Waking Up To A New Reality

There was a major shift yesterday and it was because of women. From what I understand more women have been elected to the House than ever before and also I understand there may be a couple of women elected governor, Democrat Laura Kelly will win Kansas' gubernatorial race and Janet Mills in Maine. In the Senate the Democrats have lost a couple of seats.

In the states that were moderate Democrats they lost to far right Republicans, but in Nevada and Arizona it seems like the shift was to the left however the races are still a tossup. It seems like the national election has mixed results and actually has created a deeper divide, the moderates lost.

In Georgia it appears that gerrymandering, voter disenfranchisement and closing election sites has worked in the loss for Stacey Abrams.

In Florida it also appears that their underhandedness also had an effect on the outcome of the elections. In some voting districts the voting place were in gated communities where voters from outside of the gated community were denied entrance or were given a hard time to gain access to the voting place.

Here in Connecticut it looks like the Democrats maintained control of the legislature, however the governorship is still up for grabs as of 8:45 Lamont has a 9,000 vote lead with 94% of the precincts reporting, neither candidate received 50% of the vote and that brings me to another topic that I want to cover.

Three-way races.

The three independent candidates  pulled in about 9,000 votes or looking at it another way those voters could have caused Stefanowski to lose the race.

I believe that in a three-way race if no candidate gets 50% of the votes a runoff election of the top two candidates should be done the following Tuesday.

Up in Massachusetts Question 3 ballot question was approved to keep public accommodation… it was a trouncing for the bigots!

In Weelfleet MA where I have my cottage the vote was YES 1,602 (80.19%), NO 379 (19.13%)

Masslive reported,
Polling results from the Associated Press indicate about 1.5 million of Mass. voters, or 67.7 percent, voted "yes" to preserve the current anti-discrimination law and support transgender rights. About 700,000 Mass. voters, or 32.3 percent, voted "no."
I say to the religious fanatics… STFU! The voters have spoken.
