Republicans are seeking to overturn new congressional district lines that could result in five additional Democratic seats after voters approved the map last week.NBC NewsNov. 13, 2025By Adam EdelmanThe Justice Department on Thursday joined a Republican-led lawsuit that seeks to block a new Democratic-drawn congressional map in California that voters approved last week. The redrawn district lines could allow Democrats to pick up an additional five House seats in next year’s midterm elections. The Trump administration’s involvement in the case escalates the battle and adds another political layer to the ongoing redistricting efforts that are playing out across the country. In a complaint filed in federal court Thursday, the Justice Department effectively joined a suit filed last week by the California Republican Party that challenges California’s new map.In their complaints, the DOJ and the California GOP allege that the new maps approved by voters amount to a “racial gerrymander” that they say violates the U.S. Constitution. The suit claims that California Democrats considered race when proposing the redrawn map in ways that advantage Hispanic voters.
Okay... what about Texas? Or because it is a Republican state they can do what they want?
Voters’ approval of a ballot measure — known as the “Election Rigging Response Act,” or Proposition 50 — earlier this month allows California Democrats to circumvent an independent commission that controls the redistricting process in the state and implement a more partisan map.
Did you get that? Voter approved it! Not the legislature... the voters!
PBS News writes that there is big money behind the redistricting, from the billionaires!
The national implications of California’s ballot measure were clear in both the money it attracted and the high-profile figures who became involved. Tens of millions of dollars flowed into the race, including a $5 million donation to opponents from the Congressional Leadership Fund, the super political action committee tied to House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La.
Now get this... The Washington Post reported that no other states that redistricted are being sued! They are all Republican states!
Three Republican-led states — Texas, along with Missouri and North Carolina — have not faced federal legal action after revamping district lines following Trump’s call for new maps to expand GOP numbers in the House. Civil rights advocates have argued that the new boundaries in Texas and Missouri illegally disadvantage minority communities at the ballot box.
Everything Trump touches it turn s to trash including the Department of Justice.
