CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - Charleston Police have arrested a man in connection to an attack that left a transgender woman unconscious.

Tuesday night, police announced, Christopher Lamar Price, 30, was arrested for aggravated assault.

This comes after police say he assaulted a transgender woman after confronting her about her gender outside of Deco nightclub, downtown, on August 19. Surveillance video of the attack is now available.

In the video it appears that it all started with what seemed to be a verbal argument. Both groups disperse, but eventually come back in contact with each other and are still arguing. That's when a man appears to knock out a person who has now been identified as a transgender woman.
The video shows that she was suckered punched.

I am always wary of a verbal confrontation because it is very easy for it to escalate.

There is also case being heard down in Texas.

A Galena Park man accused in the high-profile shooting of a transgender woman and the stabbing of a man in Midtown in April 2016 is expected to continue trial Tuesday with testimony from witnesses of the crime.

Tariq Lackings, 32, faces life in prison if convicted of murder in the fatal shooting of Shante Thompson, 34.

Willie Sims, 33, was also stabbed to death. Lackings was originally charged with capital murder for both deaths, but prosecutors later reduced the case to murder, for just the death of Thompson in the midtown melee.

But the incident more likely emerged from a love triangle or some other sort of relationship, friends and family of Isaac have said. They told police the slaying stemmed from a dispute between Isaac and one of her attackers, another transgender woman, over a man.
It is important to remember that we also can be victims of domestic violence and that the DV shelters should be open to us.

It has been over ten year but just maybe justice will be served.

Twenty-one years after a transgender woman was strangled with an electrical cord, her body wrapped in a blanket with a bag over her head and dumped on a Bronx street, two men have been arrested for murdering her, police sources said Friday.

Amanda White, 20, was found at E. 173rd St. and Boston Road on March 11, 1997.

On Aug. 15, detectives made the first arrest, charging Christopher (Champagne) Dickerson, 42, of Middletown, Orange County, with murder.

Court papers list the victim as Warren White, and the initial police paperwork on the case, before White was identified listed White as a John Doe.

But a police source said White identified as Amanda.

On Thursday night, a second suspect, Glenn Broadnax, 40, of Brooklyn was charged.
As the theme song for Monk says…
It's a jungle out there
Disorder and confusion everywhere
No one seems to care
