Trump Wannabes North Of The Border

You always thought that Canada was so progressive in their views on LGBTQ people but just like the U.S. but each Province and Territory has its own government and Province of Ontario is very conservative.

The Ontario Progressive Conservative Party passed a resolution to not recognize gender identity this weekend.

The resolution calls on the party to recognize gender identity for what it allegedly is — a "highly controversial, liberal ideology." The resolution will also see gender identity issues removed from all provincial school curriculums.

The controversial policy, dubbed Resolution R4 by the party, was first proposed by failed leadership candidate Tanya Granic Allen.

On the second day of the convention, the party passed several other resolutions including an "opt-out" option for parents who do not want their children in the classroom during sex-ed lessons. Delegates also voted to reject auto insurance reforms.

The NDP, Ontario's official opposition, were quick to fire back at the provincial government. In an official party statement this afternoon, the party wrote the new PC policy adopted by Ontario Premier Doug Ford's party is "dangerous" for LGBTQ youth.

"LGBTQ youth are already victims of stigmatization," NDP MPP Marit Styles wrote in the statement. "The Ford Conservatives are debating things that should not be up for debate."
I think that the conservatives saw that south of the border the Republicans got money and votes by attacking us that they could do the same north of the border.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford says he will not be moving forward with a proposed policy on gender identity introduced at a weekend convention of his Progressive Conservative party.

A resolution at the convention from parental rights advocate Tanya Granic Allen declares gender identity a “Liberal ideology” and asks that references to it be removed from Ontario’s sex-education curriculum.

Over the weekend, delegates at the convention voted in favour of having the resolution debated at next year’s party gathering.

Ford says the resolution came from the convention floor and he won’t allow it to move any further.
