Signs for a future LGBTQ-friendly senior housing facility that is currently under construction in Boston have been vandalized with hateful messages.

Banners hung around the construction site for The Pryde, a 74-unit housing development that will be inside the former William Barton Rogers Middle School in Hyde Park, were spray-painted with vulgar and threatening messages.

The messages included: "We will burn this," "(They) will die by fire" and "Die slow."

Boston police confirmed to NewsCenter 5 that they received a report of vandalism at the Everett Street site shorty before 11:45 a.m. Sunday.

As I wrote yesterday about hate crimes this is a hate crime, one it was vandalism and two they threaten violence so it is definitely a hate crime.

“It breaks my heart to see these ugly threats targeting a project — and a community — of such importance to our city," Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden said in a statement. "This is the second straight weekend of Boston being marred by hatred and intolerance. This cannot stand. My office will prosecute threats to the LGBTQ+ community wherever and whenever they occur.”

These thugs have been embolden by politicians who are pushing hate as a political weapon rally their base.

  1. the fascist right is gaining steam even in progressive state like Massachusetts. This is not going to let up for a while and likely escalate before things improve. Trumpism opened the genie bottle unfortunately
