Donald Trump is pulling one of the most iconic American companies — McDonald’s — into the political arena in the final days of his third White House bid.

The former president stopped by one of the fast-food chain’s Pennsylvania franchises during his Sunday swing through the Keystone State, where he swapped his suit jacket for an apron to work as a fry attendant. He later handed customers food through the drive-thru window at the restaurant — which was closed for the event — telling them he had made it himself and that it was all on him.

Manning the fry machine is the same job Vice President Kamala Harris has said she held as a young woman, a biographical detail revealed during her first campaign for president. It has since become a centerpiece of the middle-class origin story she has made key to her pitch to voters as the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee.

Trump, whose deep affection for the Golden Arches and its offerings is well documented, has meanwhile grown fixated on Harris’ employment there. In interviews and on the campaign trail, he regularly accuses Harris – without evidence – of making up the factoid. His visit to the restaurant is his latest attempt to sow doubt about the Democrat’s work history.

[…]

A campaign official told CNN that Harris worked at a McDonald’s in Alameda, California, during the summer of 1983 when she was still a student at Howard University in Washington. She worked the register and manned the fry and ice cream machines, according to the official.
Now for the “Rest of the story.” as Paul Harvey used to say, this is from the British newspaper Independent
Instead, the former president created a kind of strange spectacle as he stoked fears about election fraud while wearing an apron through the restaurant’s drive-thru window. The scene that played out in the Feasterville neighborhood of the Lower Southampton Township, where the former president and his campaign took over a McDonald’s franchise restaurant owned by one of his supporters.

The roughly hour-long photo opp closed down the restaurant entirely. A sign on the door said that the restaurant would be closed Sunday until 4pm, after the president and his entourage had left. During the visit, Trump had an apron tied behind his back by a McDonald’s cashier before he recieved a short demonstration of how to work the fry station and stuck his head through the drive-thru.
In other words it was faked. The restaurant was closed!

Newsweek reported,
"I've now worked for 15 minutes more than Kamala... She never worked here," the former president said through the drive-thru window on Sunday.

Trump has repeated his unsubstantiated claim that the Democratic presidential nominee lied about working at McDonald's. The vice president said she worked in the burger chain during her failed presidential bid in 2019.

Harris's campaign has said that she worked at a franchise on Central Avenue in Alameda, California, during the summer of 1983, following her freshman year at Howard University.
What was interesting about the article was a part about hiring convicted felons.
McDonald's does hire convicted felons in the U.S., though the specific policies may vary depending on the location, the nature of the felony, and how much time has passed since the conviction.

Most McDonald's locations are franchises, meaning each franchise owner may set their own hiring policies, so this can vary from one location to another.

Trump's language is also becoming an issues with some people.

Is this presidential material?

Even by his haywire standards, Donald Trump’s latest rhetoric and behavior is erratic, autocratic and vulgar and hints at four years of unpredictable leadership that may lie ahead if he’s elected president in 15 days.

Vice President Kamala Harris and top Democrats are seizing on the Republican nominee’s bizarre antics to inject new urgency and a sharper focus into her campaign, arguing he “demeans” the presidency and is “deranged.” As Trump cancels one-on-one interviews and piles up odd public appearances, Democrats are suggesting that he is “unstable” and showing cognitive decline, using the same critique he once used against President Joe Biden. The Harris campaign, for example, immediately highlighted the 78-year-old Trump saying on Sunday that he’s “not that close to 80” when calling for cognitive tests.

Yet Trump’s years of trashing expectations of presidential behavior have seemed to offer him a kind of immunity from the ramifications of what would be career-ending actions for most other politicians. The twice-impeached, once-convicted ex-president’s outlandish displays only underscore his anti-establishment authenticity for millions of Americans who adore him.
They ignore the fornicating, they ignore the vulgar language, and the lies because he is their guy. And do you know who else does that? People in a cult.
In a nearly hourlong speech before a crowd that included evangelical leaders, he claimed that only he could protect Christian voters. He did not mention abortion once.

Former President Donald J. Trump on Monday used the language of persecution to make a sweeping claim that only he could protect Christian voters, darkly warning religious communities that they would come under legal, cultural, political and global assault if he lost in November.

Mr. Trump, a former tabloid fixture who was once caught on tape boasting of grabbing women by their genitals, spoke of himself at the 11th Hour Faith Leaders Meeting in Concord, N.C., as not just a champion of Christian causes and values but as a member of the faithful.

Two days after he made a crude remark at a rally about a famous golfer’s penis size and used profanity to insult Vice President Kamala Harris, Mr. Trump spoke on Monday of the importance of religion in his life, recalling going to church as a child and framing his survival of an assassination attempt in Butler, Pa., as an act of divine intervention.
The evangelical Christians forgive his language because he is on a mission from god to through all the sinners out of the U.S. like St. Patrick did with the “snakes” of Ireland.
Instead of emphasizing that issue, Mr. Trump focused on portraying his political opponents as antireligious, reviving false and misleading claims that Christians — and Roman Catholics in particular — would not be safe if Ms. Harris were elected president.
He plays on their fears and tells them what they want to hear.

You know my manta by now, we need to keep this guy out of the White House, his term four years ago was just a dress rehearsal, he now knows what and how to do it thanks to Project 2025. To paraphrase Maya Angelou, “When someone lies to you and lies telling you what they are going to do, believe them the first time, that they tell you nothing but lies”.

Vote Harris/Walz and the Democratic line! Vote "Yes" on the Connecticut ballot question on mail-in ballots, don't believe the Republican "big Lie" on voter fraud.

What is scary is that half the country is voting for him... get out and vote!
