$4.39/gal $5.64/gal

The first is the current price of gasoline, and the second is the price of home heating oil here in Connecticut.

Right now, the Republican candidate for governor is attacking the governor over the price of electricity, claiming that he can bring it down! But his own party is doing everything it can to shut down wind and solar power, and he agrees with them! His stated policies include expanding natural-gas infrastructure and scaling back support for renewable energy!

The Trump administration is taking aim at an offshore wind project operating off the coast of New England, in a move that could threaten a fragile bipartisan truce over infrastructure permitting in the Senate.

What happened: The Interior Department, which oversees energy development in federal waters, is seeking to review Revolution Wind's compliance with federal law, according to a Friday filing from a Department of Justice attorney. If granted, the move could allow officials to revoke the project's approval.
Free energy! But Trump would rather burn coal, oil, and gas! And our Republican candidate for governor is following right along in Trump's footsteps. His stated policies include expanding natural-gas infrastructure and scaling back support for renewable energy.

In his first campaign news conference, Republican gubernatorial candidate Ryan Fazio outlined plans Monday to lower the high cost of electricity, asserting that Connecticut’s longstanding efforts to promote carbon-free energy have burdened ratepayers without mitigating climate change.

Fazio said he would end Connecticut’s 21-year commitment to RGGI, the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, and oppose further state spending on building an EV charger network, subsidizing the installation of climate-friendly heat pumps or anything else increasing the cost of or demand for electricity.

“Affordability should be the priority,” said Fazio, a state senator from Greenwich and a prominent GOP voice on energy. “And just the simple mathematics of it is, if Connecticut dropped off the face of the earth, it wouldn’t have any significant effect on carbon emissions globally.”
I totally agree! “Affordability should be the priority.” So why does he want to keep burning fossil fuels?

According to his website, he promises to:
  • Reduce electricity bills by 20%, a campaign goal rather than a guaranteed outcome.
  • Eliminate or scale back programs and charges that support renewable-energy initiatives.
  • Expand natural-gas pipeline capacity and electricity generation.
  • End Connecticut's participation in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), a regional program that limits carbon emissions from power plants.
So, please tell me, Mr. Fazio with... Brent Crude  the international benchmark, trading at approximately $104.60–$106.03 per barrel, how in the world are you going to lower energy prices when all you seem to want to do is burn, baby, burn?
