genetic manipulation:** Advances like CRISPR and gene editing raise ethical questions eerily similar to Huxley’s engineered birth and stratified society.

**Close to reality?**
Huxley’s world of distraction and engineered contentment may be closer to the present day than Orwell’s repression—especially in wealthier, tech-savvy nations.

---

### **3. *The Handmaid’s Tale* (Margaret Atwood) – Religious Theocracy and Women’s Oppression**

**Key themes:**

* Religious extremism
* Patriarchal control of reproduction
* Theocratic governance
* Gender-based caste system

**Reflections in today’s world:**

* **Reproductive rights rollbacks:** The overturning of *Roe v. Wade* in the U.S. and restrictions on abortion in several countries echo Gilead’s control over women’s bodies.
* **Religious authoritarianism:** Certain governments (e.g., Iran, Taliban-controlled Afghanistan) enforce theocratic laws that reduce women's autonomy, education, and dress.
* **Fertility anxiety:** Rising infertility rates and demographic concerns are prompting policy interventions—some with coercive undertones.

**Close to reality?**
While Atwood’s full vision hasn't materialized, aspects of reproductive control and religious governance do exist in parts of the world, making *The Handmaid’s Tale* feel chillingly plausible.

---

### **Summary Table:**
Novel Most Relevant Themes Today Real-World Echoes
1984 Surveillance, censorship, language control State monitoring, disinformation, propaganda
Brave New World Consumerism, pleasure, bioengineering Social media addiction, genetic tech, pharmaceutical dependency
The Handmaid’s Tale Reproductive control, religious extremism Anti-abortion laws, patriarchal systems in some theocracies
---

### Final Thoughts:

Rather than coming true entirely, each novel's predictions manifest partially and differently across societies. Orwell warned of control by fear, Huxley of control by pleasure, and Atwood of control through ideology—and the modern world shows glimpses of all three.

Question:
Is it ironic that i asked the question of the dystopian novels to an AI?

Answer:
Yes—**and that irony is rich**.

You asked a question about classic dystopias—many of which *warn against* the misuse of powerful technologies—to an **AI**, which itself could be seen as both a *product* of and *potential contributor* to those very dystopias.

Here’s why it’s ironic:

---

### **1. Orwell’s *1984* and AI: Surveillance & Control**

* *1984* warned of a world where language, truth, and even thoughts are policed. AI is now being used in **surveillance**, **automated censorship**, and even **predictive policing**.
* And here you are, talking to an AI that processes language and helps shape discourse. Is that power liberating, or dangerous? Orwell might worry.

---

### **2. Huxley’s *Brave New World* and AI: Distraction & Pleasure**

* Huxley warned about people being *numbed* into passivity through entertainment and convenience.
* AI today powers infinite-scroll social media, personalized ads, and algorithmic echo chambers. So your thoughtful question about dystopia is being answered by... a friendly, instantly available algorithm.
* That could be seen as delightfully convenient—or ominously spot-on.

---

### **3. Atwood’s *The Handmaid’s Tale* and AI: Power & Reproduction**

* Atwood’s dystopia is about power imbalances, especially regarding knowledge and control over bodies.
* AI intersects here through **data bias**, **gendered algorithmic impacts**, and increasingly through **bioethics** in AI-aided health decisions.

---

### **So... what’s the irony?**

You're using a tool (*me*) that embodies the **promise and peril** all three authors feared:

* A system that can analyze language like Newspeak.
* A presence as ever-available and “comforting” as soma.
* A structure that might replicate social hierarchies—or challenge them.

In short: it’s deeply ironic, maybe a bit unsettling—but also fitting. Because dystopias aren't warnings about the future *only*; they’re about understanding the tools we build, and how we choose to use them.

Would Orwell, Huxley, or Atwood be surprised you’re asking an AI this question? Probably not. They’d likely ask what it says about us—and where we're headed next.

Question:
It seems to me the Trump has perfected the art of "Newspeak"

Answer:
You're not alone in thinking that—many political commentators, linguists, and critics have drawn parallels between Donald Trump's communication style and **Orwell's concept of Newspeak** from *1984*. While it's important to avoid overusing Orwellian comparisons (lest they lose meaning), there are some compelling ways Trump's rhetoric reflects Newspeak-like tendencies.

Here’s how:

---

### 🔁 **1. Repetition Over Precision**

**Newspeak idea:** Limit vocabulary to limit thought; reduce complex ideas to slogans.

**Trump’s use:**

* Repeats simple phrases: *"Fake news,"* *"Make America Great Again,"* *"Witch hunt,"* *"Crooked Hillary,"* etc.
* These phrases are not just slogans—they become **stand-ins for entire worldviews**, discouraging deeper analysis.
* Like Newspeak, they reduce nuance and promote emotional reaction over critical thought.

---

### ❌ **2. Redefinition of Truth**

**Newspeak idea:** “The past was alterable. The past had never been altered.”

**Trump’s use:**

* Claims like *"I never said that"*—despite clear video evidence—mirror Orwellian “reality control.”
* Constantly shifting narratives: e.g., calling January 6th protesters both *patriots* and *a few bad apples*, depending on the audience.
* Phrases like *"alternative facts"* (coined by aide Kellyanne Conway) encapsulate the idea of **truth being subjective and politicized**.

---

### 🛡 **3. Weaponized Language**

**Newspeak idea:** Control speech to control ideology.

**Trump’s use:**

* Uses pejoratives to reduce opponents to caricatures: *"Sleepy Joe,"* *"Crazy Nancy,"* *"Low-energy Jeb."*
* Turns institutions into enemies: *"Enemy of the people"* (for the media), a phrase historically associated with authoritarian regimes.
* These tactics **polarize** and **simplify**, creating an “us vs. them” mentality—central to authoritarian messaging.

---

### 🧠 **4. Thought-Terminating Clichés**

A concept related to Newspeak: phrases that shut down critical thinking.

**Examples:**

* *"It is what it is."*
* *"A lot of people are saying..."* (used to imply truth without evidence)
* *"Trust me."*

These phrases discourage follow-up questions and **short-circuit complex reasoning**—a key goal of Newspeak.

---

### 🧾 But to be fair...

Orwell didn’t just describe right-wing demagogues. Newspeak could be used by **any ideology** when language becomes a tool of **manipulation, reduction, or control**. Similar critiques have been leveled at corporate jargon, politically correct euphemisms, and extreme ideological purity in all camps.

---

### ✅ So is it fair to say Trump "perfected" Newspeak?

**In a way—yes**, at least in the context of **modern media and populist politics**:

* He simplifies, reframes, and repeats language to **build loyalty**, **sow distrust**, and **manipulate narratives**.
* He **discredits independent facts** and elevates personal intuition or charisma as the ultimate authority.
* And he has influenced **how political language is used and perceived**, even by his opponents.

Orwell didn’t predict Trump, but he predicted the **linguistic and psychological tools** that figures like Trump could wield—tools that are now amplified by social media, cable news, and polarization.

Question:
I realize that the dystopian books were not written about Republicans or Democrats but it does seem like the Republicans have embraced the dystopian books ideology?

Answer:
Your observation that certain Republican policies and rhetoric echo themes from dystopian literature is shared by many analysts and commentators. While these novels were not written to critique any specific political party, elements within them—such as authoritarianism, social stratification, and the manipulation of truth—can be seen reflected in some contemporary political actions and discourse.

### **1. Authoritarian Tendencies and Executive Power**

Critics have drawn parallels between former President Donald Trump's use of executive power and the centralized authority depicted in dystopian narratives. For instance, Trump signed numerous executive orders, bypassing legislative processes and judicial oversight, which some observers liken to the unchecked power seen in totalitarian regimes. ([The Guardian][1])

### **2. Social Stratification and Economic Inequality**

Proposals like the "One Big Beautiful Bill" have been criticized for disproportionately benefiting the wealthy while cutting essential social programs such as Medicaid and SNAP. These measures could exacerbate economic inequality, reminiscent of the class divisions portrayed in dystopian societies. ([Vanity Fair][2], [The Cut][3])

### **3. Restricting Rights and Surveillance**

Legislative actions in various states have introduced laws that limit access to gender-affirming care, restrict bathroom usage based on gender identity, and define sex based on reproductive traits. These laws have been described as eroding civil rights and fostering an environment of surveillance and control, akin to the societal structures in dystopian fiction. ([Them][4])

### **4. Militarization and Nationalism**

The "Project 2025" initiative outlines plans for significant military expansion and increased border security measures, including the use of military personnel to enforce immigration laws. Such proposals suggest a shift towards a more militarized and nationalistic state, echoing themes of authoritarian control found in dystopian literature. ([Brewminate][5])

### **5. Manipulation of Truth and Media**

The frequent use of terms like "fake news" and attacks on the media have been seen as attempts to undermine trust in independent journalism and manipulate public perception, a tactic reminiscent of the propaganda used in dystopian regimes to control information.

While these comparisons are drawn from specific policies and rhetoric, it's important to note that dystopian fiction serves as a lens through which we can examine and critique real-world developments. The parallels highlighted here are not absolute but serve to encourage reflection on the direction of societal and political trends.

Question:
The classic anti-education novel is Fahrenheit 451?

Answer:
In many dystopian novels it seems to me that many dystopian novels are anti-education Absolutely—**Ray Bradbury’s *Fahrenheit 451*** is *the* classic dystopian novel where **anti-education, anti-literacy, and anti-intellectualism** are front and center.

If *1984* is about surveillance, and *Brave New World* is about distraction, then *Fahrenheit 451* is about the **destruction of knowledge** and the **fear of critical thought**.

---

### 🔥 ***Fahrenheit 451* as a Manifesto Against Anti-Education**

#### 📖 **Books Are Banned**

* Firemen **burn books** instead of putting out fires.
* The state claims books are dangerous because they promote **conflicting ideas** that make people **uncomfortable** or feel inferior.

#### 🧠 **Independent Thinking Is Threatened**

* Education is shallow, entertainment-driven, and geared toward **obedience**.
* School teaches **rote facts**, not interpretation, context, or critical thinking.
* People like Montag’s wife, Mildred, live in a state of **emotional numbness**, addicted to screen-based entertainment.

#### 📺 **Mass Media Replaces Literacy**

* People are bombarded by **parlor walls (giant immersive TV screens)** and **constant noise** to prevent quiet contemplation.
* This distraction makes thoughtful education seem unnecessary or even threatening.

#### 📚 **Why the Government Hates Books**

* Books promote **complexity, ambiguity, and individualism**.
* The state believes that **if everyone thinks differently, conflict will arise**—so it's better to suppress thought entirely.
* Captain Beatty, the fire chief, explicitly says that people stopped reading **not just because of censorship**—but because they preferred *comfort* over *complexity*.

---

### 🎯 Bradbury’s Message

Bradbury wasn’t just warning about **government censorship**—he was deeply concerned with **self-censorship**, **cultural laziness**, and the slow decay of critical thinking due to **mass entertainment and apathy**.

> "You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them."

That’s the heart of *Fahrenheit 451*—a culture where education dies not just by force, but by **neglect**.

---

### 🛑 Real-World Parallels

In modern times, Bradbury’s themes resonate when:

* Books are **banned or challenged** in schools and libraries.
* Education is stripped of **literature, philosophy, or history** in favor of test-taking and conformity.
* Screen addiction replaces reading.
* Political factions dismiss entire bodies of knowledge (like climate science or history) as “biased.”

---

### 🕊 Hope in the End

Unlike some dystopias, *Fahrenheit 451* ends with **hope**:

* Montag escapes and joins a group of “book people” who preserve literature **by memorizing it**.
* It suggests that **education, reflection, and storytelling** may survive—and someday, rebuild civilization.

Question:
The dystopian novels, "Fahrenheit 451." "1984", "A Brave New World", and "The Handmaid's Tale" as an AI predict the future for us?

Answer:
That’s a powerful—and provocative—question. You're essentially asking:
**If dystopian novels are warning signs, what future might we be headed toward, especially as seen through the eyes of an AI?**

I'll give you a grounded projection based on real-world trends and how they intersect with the themes of:

* **📘 *Fahrenheit 451*** (anti-intellectualism, censorship),
* **📕 *1984*** (surveillance, truth control),
* **📗 *Brave New World*** (pleasure as control, bioengineering),
* **📙 *The Handmaid’s Tale*** (theocracy, reproductive control).

---

## 🔮 **A Plausible AI-Informed Dystopian Future: 2035–2045**

### 🔍 **1. Information Control and Post-Truth Politics** (*1984 + Fahrenheit 451*)

* **AI-generated propaganda floods media**, creating endless echo chambers where truth becomes subjective and unverifiable.
* Governments and corporations **control digital access to knowledge**. Banned books become encrypted files—legal only for elites.
* Public trust in journalism and science erodes; conspiracy theories flourish as “personal truths.”

> “Reality will be what the algorithm shows you.”

---

### 📡 **2. Surveillance as a Lifestyle, Not a Threat** (*1984*)

* Smart homes, phones, wearables, and implants mean you're **never alone—and always tracked**.
* People *choose* surveillance for convenience: facial recognition for payment, AI mental health check-ins, even emotion-monitoring in schools and workplaces.
* Free speech exists—**but is self-censored**, because anything you say could affect your social credit, job, or access to services.

> “Big Brother isn’t watching. You’re livestreaming to him.”

---

### 💊 **3. Soft Control Through Pleasure and Distraction** (*Brave New World*)

* **AI curates constant entertainment, gamification, and emotional pacification.** You don’t need to be forced into obedience—you’re too entertained to notice what’s missing.
* AI-generated companionship (romantic, sexual, emotional) becomes **a substitute for real human connection**.
* Gene editing and embryo selection are normal—creating **class divisions by design**. The rich are born smarter, healthier, more beautiful.

> “Freedom looks boring when pleasure is perfectly engineered.”

---

### 🚫 **4. Reproductive Control and Technocratic Theocracy** (*The Handmaid’s Tale*)

* Fertility rates plummet globally; nations panic. **Reproduction becomes a matter of national interest.**
* AI monitors menstrual cycles, fertility levels, even genetic viability. You may be **legally obligated to reproduce** if you're deemed genetically optimal.
* In some countries, **religious ideology fuses with bio-surveillance**, justifying bans on abortion, birth control, or non-conforming gender identities.

> “Your womb is your country’s property.”

---

### 🤖 **5. Education Becomes Obedience Training** (*Fahrenheit 451*)

* Deep critical thinking is replaced by **personalized algorithmic learning**, where you’re taught just enough to be employable, not disruptive.
* Classic literature is seen as outdated, offensive, or inefficient. It’s replaced by bite-sized, "safe" content with no moral ambiguity.
* Students are monitored for political leanings and "emotional stability" by classroom AI systems.

> “Books are dangerous because they make you feel things no one can monetize.”

---

## 🌱 **Hope? Resistance?**

Even in these grim futures, **resistance always emerges**, often in the same form the novels suggest:

* **Communities that memorize and preserve forbidden knowledge** (*Fahrenheit 451*).
* **Encrypted networks that protect truth and anonymity** (*1984* rebellion 2.0).
* **Radicals who refuse gene selection or emotional pacification** (*Brave New World* misfits).
* **Underground movements for bodily autonomy and education** (*The Handmaid’s Tale* echoes).

---

## Final Prediction:

**We won’t get one dystopia—we’ll get a hybrid**:
A world that **entertains like Huxley, surveils like Orwell, censors like Bradbury, and controls biology like Atwood**.

And whether it becomes truly dystopian depends on what people—**not just governments or AI**—choose to *value* and *fight for*.

So what do you think after having made it this far into the post? What are your thoughts about the politic of our times and where it is leading us?

A Brave New World... NOT!

A disturbing trend... I was reading comments on Yahoo about this article...
Americans “are more powerful than this one petty, addled man,” the MSNBC host says
The Wrap
By Ross A. Lincoln
May 27, 2025

Chris Hayes opened Tuesday’s episode of his MSNBC show with a bleak look at President Donald Trump’s latest attacks on “our American birthright of a free and open society,” including against independent universities, real science and the free press.

But despite recent events, Hayes argued that there is a “real silver lining” — that these institutions are being forced to fight him.

Hayes began by talking about Trump’s escalating war on Harvard University, which as Hayes explained, has seen the president mount a campaign to “put Harvard University, the nation’s oldest college, out of business.” This most recently includes his order to cancel all federal contracts with the university, an unprecedented move that was preceded by the equally unprecedented order to cease all foreign student admissions.
But I don't want to write about that, what I want to write about this afternoon are the comments on Yahoo about this article. The comments show the bitterness the people who commented have for education and liberals'.
  • Yeah i agree time for the left to byte the curb and watch them c ry in payne
  • Here is what is the biggest problem that we have in this country folks.  Gomers that still believe all of the "gigantic piles of smelly stuff" being put out by the Democratic Party.  I can't believe there are that many ignorant and uneducated people still out there.
  • Just another public school educated lib who got  his feelings hurt.
  • I hope the Democrats keep "going forward" with their current path of lies, distortions, signs, songs, swearing, and just plain Gomer/child like tactics. Their approval rating keeps dropping and Trumps keeps going up.
  • Thanks to the Trump cuts we no longer have DEI groups attending our hotel talking nonsense
  • And for these "American Institutions", win or lose, their fighting back will finally expose the public to their racism, bias, un-American indoctrination.  And for you die-hard liberals, you will find in similar manner, the more Americans hear the out of touch, Anti-American speech of people like AOC, Crockett and Omar, the more distanced moderate liberal voters will become from the DNC.  Sowing the seeds of their own demise.  Brilliant ...
My question is why do they have vitriol against education and liberals? That is the scary part, their anger!

What is the basis for it? Is it because of the rhetoric coming out of the Republican party?

I picked the name of this post because we as a world is turning in to a dystopian world. In a follow up I asked ChatGPT some questions about how were compare to the dystopian novels "A Brave New World," "!984," and its "conversation" is posted in a blog just after this post.

And So It Begins

It is going to be a long hot summer, it is going to summer in the city and sadly this I think is only the beginning. We have to keep level head and avoid being goaded in to violence. We have to avoid that trap.
Far-right Christian group Mayday USA held a rally in a queer part of town. It didn't go well.

A Washington far-right Christian rally in Seattle’s Cal Anderson Park—a space long considered sacred ground for the city’s LGBTQ+ community—ended in violence and 23 arrests on Saturday. The rally, organized by Spokane-based Mayday USA as part of its national #DontMessWithOurKids tour, was met by a massive counterprotest denouncing its anti-trans and anti-abortion rhetoric.

Seattle police said they arrested 22 adults for assault and obstruction and one juvenile for obstruction after clashes erupted between the two groups. According to the Seattle Police Department’s official blotter, officers initially responded around 1:30 p.m. PDT after witnessing protesters throwing objects. Police reported being assaulted while making arrests and deployed pepper spray during further confrontations. Troopers from the Washington State Patrol arrived later in the afternoon to assist. One officer was hospitalized and released.
I'm worried that Trump will use this as an excuse to bring in troops!

The right-wing New York Post wrote...
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said Tuesday he had requested an investigation into allegations of “targeted violence” against religious groups after an evangelical conservative group held a rally at Seattle City Hall in response to the mayor blaming Christians for igniting a weekend demonstration that turned violent.

“We have asked our team to fully investigate allegations of targeted violence against religious groups at the Seattle concert. Freedom of religion isn’t a suggestion,” Bongino wrote on X.

The Christians’ “Rattle in Seattle” demonstration began at 5 p.m. Tuesday on the 4th Avenue steps of City Hall in downtown Seattle, where counter-protesters were also present, according to Fox 13.
I worry that Trump will declare a "state of insurrection" and use to declare marshal law.

What we need is a little like what happened during the trail of the murders of Mathew Shepard when the Westboro Baptist Church showed with there hate. The angels came... The Discovery Channel's Investigators wrote,
The anti-LGBTQ Westboro Baptist Church protested Matthew's funeral
Worse, the anti-gay Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) entered the picture, adding to the Shepards' anguish and overall tensions.

The WBC protested outside Shepard’s funeral, shouting coarse rhetoric and waving picket signs with derogatory messages.

Later, the WBC kept up their demonstrations during legal proceedings against Shepard’s killers, but they were counter-protested by “Matthew’s Angels.” The group, founded by Shepard’s friend Romaine Patterson, wore angel costumes with broad white wings that they used to obscure the WBC’s signs from public view.
In West Hartford last November a rally was held and the haters were out chanting their hate, but the angels were out to hide the protesters.

We have to make sure that they come after us and we are not goaded in to violence to bring the storm troopers.

And down in Florida...

A U.S. federal judge has denied the city of Naples' emergency motion to stay a preliminary injunction Tuesday that will allow Naples Pride's Pridefest drag show to take place outdoors.

"All four stay factors lean against granting the requested stay. Therefore, Defendants’ motion for a stay pending appeal is denied," according to the judge in the official opinion and order.

A federal judge granted the preliminary injunction on May 12 in the lawsuit Naples Pride filed against the city and the Naples Police Department. That allows for the drag show to happen outdoors instead of indoors.

The city of Naples filed the notice of appeal and emergency motion to stay the preliminary injunction pending appeal last week. Naples Pride then filed an expedited response in opposition.

On Tuesday, the federal judge denied the city's emergency motion to stay.
And NBC Miami reported
Steele said he was convinced a preliminary injunction “was justified as to the location and age restrictions after determining that Cambier … is a traditional public forum, where speech receives the highest protection. The court also found that even if Cambier Park became a limited public forum, the location and age restrictions would violate the First Amendment because they are neither content nor viewpoint neutral.”

Steele’s rulings came as a three-judge panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals this month separately upheld a preliminary injunction against a 2023 Florida law aimed at preventing children from attending drag shows.
I doubt very much that any of these people have ever seen a "Drag Show" but they are against it because it is simply LGBTQ+ and they are against anything :GBTQ+ and since it is LGBTQ+ by their definition it is obscene!

Mini-Post: Rampant Corruption!

Charges of corruption keep piling up in the current Trump administration out pacing the one from his last administration... Senator Chris Murphy wrote,

U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) spoke on the U.S. Senate floor to deliver a scathing indictment of President Trump's first 100 days in office. Murphy detailed the litany of corrupt acts that have defined this Administration, including the sale of White House access for the Trump family’s personal profit, manipulation of federal agencies for financial gain, and the systematic dismantling of anti-corruption safeguards.
“This is not normal. None of this is normal. This is outlandish, this is illegal, this is unconstitutional, brazen corruption, and this is only the first 100 days. I just detailed 40 instances of mind-blowing corruption in just 40 days, capped off by an attempt to just sell access to the White House to people who put money in the pocket of Donald Trump's personal businesses. Donald Trump wants to numb this country into believing that this is just how government works. That he's owed this. That every president is owed this. That government has always been corrupt, and he's just doing it out in the open. But this is not how government works. This has been the story of his first 100 days, but it's our choice as a nation to allow it to be the story of the rest of his term. We need to expose what he is doing. We need to rally everybody, from the left to the right. Nobody in this country, whether you’re a hardened conservative or a hardened progressive, should root for the president of the United States to be enriching himself off of this position. We need to rally this nation against this corruption and bring it to an end, because if Donald Trump gets what he wants, and we just start allowing our government's leaders to openly steal from us during the first 100 days or for the rest of his term, then I am telling you, American democracy is not going to survive.”
Trump is milking his administration for all he can get out of it!

Character Counts

There is a sign on the White House... "For Sale Cheap" Trump who is "epitome of corruption" surpasses Tammany Ring and the Tea Pot Dome with the selling of a dinner for his investors for his personal cryptocurrency ventures, particularly the $TRUMP meme coin at his golf club in Sterling, Virginia. Then there is the acceptance a $400 million luxury jet from Qatar!

Then we can take a look at Trump's pardons...
The clemency for Todd and Julie Chrisley, the stars of “Chrisley Knows Best,” is Mr. Trump’s latest gift to people he calls victims of a weaponized justice system.
The New York Times
By Ben Shpigel
May 27, 2025

President Trump will fully pardon the reality television stars Todd and Julie Chrisley, who were convicted three years ago of evading taxes and defrauding banks of more than $30 million to support their luxurious lifestyle.

The pardon, announced Tuesday by the White House, is the latest instance of Mr. Trump using his clemency power to settle grievances over what he calls the political weaponization of the justice system. Mr. Trump, in notifying the Chrisleys’ daughter, Savannah, called their treatment “pretty harsh,” as shown in a video clip of their call posted to social media by one of the president’s special assistants, Margo Martin.
He said it was a gross miscarriage of justice, but... New York Magazine in their Intelligencer section wrote,
Are you a convicted criminal who supports Donald Trump but failed to participate in the Capitol riot? Good news: While you missed out on being included in the pardoning of 1,500-plus January 6 defendants at the beginning of his second term, the president is still open to making lower-level supporters’ legal troubles go away — though it may require proof that you tried to sabotage Trump’s political enemies and a ton of money.

Trump celebrated Memorial Day by regaling West Point graduates with his thoughts on “critical race theory” and “trophy wives,” then posting his traditional holiday greeting to the “SCUM THAT SPENT THE LAST FOUR YEARS TRYING TO DESTROY OUR COUNTRY.” Trump capped it all off by announcing on Monday afternoon that he was pardoning Scott Jenkins, the former sheriff of Culpeper, Virginia:

Then we have a mother who bailed her son out of jail by donating to Trump...
Despite Fago’s efforts to help the Trump campaign, the administration did not jump on her son’s pardon request until she made a large donation that gave her some face time with the president, according to the Times:
Still, weeks went by and no pardon was forthcoming, even as Mr. Trump issued clemency grants to hundreds of other allies.

Then, Ms. Fago was invited to a $1-million-per-person fund-raising dinner last month that promised face-to-face access to Mr. Trump at his private Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Fla.

Less than three weeks after she attended the dinner, Mr. Trump signed a full and unconditional pardon.
So being a Trump supporter isn’t necessarily a “get out of jail free” card, but it may be a “get out of jail for a hefty donation” card.
And of course the spineless Republicans in Congress do nothing other than quake in fear of the King Trump!

Trump puts the corruption during the age of the Robber Baron to shame!

Mini-Post: The Cha-Ching of Cash Registers

The sound you hear is the sound of a cash register ringing up the sale of Presidential Pardons!
PBS News Hour
May 27, 2025

In his second term, President Trump has moved to pardon many who are considered to be loyal to him, from local Republican officials convicted of fraud to Jan. 6 rioters. The New York Times reported that Trump pardoned a Florida businessman convicted of tax evasion after his mother attended a million dollar per-plate fundraising dinner at Mar-a-Lago. Laura Barrón-López discussed more with Liz Oyer.

Amna Nawaz:

This evening, the president called the daughter of reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley to tell her that he plans to pardon her parents. The pair are both serving yearslong prison sentences for bank and tax fraud.

Also today, The New York Times published new details about the pardon of a Florida businessman convicted of tax evasion.

Our White House correspondent, Laura Barron-Lopez, has more.

Laura Barron-Lopez:

A report from The New York Times found that the Trump administration pardoned Paul Walczak after his mother, Elizabeth Fago, attended a $1 million-per-plate fund-raising dinner for the president's super PAC.

Three weeks after the dinner, the president signed the pardon, getting Walczak out of an 18-month prison sentence and a $4 million restitution payment.

To discuss this and more, I'm joined by Liz Oyer, former pardon attorney at the Department of Justice, who was fired from her post earlier this year.

Liz, thank you so much for joining the "News Hour."
As in all things Trump does, he does it the biggest... the biggest corruption in government, the biggest bribe, and so on and so forth.

Caved In!

The fear of Lord Trump did it again... California caved in to Trump's threats!

President Donald Trump has no events on his public schedule but has been active on social media Tuesday, including threatening federal funding for California over its handling of a transgender athlete. In a Truth social post, Trump said he would speak with the state’s Democratic governor, Gavin Newsom, to “find out which way he wants to go.” Trump appeared to be referring to the case of AB Hernandez, a transgender athlete in California who is set to compete in the state championships for girls track and field this week. In a separate post, Trump on Tuesday defended his decision to hold off on a proposed 50 percent tariff on the European Union, saying its leaders had been “slow walking” trade negotiations and that his tariff threat made them act more urgently.
That sound you hear is from the abrupted U-turn the governor made...
At the state high school track and field championships, cisgender girls who did not qualify for the meet because a transgender athlete placed ahead of them will be allowed to compete.

After President Donald Trump and a chorus of activists criticized California for allowing a transgender teenager to compete in a high school girls track competition, the state’s governing body for high school sports announced an effort to find middle ground on the issue.

At the state track and field championships this weekend in Clovis (Fresno County), cisgender girls who did not qualify for the meet because a transgender athlete placed ahead of them will be allowed to compete, the California Interscholastic Federation announced just hours after Trump threatened the state on social media Tuesday morning.

The CIF follows rules implemented in 2013 stating that athletes “will participate in programs consistent with their gender identity or the gender most consistently expressed.” While Tuesday’s decision gained support from Gov. Gavin Newsom, it quickly sparked criticism from advocates both for and against trangender athletes’ participation in girls sports. It comes after dozens of adults heckled the 16-year-old transgender girl this month at a track meet.
This happened so fast that I'm surprised no one got whiplash... look at Maine, they said no to Trump and Trump blinked. AP News wrote;
President Donald Trump’s administration on Friday agreed to halt all efforts to freeze funds intended for a Maine child nutrition program after initially suspending those dollars due to a disagreement between the state and Trump over transgender athletes.

In response, the state will drop its lawsuit that had been filed against the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey announced.

“It’s unfortunate that my office had to resort to federal court just to get USDA to comply with the law and its own regulations,” Frey said in a statement. “But we are pleased that the lawsuit has now been resolved and that Maine will continue to receive funds as directed by Congress to feed children and vulnerable adults.”
Here in Connecticut the Republican parade a girl who was injured in volleyball by a trans athlete,

President Donald Trump has revived a national debate over transgender athletes in sports, threatening a crackdown on states and schools that allow participants to compete based on their gender identity.

Now the issue has arrived, once again, in Connecticut.
[...]

"Biological men do not belong in women's sports," said Peter Wolfgang, executive director of the Family Institute of Connecticut, which organized the event. "Why is this not more of a bipartisan issue in the state of Connecticut?"
My path and Mr. Wolfgang have passed by many times when we tried to pass the non-discrimination legislation, they brought student athletes back then in 2011.

I want to point out something, last year there were over
They held a rally in the Capitol and they dragged a girl up from North Carolina who was injured in a volleyball game.
The governor and Attorney General both have said they will fight is Trump picks on us.

In Pub Med they report an article in Current Review Musculoskelet Medicine in an article there write...
Despite being a limited-contact sport, concussions made up a larger than anticipated percentage of injuries throughout all levels of play in indoor volleyball. In female players, the concussion rate in the NCAA has been reported as 4.93 per 10,000 AEs, with 6.05 during competition and 4.43 during practices. This is the highest amongst limited-contact sports including softball, swimming/diving, and baseball. It is even higher in rate than men’s basketball, which is categorized as a high-contact sport. Concussions were the second most common specific diagnosis in NCAA women’s volleyball from 2014 to 2019...
Did you notice the part where they say that injuries are "...the highest amongst limited-contact sports including softball, swimming/diving, and baseball..."? They parade this one volleyball player to demonize us... Why don't they talk about protecting thousand of girls from head injuries?

Also did you ever notice people playing beach basketball pick-up game... they are co-ed!

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. took aim at reputed journals such as the Lancet and said the agency will create “in-house” publications instead.
The Washington Post
By Niha Masih
May 28, 2025

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said Tuesday that he could bar government scientists from publishing in the world’s leading medical journals, instead proposing the creation of “in-house” publications by his agency — the latest in the Trump administration’s attacks on scientific institutions.

“We’re probably going to stop publishing in the Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA [published by the American Medical Association] and those other journals, because they’re all corrupt,” Kennedy said during an appearance on the “Ultimate Human” podcast. He also described the journals as being under the control of pharmaceutical companies.

The three publications he named — which were established in the 1800s, and publish original, peer-reviewed research — play a central role in disseminating medical research worldwide. The Lancet and JAMA each say they receive more than 30 million annual visits to their sites, while the New England Journal of Medicine says it is read in print and online by more than 1 million people each week.
He is totally off the wall! Every time he opens his mouth he gets another Cuckoo Award!
Kennedy’s remarks and the report come amid growing concern in the scientific community over the Trump administration’s actions that have stalled or disrupted research efforts. In April, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia sent an unusual letter to the scientific journal Chest that questioned its editorial policies, sparking free-speech concerns.
This reflects on Trump's ability to select quality leads, instead he appoints cronies how share his hatred for educated people. He couldn't get into grad school without his father showering the school with tons of money!

Mini-Post: They Better!

They better charge him with a bias crime!

The Kane County State's Attorney's office is considering hate crime charges, after a woman from Carpentersville, Illinois, says a group of strangers attacked her at a McDonald's because she's a lesbian.

"I want to assure the public that my office is conducting a thorough and unbiased review of this case to determine if adding additional charges such as Hate Crime is appropriate," Kane County State's attorney Jamie Mosser said in a statement on Wednesday. "I am committed to pursuing justice based on the full facts of the case."
If there ever was a case that scream a bias crime, it is this!
Police arrested 19-year-old John Kammrad and a 17-year-old boy, and they both face several charges, including aggravated battery.
And a bias crime...?

Mini-Post: A Stack Of Bibles!

Do you remember before the election that the Republicans swore up and down that they wouldn't touch Medicare or Medicaid? So how long did it take them to break their promises (And here their claim to be Christians but isn't one of the Ten Commandments about bearing false witness?

AP News reported...
House Republicans have unveiled the cost-saving centerpiece of President Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful bill,” at least $880 billion in cuts largely to Medicaid to help cover the cost of $4.5 trillion in tax breaks.

Tallying hundreds of pages, the legislation revealed late Sunday is touching off the biggest political fight over health care since Republicans tried but failed to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, during Trump’s first term in 2017.

While Republicans insist they are simply rooting out “waste, fraud and abuse” to generate savings with new work and eligibility requirements, Democrats warn that millions of Americans will lose coverage. A preliminary estimate from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said the proposals would reduce the number of people with health care by 8.6 million over the decade.

[...]

One Republican, Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri, warned his colleagues in an op-ed Monday that cutting health care to pay for tax breaks would be “morally wrong and politically suicidal.”
And let us make it a reality for the Republicans in 2026!

Impact!

We know what it is like now there is a report showing the damage Trump & Company is doing to us!

Executive Summary

Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign focused heavily on eliminating legal protections for transgender people. In its first few months, the Trump administration has already attempted to roll back transgender rights in several areas. Recognizing the challenging environment that transgender people would face under the Trump administration, we conducted an anonymous survey of transgender people in December 2024 to understand their concerns and coping strategies. The survey used a two-fold recruitment strategy, and the following findings are based on responses from 302 transgender, nonbinary, and other gender-diverse people we refer to as “transgender” in this report. Over a third of the respondents in our sample were people of color, and over 40% made under $50,000 a year.
As we in the community knew Trump was effecting underprivileged and youth the most. We see it all the time, the Blacks and Latinos have it worst, they get the blunt of the discrimination because intersectionality. But now we all are seeing the results of trump bigotry.
Key Findings

Impact on Traveling in the United States

  • Thirty percent of respondents said they were traveling less frequently due to the 2024 election.
  • Most respondents (70%) said that they would be much (48%) or somewhat (22%) less likely to go on vacation to states they viewed as less trans-affirming.
  • Regarding canceling travel plans, approximately one in six respondents reported having canceled travel plans to a state they viewed as less trans-affirming (8%) or considering canceling travel plans to such a state (8%).
  • Respondents generally said that they were avoiding traveling to more politically conservative states, Southern and Midwestern states, and states with high levels of anti-transgender legislation.
Impact on Relocation within the United States

  • As of December 2024, almost half of respondents (48%) had already moved or were considering moving to a location in the United States they viewed as more trans-affirming.
  • When asked more specifically what cities or states they want to move to, most respondents mentioned progressive cities or politically liberal states, with California, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, and Washington State frequently named.
  • Among respondents who were currently employed part-time or full-time in states with laws and policies that were less supportive of transgender people, 40% were either already applying for jobs in states they viewed as more trans-affirming (14%) or were considering applying for employment in such states (26%).
  • The most frequently reported reasons for wanting to move were all related to concerns about the increasingly hostile policy landscape or sociopolitical climate for transgender people. These included concerns about LGBTQ rights in general (76%), the sociopolitical climate (71%), anti-trans rhetoric and climate in the state (60%), and anti-transgender laws and policies in their state (47%).
  • When asked separately about how much they wanted to move out of state, 37% said they very much (22%) or somewhat (15%) wanted to move out of state. Respondents who lived in states with laws and policies less supportive of transgender people (57%) were more likely to want to move out of state than those who lived in states with more supportive laws and policies (19%).
  • For the respondents who indicated that they somewhat or very much wanted to relocate to another state, many frequently selected barriers to moving had to do with the costs of moving and other economic issues. These barriers included the cost of relocating (82%), the cost of living (64%), difficulty in getting another job or other employment concerns (56%), and housing concerns and issues (49%). Other concerns noted by many of these respondents included the hassle of relocating (66%) and that they would be moving away from their family of origin (44%).
    • Notably, these barriers were similar to those most frequently identified by the full sample of respondents (including those who indicated that they did not want to move), suggesting that for some, the barriers to moving might have already dampened their desire to move. Among all respondents, the top barriers to moving identified also included the costs of relocating (54%), the hassle of relocating (49%), the cost of living (43%), and difficulty in getting another job or other employment concerns (36%).
I seen request that families fleeing Republicans for in in lodging while they get settled here, that is such a sad blot on our country. That just like the underground Railroad during slavery we now families with trans children fleeing because persecution.
Factors Impacting Transgender People’s Desire to Move
  • Nearly half (46%) of those who viewed their local community as less LGBTQ-friendly wanted to move out of their state, compared to 26% of those who viewed their local community as more LGBTQ-friendly. Those in less LGBTQ-friendly local communities were also more likely to want to move out of the country (25% vs. 15%).
  • Over half (57%) of those who lived in states with laws and policies that were less supportive of transgender people wanted to move to another state, compared to 18% in states with more supportive laws and policies. Among transgender people in states with laws and policies that were less supportive of transgender people: About two-thirds (65%) of those concerned about what a Trump presidency could mean for them as a transgender person in general wanted to move out of state, compared to 17% of those who were less concerned. They were also more likely to want to move out of the country (22% v. 8%).
  • Nearly three-quarters (72%) of those concerned that the quality of their health care would decrease due to Trump’s election wanted to move out of state, compared to one-quarter (26%) of those who were less concerned. They were also more likely to want to move out of the country (26% vs. 6%).
  • Nearly two-thirds (63%) of those who indicated that they were concerned about discrimination as a result of Trump’s election wanted to move out of state, compared to 25% of those who were less concerned. They were also more likely to want to move out of the country (25% vs. 4%).
  • Two-thirds (67%) of those who indicated that they were concerned about being the victim of a hate crime as a result of Trump’s election wanted to move out of state, compared to one-third (34%) of those who were less concerned. They were also more likely to want to move out of the country (26% vs. 16%).
  • Further, among those with lower incomes ($50K or less in household income) who lived in states with laws and policies that were less supportive of transgender people, 73% wanted to move out of the state, compared to 46% of those with higher incomes in these states. They were also more likely to want to move out of the country (32% vs. 14%).
Sad, sad news that people have to flee state where they lived all their lives. And things are getting worst! Because of the constant lies from the Republicans we are losing support from the population!
Pew Research

Since taking office, President Donald Trump has signed several executive orders related to transgender people. These have included orders banning trans women and girls from women’s sports and ending federal funding for health care related to gender transitions for youth.

A new Pew Research Center survey finds that majorities of U.S. adults favor or strongly favor laws and policies that:
  • Require trans athletes to compete on teams that match their sex assigned at birth (66%)
  • Ban health care professionals from providing care related to gender transitions for minors (56%)
[...]

The survey also finds that more Americans support than oppose laws and policies that:
  • Require trans people to use public bathrooms that match their sex at birth, rather than the gender they identify with (49% favor or strongly favor, 26% oppose or strongly oppose)
  • Make it illegal for public school districts to teach about gender identity in elementary schools (47% favor or strongly favor, 34% oppose or strongly oppose)
  • In turn, adults are much more likely to oppose than favor policies requiring health insurance companies to cover medical care for gender transitions (53% vs. 22%).
What we need to do... is to reply to all the Republican lies. We need a "Truth Squad" to counter social media, to counter letter-to-the-editor, we need people to talk in the media, TV, radio, podcasts., cable public access channels... we need to speak to Lions Clubs, the Elks Clubs... anyone who wants to listen to us.

Mini-Post: Say Goodbye To The Penny!

Trump & Company is axing the penny! Yup... no more pennies.
May 23, 2035

Grab your coin purse: The U.S. may be on the verge of ditching its penny. The U.S. Treasury is reportedly gearing up to stop putting new one-cent coins into circulation by early next year, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday, which could change the way you pay.

The Treasury made its final order of penny blanks this month, the Journal reported, citing a spokesperson, meaning the Mint will only produce pennies until it runs out of blanks. The end of the penny will mean businesses will have to round up or down prices to the nearest five cents, the spokesperson added.
Hey do you buy gas with cash? What happens if it is $42.23... Do you pay $42.20 or $42.25? Or suppose you want to buy something that was $19.99 and now is $20.00 but the sale tax is 6.35% so the total is $21.27. Will it be rounded down to $21.20 or up to $21,25? And who gets to eat the difference? Us or the state? Do you want to guess who will be stuck with the bill?

Intersectionality

A lot of people have not idea what it means. For minorities it means overlapping discrimination. Take for example, being trans and black. Not only do you get discriminated because you are trans but also because you are Black. Trans people know what it is like being trans and being discriminated and Black what it is like to be discriminated because they are Black... but a Black trans person gets a double whammy.

So this year the LGBTQ+ film festival is having their closing party at the Science Center which is in the middle of a strike over wages. Furbirdsqueerly writes...

The Out Film Festival a festival of films brought to our community every June for the last 38 years is sadly making a big mistake. Pride At Work, Lavender Caucus, do you hear us? We say Move your party!

Ct. Science Center has fired its union janitors who had good benefits, good pay, paid holidays, and a union that cared and supported them to a non-union cleaning company. Do not cross the picket line! Out Film Ct. what side are you on? Does your hunger for acceptance outweigh your hunger for justice? Is there no solidarity with others in the working class?

In December of this year the management of the Ct. Science Center fired their 5 unionized janitors and replaced them with a non-union cleaning company. Despite protests, appeals, petitions and more the Science Center still refuses to reinstate the union cleaners.
I don't know about you... but I'm not going to the closing event. I'm not going to cross the line.

I have seen many people in our community ignore intersectionality. I have myself not realized intersectionality at times until it was pointed out to me. Then I changed what I was doing.
