Russia’s recent “extremist” designation of a loosely defined “LGBT movement” has led to a surge in emergency evacuations from the country, independent media reported Tuesday, citing the European human rights group for post-Soviet LGBT people, Equal PostOst.

Russia’s Supreme Court on Thursday banned the so-called “international LGBT movement” — which does not formally exist — on claims of extremism.

Individuals face a maximum of six years in prison if convicted of involvement in an “extremist” organization.

When Texas officials announced their intentions to launch child abuse investigations involving people who provide gender-affirming care for their transgender children, Susan’s heart dropped.

[…]

Susan and her husband Brian, who asked that their last names not be used for safety reasons, decided the family needed to move out of Texas in light of the child abuse investigation threats. They say they weren’t sure how far the government would go to separate families like their own or affect Elsa’s access to care as she gets older.

Her family is not alone. Across the country, advocacy groups say some families are packing up and moving out of their home states that have implemented anti-LGBTQ legislation to get to a place with greater protections for the community, according to queer advocacy groups nationwide.

Elsa’s family has since moved to Washington and said LGBTQ acceptance in the community has been like day-and-night between the two states, Susan said.

Today and tomorrow I am up at the cottage getting it ready for the winter and winter came fast!

In Wareham and Bourne there was about 2 inches of snow on the ground, along Suicide 6 I went trough a couple of snow squalls. One the visibility was only a few hundred feet but the snow squall was about a mile wide. They called it "Ocean Effect" snows.

When I got to the cottage it was sleeting, now I am huddled in the living room with my winter jacket and a knit hat trying to keep warm until the heat warms up the room. I’m making some hot chocolate.

So today it have my list to do at the cottage for the next two days and it is going to be cold working outside with the temperature around freezing and a stiff wind coming off the water..
