Just Saying.

As the senior population gets older the LGBTQ+ community is also aging.

The field of senior home care is exploding, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts 33%* job growth over the next 10 years!

This is an excellent job opportunity for LGBTQ+ people, how many LGBTQ+ people want straight people caring for them or do not want to go into straight long term care facilities where there maybe only a handful gays and lesbians and maybe no or just one trans person. Many of them are afraid of getting old and having a stranger taking care of them either in a LTC facility or at home.

I am selfish, as I get older I will be needing some help in living alone and would like a trans person or a lesbian or gay person to care for me.

So here is a tip for all of you thinking about what you are doing after you graduate, give a thought to becoming a home health and personal care aide.

*U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics: Home Health and Personal Care Aides

Job Outlook

Employment of home health and personal care aides is projected to grow 33 percent from 2020 to 2030, much faster than the average for all occupations.

About 599,800 openings for home health and personal care aides are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Many of those openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as to retire.
