I Was Wrong.

I thought that it was just another lie that the 10 year old girl was pregnant in their denials that it was true, it was worst. It was due to ignorance. You see they thought that a 10 year old girl couldn’t get pregnant.

Republicans are shocked a 10-year-old can get pregnant after the Ohio rape victim abortion story proves true
Rep. Jim Jordan, one of several Republicans wrestling with messaging after calling the story a lie, tried to shift the focus onto the media and the undocumented man who was arrested.

Congressional Republicans who oppose abortion rights are struggling to talk about the horrific case of a 10-year-old rape victim who had to travel across state lines to Indiana to get an abortion because of strict laws in her home state, Ohio.

The case made international headlines after President Joe Biden decried Republican policies that forced the "already traumatized" child to have to travel out of state to terminate the pregnancy. Republicans and right-wing media criticized Biden, suggesting the case had been fabricated, only for a suspect to be arrested days later.

Confronted with the reality of the case, GOP lawmakers interviewed Thursday appeared to be grappling with how to respond — from confusion to blaming the media.

Many expressed shock that it was even biologically possible for the 10-year-old child to become pregnant. Some said they were torn “morally” about whether abortions should be allowed in cases of incest or rape, as in the Ohio case. And others tried to turn the conversation to the undocumented immigrant who prosecutors allege raped the girl.

“I’m amazed a 10-year-old got pregnant. … You really wrestle with that. That’s a tough one,” Rep. Bob Gibbs, R-Ohio, said Thursday.

Remember these are the folks who banned age appropriate sex education in schools, now you see the results.

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, a Republican, said the story was likely to be a “fabrication.” Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, tweeted “Another lie. Anyone surprised?” in response to a Washington Examiner story about Yost’s saying he had found no evidence of the young rape victim.

But as Ron Popeil, liked to say 'But wait! There's more'

Jordan quietly deleted the tweet Wednesday after prosecutors charged Gershon Fuentes, 27, who court documents say confessed to the rape.

Asked whether he regretted calling the story a lie, Jordan blamed Fuentes, an undocumented immigrant, and the news media.

[...]

“We didn’t know that an illegal alien did this heinous act. We never doubted the child,” Jordan said. The lie was “the news headline … the headline from your profession. We doubted Joe Biden, which is usually a smart thing to do, but we didn’t know that this illegal immigrant had done this terrible thing. He should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”

He tries to weasel out of the blame by blaming the media and on an undocumented immigrant but wait a minute… this is about abortion! Stop trying to change the subject.

An Ohio newspaper is having none of it in a commentary they write,

Ohio Republicans’ attempted erasure of a 10-year-old rape victim is incredibly sick and disturbed

The first and most important thing to recognize right now is that a heinous, violent crime was committed on a 10-year-old Ohio child, and thankfully justice has now found the alleged perpetrator.

A Columbus man was indicted Wednesday in a case that made national and international headlines about a 10-year-old girl who had to travel to Indiana for an abortion after Ohio’s abortion ban went into effect following the U.S. Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.

The story is horrifying and tragic. She has experienced enormous trauma. My heart breaks for her, and I’m very grateful to all the hard-working professionals out there providing her and her family assistance in what must be a truly awful time.

Republican Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and his spokesman responded to the story by ignoring questions about whether children should be forced to have their rapists’ babies. Then DeWine allies contacted members of the press, asking how sure they were that the case of the pregnant 10-year-old even happened.

[…]

Republican Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost went on Fox News Monday to raise further doubts. He said he works closely with law enforcement authorities and he’d gotten “not a whisper” about the case. “What I’m saying to you is there is not a damn scintilla of evidence,” he doubled-down to the Columbus Dispatch next on Tuesday.

This is the wizard behind the curtain in the Wizard of Oz… never mind about a ten year old being forced to carry the child of her rapes lets deny it really happened… just more liberal lies.

You caught the rapist? Ops… Lets focus on the fact that he is an undocumented immigrant… Yeah, yeah… see he is one those terrible aliens.

What about the fact that you are forcing a 10 year to bear the rapist’s baby?

No, no its all about the rapist!

They are trying to divert the attention of the public from the horrors of forcing a child to carry a rapist’s baby to term.

The commentary goes on to say,

Yost’s office didn’t respond Wednesday when asked whether he believes child rape victims should be forced to carry pregnancies, nor whether it was important to believe stories about sexual violence. Instead he put out a statement applauding the arrest.

Yost offered no correction, no apology, and showed no contrition for going on national television to try to erase the lived experience of a child rape victim.

“Apologize for what? Questioning a newspaper story?” Ohio’s top law enforcement officer Dave Yost said about a case in his own county.

DeWine, Yost, and other Ohio Republicans hurt a traumatized child once by forcing her to flee the state in order to receive health care; then they hurt her again by peddling propaganda erasing her; now they’re hurting her a third time by refusing to acknowledge and apologize for their actions.

These powerful Ohio Republican politicians have thoroughly and completely shed themselves of any sense of shame or conscience.

They’re disgusting and disgraceful; callous, careless and cruel.

This is a matter of basic human decency, good faith and sensitivity on the most fundamental level of society.

Yes they are disgusting, disgraceful; callous, and cruel and that fits the new Trump’s Republican party.

Where are the priorities in Ohio focused?

There are reports that over 5000 rape kits are untested… that means 5000 rapist are walking around on the streets. But the Attorney General wants go after the doctor who preformed a legal abortion in Indiana! Todd Rokita says he is looking into Indiana doctor who performed abortion for Ohio 10-year-old

In another article in the Ohio Capital Journal they write…

Unfortunately, there appear to be no shortage of instances in which girls can become pregnant in Ohio — even some involving girls as young as 10.

“In 2021, Ohio’s Children’s Advocacy Centers saw 8,890 cases of abuse (and) of those 6,717 were sexual abuse cases ranging in age from 0-18 years old,” the Ohio Network of Children’s Advocacy Centers reports. “In every case, as warranted, we work closely and collaboratively with law enforcement agencies.”

Scores of those children are becoming pregnant.

In 2020, the most recent year for which statistics are available, 52 girls aged 14 and younger had abortions in Ohio, according to the state department of health. Thankfully, that number is down from an apparent high of 334 in 1998.

And remember over 5000 rape kits are untested.
