Why We Need To Pass Law

Even though we have won many victory in the courts all it takes is for one judge to overturn all the victories.

A federal judge on Friday ruled against a transgender teenager who continues to challenge his Virginia school district’s policy requiring students to use restrooms and locker rooms that correspond to their “biological gender.” U.S. District Judge Robert G. Doumar rejected Gavin Grimm’s request for a preliminary injunction that would have allowed him to use the boys restroom at Gloucester County High School during the upcoming academic year as his case proceeds.

Doumar in late July said the policy does not violate Title IX. He has yet to rule on whether he will allow Grimm’s case to proceed based on his claim under the 14th Amendment
Judge Dumar was appointed by President Reagan and is known for his conservative views and it is my guess that the school will appeal the case all the way to the Supreme Court.

It is so important that we get legislation passed that expands the Civil Rights Act to include us because all it takes is a conservative judge to overturn all that we have won and going to the Supreme Court is always a crap shoot.
