Did you see what the Obama White House just did? Another step forward for LGBT people, not a major step but new ground was broken.
Will the next president continue appointing trans people to the White House or will we lose all the advances that we have made? Vote in the November elections! All of the Republican candidates have said that they will roll back all the LGBT advances that have been made over the last eight years.
Meet the First Trans White House LGBT LiaisonI think that there are more trans people in the White House than ever before… Well since there were not any before even one would have been a big step but right now there are three, trans attorney Shannon Minter was appointed to the President’s Commission on White House Fellowships, appointed Amelie Koran to the White House staff and now Freedman-Gurspan.
Advocates are cheering for Raffi Freedman-Gurspan, a Latina public policy expert who becomes the first out transgender person to serve as the White House's LGBT liaison.

For 21 years, the White House’s LGBT liaison has been been either a straight woman — the first was a Bill Clinton-appointee named Marsha Scott — or a cisgender (nontrans) gay or lesbian official. But Raffi Freedman-Gurspan just changed all that.
Freedman-Gurspan is a trans Latina public policy expert who was first appointed to a staff position in the White House last year. Now she becomes the first out transgender person to serve as the White House’s LGBT liaison, reports BuzzFeed. Her official title is outreach and recruitment director for presidential personnel and associate director for public engagement.
