People keep telling me that there’s no difference between Republicans and Democrats — well, I want to point out a glaring difference. Take a look at Texas and California’s efforts at gerrymandering.
Texas:
Trump says, “Give me an edge and gerrymander your districts.”→ Governor Abbott replies, “Your wish is my command.”→ The Republican legislature says, “As you wish.”And just like that, the districts are gerrymandered.
California:
Governor Newsom says, “We need to counter Trump!”→ The Democratic legislature responds, “That sounds like a good idea — but we’ll let the voters decide on such an important issue.”→ The voters decide: “Yes, that is a good idea!”
Do you see the difference?
Texas: Top-down political directive!California: Bottom-up political directive!
Trump response to the election results that don't go his way... According to The Hill;
President Trump on Tuesday threatened legal action over mail-in ballots cast in California, while also slamming the state’s redistricting measure.“The Unconstitutional Redistricting Vote in California is a GIANT SCAM in that the entire process, in particular the Voting itself, is RIGGED,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “All ‘Mail-In’ Ballots, where the Republicans in that State are ‘Shut Out,’ is under very serious legal and criminal review. STAY TUNED!”
Typical Trump bravado.
